Is Trump on Ozempic?

Trump likes to talk about what drugs Biden might be using to get into State-of-the-Union condition for the upcoming debate, but what drug is Trump using? A TikTok video:

If Ozempic is what a person needs to go from obese to a healthy weight then I'm all for it. It would be preferable to do it without the drugs, but no shame in taking them.

I agree with old and slow - and criticism of Trump for losing weight, however he did it, just sounds like the way American Democrats dust off the racist, sexist, and homophobic slurs against Republicans.

I suppose they're aiming to point out "hypocrisy," but it comes across as "we don't really believe what we say."

Comparing a current photo to one from four years ago rather undermines the claim of rapid recent weight loss. How about a photo from oh, say, six months ago?

What a day! We have two Trump "shithole countries" stories simultaneously!

"Shithole countries": half of TrumpWorld claims Trump never said it. Half of TrumpWorld claims it was exactly the right thing to say.

Trump on Ozempic: half of TrumpWorld claims it isn't true. Half of TrumpWorld claims that it is Trump being healthy and normal.

Trump calling Milwaukee "a horrible city": half of TrumpWorld claims Trump never said it. Half of TrumpWorld claims that, yeah, Milwaukee really is a horrible city.

And let's not forget that other TrumpWorld standard response; "Who cares? I don't care about his mean Tweets. I like the policy."

My response, as ever, is "Can we just settle on what really happened? Did he say/do it? Or not?" (Doing this makes me the bad guy in TrumpWorld, for focusing on what makes them uncomfortable.)

He’s probably losing weight just from missing meals with his demanding trial-twisted schedule.

On the court days, he can’t eat in the courtroom, then runs off to do events like the BX rally.

On the non-court days, he’s traveling even more.

Even when youre a rich guy who can score whatever food you want on demand, nobody’s rich enough to add hours to the day.

He simply has not had time to eat.

I have lost weight this way when my work demanded travel, strange hours, etc.

The best thing for my weight was my Dr prescribing Metformin for pre-diabetes. My body is no longer screaming for food all the time and thankfully I've never had any problems with the drug. After I quit smoking at age 25, I gained weight and was hungry all the time, I always tried to keep my weight down but still I would get overweight again.

We're lucky to be living in a time when all these wonderful drugs are becoming available. The so-called fat drugs will lead to healthier and longer lives.

yep! before when i would "try" to "diet", i'd spend the day ravenous, and fixating on food.
now on metformin.. i don't think about feeding..
I often look up at the clock and realize that it's time for a meal.. Which i hadn't even thought about.
(doc is ADAMANT that i do NOT skip meals.. something about blood sugar levels or some such doc stuff)

I wouldn't be surprised if he is on Ozempic. But He also could have just lost weight the normal way too. Ozempic isn't a magic weight loss pill as far as I know. It just slows down digestion and helps with appetite control. But even if he is it seems like a non-issue politically. Though it does seem standard fare for celebrity gossip news.

Yep! I was thinking I might be in the wrong year right now! 2020 to 2024? I believe most people could get it together to loose weight in that time.

Also, someone in their 80's is likely to be on a few drugs. But when we talk about Biden being on drugs, it isn't for (example) high blood pressure, but stimulant's to make him functional.

Immanuel Rant said...

Yes, Biden being juiced up for public appearances because he cannot function without a drug cocktail and Trump possibly using a weight loss drug (without evidence, as it is popular to say) are EXACTLY THE SAME.

One of my favorite examples of Chuck's mental illness and desperate need to put himself at the center of all things Trump was back prior to the 2016 election when Chuck concocted this over the top Taylor Lorenz-like lie where Chuck claimed he golfed at a number of Trump owned courses and at these courses the employees were basically lining up to tell Chuck ALL they knew about how terrible and horrible Trump is!

LOL

Sure they were Chuck. Sure they were.

But that's not all. Chuckles also regaled us with tales of how PGA officials were always primed and ready to take phone calls directly from Chuck during tournaments so that Chuck could report infractions committed by players that Chuck saw on TV!

Wink wink!

After all that Jayson Blair type stuff from Chuck, I fully expected our psycho to claim it was his golf course designs that Jack Nicklaus took credit for!

When you put these data points together a clear picture of what drives Chuck's sick anger against Trump and Elon Musk (yes, Chuck routinely attacks Musk as well), amongst others: these people have delivered tangible achievements.

And Chuck has not...and likely never will.

Trump has been looking more trim for over year now, but the haters have continued to call him 'obese'.

I think it's more likely he's had 'work' done, or that the flattering pictures have been modified with a filter. You know - like millions of other people. But whether he's had 'work' done, or is on Ozempic, or is using filters, or has done it the old-fashioned way, I'll wait for him to share the details - if he feels like it.

Side question: How many of the dozens of mummified antiquarians in Washington DC have shared their maintenance records? Or is the only question, Will They Admit It ??

The pyramid was always bullshit. Britannica: "The food pyramid has its origins not in recommendations for a balanced diet but in food shortages." It just proved a useful tool for the bureaucrats. Also, as those of us old enough to remember; eggs good, eggs bad, eggs good, eggs bad............

I've always periodically fasted. For those mentioning the painful cravings, they go away. Pull that belt tighter and tough it out.

The first time I got a colonoscopy, doc said not to eat for three so I just stopped until the next week (full seven days). My spouse couldn't believe I could just stop. Doc said "That's the cleanest colon I've ever seen in my life."

I ate like a friggin' lion that night.

Wanna lose a lot of weight fast? Cut out every carb from your diet.

I can attest to this. I went low carb to control my blood sugar and dropped a lot of weight. Unfortunately, I didn't have the weight to loose. My doctor (rightly) wants me to put it back on but it's a struggle on a low-carb diet.

I added a carb spike every day around noon before going to the gym when I was testing out how to gain weight. It works but you are going to start retaining water in your gut again.

Insulin causes the body to release several hormones that put you in a more anabolic growth state.

I was also "pre-diabetic" and insulin resistant after no carbs for 3 years. Be interesting to see if that changed.

I use Honey, strawberries, chocolate and blueberries generally.

LLR-democratical And Violent Homosexual Rage Rape Fantasist Chuck has explicitly stated many times that he votes democratical up and down the ballot, not to mention he has been as protective of Whitmer as a mama bear with her cubs. ANY criticism of Whitmer is likely to cause Chuck to come down on a commenter like a ton of bricks!

Which makes sense, considering Chuck is on the far left of every policy disagreement and passionately supports each and every democrat without exception for the last 9+ years.

The angriest Chuckles has ever been was the day after the election in 2016 when the Republicans gained control of the House, Senate and Presidency. Chuckles could not contain his spittle-flecked anger over the defeat of his beloved democraticals which made his Online Fake Conservative Persona act absolutely hilarious!

Of course, given all of Chuck's complete and utter emotional meltdowns over the years, identifying any one incident as Chuck's angriest is a tough call.

@Achilles - I wish I could figure my blood glucose out. I have had pre-diabetic fasting levels for decades when it's measured in the morning before breakfast, (100-120 mg/dL) but I've recently discovered if I eat breakfast, then fast and measure it in the evening it's 70-80 mg/dL. I assumed I was insulin resistant, but when I got my doctor to start measuring my fasting insulin levels I was surprised to find them low: 3-5 mg/dL. So, not insulin resistant.

What started me looking into this were symptoms which ended up being diagnosed as 'reactive hypoglycemia'. If I eat a big carbohydrate load (like 80 grams; cereal, milk, and a banana, for example) and plot my postprandial glucose levels I get a big spike (> 200 mg/dL) followed immediately by a big crash. I never go below 70 (i.e. I am never actually hypoglycemic) but the drop is so fast that my body reacts as if I am. It dumps a lot of adrenaline into my system and I get symptoms of hypoglycemia (weakness, trembling).

It's as if my pancreas is slow to react to the carb load, and then when it does react it goes overboard.

I figure the best I can do is limit my carbs so as to limit the glucose spikes.

@Rob C: You’ll never find an insurer saying, “I don’t believe in climate change”

Your cynicism is sadly unmoored from reality: some US coastal regions are becoming practically uninsurable. As for paying with someone else's money, that's exactly what's happening: the fastest growing insurer in Florida is state-backed, meaning that it's taxpayers who are footing the bill for damage to beachfront property that private companies won't touch.

Trump disrupting democracy, undermining governance, and disrupting American internationalism presents the scenario of a series of highly disruptive and discontinuous events that are hard to anticipate and insure for. Lack of predictability is always the greatest driver of uncertainty.

In contrast, if Biden prints a lot of money — because the entire Washington establishment has been "trained" by 30-40 years of experience using this policy tool -- this will be a predictable rolling out of foreseeable events and one would expect interest rates, exchange rates, and market prices to change to reflect this evolution. The exercise of democratic choice can put things back towards a different track.

Ultimately public policy is going to try to reduce uncertainty and put predictability back into external events, even one as big and hoary as climate change.

Insurance also means the business of making choices.
