This is especially true if there's no occasion for running for the nomination because the incumbent President is in your party and he's running, but the delegates he's collecting in the primaries may, at the time of the convention, be free to nominate somebody else, somebody who hasn't run for President but who may accept the nomination if it is handed to her and may, if elected, deign to serve.

Say what you will about Donald Trump, he was an engaged, successful businessman for decades. What experience does Michelle Obama bring to the table? That she could be touted as a candidate, and would likely garner "all" of the democrat/left electorate, speaks very poorly of them.

It really is an indication of the tunnel vision that runs rampant through the party right now, getting excited by Michele, but only because she's married to Obama - Close Enough ! Obama is still working out of his DC office space, very involved in politics of the current administration. Why is this not a larger news story? Even if suggesting his wife as a stand-in for him is not a precedent, thinking back to the Hillary debacle of a candidacy I'd suggest Michelle could only lose to a pre-arranged fall guy like Haley, and maybe not even then.
This speculation has been going on for a long time as the pundits fill out their required column inches and airwsve minutes. When Joe Biden gets renominated this speculation will be exchanged for another round of chin-pulling 'what ifs' which will also be forgotten.
