An overcast sunrise at 6:33.

Later, the same day, at 3:29 p.m., I was basking under clear blue sky on a rock in Biocore Prairie....

Meade took that picture, and it reminds me of the Harry Nilsson version of "It Had To Be You," which I'd heard on my sunrise walk. He sings: "But with all your faults, it's you I adore/When you stand up, your hands touch the floor/It had to be me/Unlucky me/It had to be me."

An indication that this election season will be different:
I voted in the Texas primary today.
I have never had more than a couple of minutes' wait until today.
Today, I waited ~40 minutes.
Maybe that means something, maybe not.

Joe Biden explains, back when he was VP, how the Europeans asked him why he didn't just leave Ukraine and Russia alone, what difference did it make, nothing had changed, it was Russia's before, and it's Russia's now. "Why are you making us engage in these sanctions..."

Things have worked out great for Ukraine now, haven't they. Like Barrack Obama famously said, "Never underestimate Joe Biden's ability to f* things up."

But maybe somebody is wising up, because Victoria Nuland, who has been behind a lot of these neocon misadventures, including the Maidan coup, is packing her bags just a few months after getting her new gig as the #3 person at the State Department. This in the same week period that The New York Times did their piece on how the CIA swooped into Kiev immediately after the coup, and helped prevent the democratically elected government from regaining power and set up bases on Russia's border. It's a fascinating read. It's a confession that Putin was justified in invading Ukraine, or at least that is how the majority of countries in the world will see it.

There haven't been many prog posts mentioning the price of gas lately. I'm sure the fact it's been going up (15% over the last two weeks here) is merely a coincidence.

More Texas election trivia-
You may have read about the GOP Civil War, roughly described as being the Paxton/MAGA wing (AG Paxton was impeached by the GOP State House and acquitted by the State Senate) vs the GOPe wing (Bushes, Rick Perry, Karl Rove).
After Paxton was acquitted, he declared war on several sitting judges on the Court of Criminal Appeals who had ruled against his efforts to eliminate voter fraud in Texas. Paxton, who may be shady but not possibly as bad as the Democrats and RINOs claim, endorsed several opponents of these judges. These races are always snoozers, until this year.
In early returns, all are trailing their Paxton-endorsed challengers.
The MAGA is very strong this year.

With 41% of the vote in, Trump has 76%, Haley 19%. On the D side, Biden has 87%, the rest ccattered 2-3% or less. No option for uncommitted here.

Background on Paxton from a very lefty source:

What kind of rock is it? Is it an erratic or bedrock? Looks like limestone.

Virginia's Republicans are solidly for Trump. We actually have two primaries -- today was only for the Presidential campaign. In June we pick candidates for Congress and the US Senate.

Serious Questions:
When will the democrats announce THEIR candidate for the Presidency?
WHO will they choose?
WILL they actually force the death of resident Biden? Or will they be able to convince him that it's Over?

Niky Haley should just come right out and say it.

"The democrats have shown the willing to consider anything to stop Donald Trump. I'm staying in the race; in case they succeed."

So nothing posted about toe licking in schools today.

I think it's really astounding that educators had to learn after the fact that a great majority of parents and others do not approve of children licking the toes of others in public. even it is is (supposedly) to raise money for a good cause.

The rock looks like the Cambrian Jordan sandstone, also known as the Madison Sandstone. See if it looks like the stone used to make Bascom hall.

The only thing I'd say about the primaries so far is that they don't reflect DeSantis actual strength vis a vis Haley. He's gone back to doing his job and he's not dividing the party. She has only accumulated some delegates from the deep blue states where careerists don't dare vote even in secret for Trump. "Queen of the swamp" describes her exactly by now though she was better than that when she started. But without a great cause like MAGA, politics has a trajectory like the Mock Turtle's arithmetic, namely, ambition, distraction, uglification, and derision. And that's the trajectory of Haley and her pointless campaign.

I want to wish Robert Cook, and all the The New Soviet Democraticals and LLR-democraticals actually, a Very Merry And Happy Stalin Death Day.

Thoughts and prayers as always.

Unfortunately, Paxton made a serious strategic mistake by bringing the horrific Jeff Rowe and crew aboard to "assist" his efforts.

Jeff Rowe and his DC Swampy GOPe group were the cats that obliterated the DeSantis campaign, along with the DeSantis idiot online influencer failures, after blowing clean thru $250 Million before Iowa with not a single Iowa county to show for it.

Why Paxton bought into that loser GOPe consultant schpiel I'll never know.

Who knew we were a bunch of "SNOW ROACHES"?? Leave it to the Progressive USAGM Chief Information Officer and IT Director in Bidens administration. He is suspended WITH PAY. We are still paying this man to hate us. This is what is wrong in this country. The progressives are accusing the WRONG people of RACISM. If he were white, he would have been fired. If this isn't racism, then I am a green rabbit.

Sometimes, when I find myself feeling very Progressive (NEVER..just resentful that they can talk like this on TV and get away with it)....I hope that an illegal monster does something bad to somebody one of these fools loves. The only way to open their eyes to what they are laughing at, is for it to happen to them. They sicken me.

The thing about Google AI answering the misgendering/nuclear apocalypse question.. It was a stupid answer to a stupid question. With a little more smarts, the thing would've just said it's a bullshit question.
Reminds me of the bullshit short story by Ursula K. Le Guin. Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas.
In fairness, it's been a long time since I read it, so my memory might be corrupted.

Texas Speaker Dave Phelan, who brought the impeachment charges against Paxton, is behind in his primary. It will likely go to a runoff but he is 3pts behind.
