I received a message from GiveSendGo. The husband of the former Althouse commentator who went by the handle "Synova" passed away earlier today. His passing was described as quick, quiet, and without pain. If you can help her with her financial burden, the donation site is here.

I hope I don't get fined for all of the money I have if I ever get pulled over driving through New York State and they find out that the tax assessed value of my home is less than the value I put down for it when I applied for the mortgage!

Did the governor of New York say "let this be a warning to all of you low life real estate developers, we're on to you!" No, she didn't, because she knows that if this rule was applied to every real estate deal in New York, the entire industry would close down. What she said was not to worry, it won't happen to them. This was just for Trump, who is a terrible person.

"Mar-a-Lago's value as high as $612 million, even though the Palm Beach County tax assessor listed its value between $18 million and $27."

Rush Limbaugh's Palm Beach home sold for $150 million, and was nothing on the scale of Mar a Lago.

Then there is 40 Wall Street:

Private appraisals during 2011-2017 showed 40 Wall Street being worth at between $5mil and $21mil. Eric Trump was involved and was aware of the appraisal value and yet, ordered McConney, Controller of Trump Org., to show it as $161mil in Statement of Financial Condition to get loan from Deutsche Bank.

Where do I sign up to get in on this bargain?

40 Wall Street (also known as the Trump Building; formerly known as the Bank of Manhattan Trust Building and Manhattan Company Building) is a 927-foot-tall (283 m) neo-Gothic skyscraper on Wall Street between Nassau and William streets in the Financial District of Manhattan in New York City.

$5 million dollars? Don't go anywhere, I will write you a check for it today!

I guess my interlocutor had screwed up that 40 Wall St reference, he meant that Seven Springs was worth $5 million. Once again, sign me up.

But I look forward to the wave of prosecutions as NYC prosecutors comb through every real estate deal that's been done in NYC in the past several years, uncovering crimes, and issuing fines of hundreds of millions each.

In a Jan. 29 interview on MSNBC, E. Jean Carroll said she would sue Trump if he defamed her again. Roberta Kaplan, one of Carroll’s attorneys, also said in a Good Morning America interview that “all options were on the table” in the face of future defamatory statements.

At his appearance at a Muslim American rally in Dearbornistan today, Trump again attacked Carroll — whom he already owes more than $88 million from two defamation lawsuits — saying: “I’m saying ‘who the hell is she, who’s the woman’.” So now it is back to court again before the same judge for yet another $100,000,000 or so. Money owed ain't money paid until Trump assets are seized.

Rental income from 40 Wall Street is a mere $43 million before deducting operating expenses which likely eat up most of the profits. And Trump has a $138 million mortgage with Ladder Corporation that comes due in 2025. Hang onto your $5 mil because you can't afford to walk in the door as the owner of this decrepit building at any price, Timmy.

Karl Denninger at market ticker
https://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=250759
is making some points about 2016 to the current time about crimes that have been committed. Basically- 2020 was a coup d'état by the intelligence services. Those 51 intelligence officials who signed the laptop Russian disinformation letter? All in violation of 18 USC 2384. Adam Schiff's statements that he held in his very hands documents proving Trump was a Russian asset? That goes beyond playing politics- that's sedition. The comments on his post are interesting.

On another subject, a car was stopped and the occupant arrested today crossing over into Mexico smuggling weapons!. You know, weapons! That the Mexican government is suing US companies for billions of dollars- and idiot judges who don't believe the second amendment should exist are saying can proceed. And here's proof! Weapons being smuggled across the border.

Along with boxed of 7.62 ammo for the AK-47s being smuggled. Wait? AK-47s? They're not made in the USA. Nor are they legally imported into the USA. So how did the smuggler get them? IMHO- an unlawful combatant who should be immediately transferred to GTMO for enhanced questioning. After all, he was in unlawful possession of banned weapons used by militaries throughout the world. In host countries, and certainly not here, banned for possession by civilians. So by definition- an unlawful combatant with no rights under the Geneva Convention. Let's find out where they came from. I mean, it's not like the Chinese aren't sending hundreds to thousands of military age males over our border with Mexico. And jihadists coming over also. Easier to arm them here then here with stashed weapons from a 40' container then having them carry them across the border- which would result in them being stopped. Whether or not this is in the news is immaterial- I have my sources.

And from an industry source from a quick internet search: Apr 13, 2023 — According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), only 3.7% of the roughly 11 million containers entering the US each year are scanned. Yeah, almost no room there at all for a few extra crates of weapons to arm 5th columnists.

More and more people on the internet an people I talk to in person are coming around to my idea of protecting our border like other countries do. Double chain link fence with signs on the other side- in multiple languages- "If you cross this fence you will die" with overlapping machine gun nests manned 24/7/365. You come in through a designated border crossing with your papers in order- or you don't come. Those coming by sea? Immediate arrest. If they can't prove genuine refugee status- a stint in GTMO followed by return to their country of origin OR the country they boarded the boat in. Even if they don't want them. A C-130 can unload them just about anywhere without actually stopping.

You shouldn't miss him too much. He divided America by race, gender, class and religion.... ..Your favorite President did this.
Like the fundamental transformation?
You enjoyed the I, I, I, me, me me, speeches???
The guy who lied when he claimed this...“this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal ..."??
You really are a serf.. Enjoy the downfall that Obama started and probably his "wife" will finish.

"I think we all recall the assertion by Barack Obama back in 2008: "We are five days from fundamentally transforming the United States." It was quite telling that no one said “Stop! What is this transformation? What are we transforming to, or from what? The crowd of mindless lemmings just went into a deranged euphoria, and those who did ask questions were dismissed. Or worse, called a racist for daring to challenge an assertion of the chosen one."
“A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.”

Details are emerging regarding the death of Mitch McConnell's sister-in-law, Angela Chao. Apparently she backed her Tesla into a Texas pond and drowned. She was the CEO of the Foremost Group, an international shipping group. From their corporate website their locations are New York, Austin, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Imari.

"unlawful possession"

This reminds me. Local Houston coverage of the attempted mass shooting at Lakewood Church began with the headline "shooting renew interests in red flag laws". The El Salvador born Bernie Bro had a long arrest record including "unlawful possession" of a firearm. None of that stopped them. Yet some new law might have done the trick?

In other news, David Hoggv tried to make some claim that the KC shooting proved good guys with guns including cops don't stop gun crime. Hogg ignored the Houston incident in which good guy off duty cops killed the shooter.

They want these laws to use against us.

Bottom pic seems to show large floes on the shore, maybe pushed there by an onshore wind. Is Mendota subject to “stacking” of these floes into a kind of wall of ice that can wreck structures as it migrates onto the land?

I am a residential landlord in the Midwest. The state appraises all homes every 3 years for tax purposes. The appraised value is usually a percentage of what the property would sell for on the open market. That percentage varies.

My rental market is quite different from NY commercial. But doing some quick gross revenue to tax valuation calculations (and again, tax valuation, not market value), the $161m seems conservative.
