"The United Nations on Friday fired 12 of its employees in Gaza and began an investigation of them after charges by Israel that they had helped plan and participated in the Oct. 7 terrorist assault...."

"The workers, all men and all employed by the U.N. agency that aids Palestinians and known by the acronym UNRWA, are subject to a criminal investigation, two U.N. officials said. A U.N. official, briefed on the accusations, called the allegations 'extremely serious and horrific.'... UNWRA has been the principal agency overseeing the distribution of aid to Gazans amid a growing humanitarian crisis resulting from the war launched in the wake of the Oct. 7 attack...."

From "U.N. Aid Agency Investigates Claim That Some Workers Were Involved in Oct. 7 Attack/The United States temporarily cut off aid to UNRWA, the agency that aids Palestinians, citing allegations that 12 of its workers were involved in the Hamas-led assault" (NYT).

Nothing will happen to them. They'll also collect NY state unemployment insurance benefits.

Probably the majority, if not all, of the UNRWA in Gaza are either in Hamas or are Hamas supporters. I suspect Hamas has essentially taken over the organization and you cannot get hired otherwise.

The United Nations was quaint when it was generally useless and modestly corrupt. Now it is so corrupt that it has no reason to exist anymore.

What were your priors? The agency has 13,000 employees in Gaza. How many do you think are actively part of Hamas? One in 10? One in 100? One in 1,000? One in 2?

Time to push the UN headquarters building into the Hudson.

From the river to the sea,
We shall be UN free!

Only 12? Yeah. Right.

EAB said...

Why push the UN all the way over to the Hudson, given it sits on the East River?

Glad to see we cut off aid to UNRWA. If that actually happened. Now keep them out of Gaza forever.

They were shocked, shocked that gambling was going on in there.

Well, UN peacekeepers formed rape squads in the Congo and stood by and watched the massacres in Rwanda and Screbenicia. So, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

The 'no enemies to the left' mentality that tends to take hold in left wing organizations like this is what allows things like this to take root. I'm assuming 95% plus of people in that subgroup in the UN firmly believe the Palestinians are the good guys so it becomes unacceptable to question any actions someone may have taken that helps the good guys. In fact doing so probably would make them a bad guy.

as if UNRWA complicity is surprise! or so limited

Well, that is distressing. And distressingly predictable.

I was told, uncategorically the lies about the UN staff participating in the Oct 6th slaughter. were just that, lies. Debunked lies in fact.

TomHynes: "The agency has 13,000 employees in Gaza. How many do you think are actively part of Hamas?"

The relevant issue is not how many are actively part of Hamas, it's how many actively support Hamas. Hamas could not have dug 300 miles of tunnels without the knowledge and cooperation of the citizenry, and that cooperation comes from a majority of those that are not active members or active supporters of Hezbollah, the other local terrorist organization. Gaza is a snake pit, populated by snakes which is the precise reason none of Gaza's neighbors will touch a "Palestinian" with a 3-meter pole. Too bad, so sad, but the citizens of Gaza dug this snake pit and they are the ones who need to fill it in. They should get started while Israel is predisposed to lending a hand.

So how many UNRWA worker are there? 12 out of how many.

And here's a fact that the NYT's isn't headlining:

Over 120 UN workers (including RWA) have been killed by israel since Oct 8th. Israel didn't conduct an "investigation" of these UN workers to find out their guilt. Its just dropped bombs on Hospitals, schools, and churches, and killed them. Over 100 of them. Relief workers, Doctors, Medical personnel, etc.

But to the MSM the REAL STORY is that 12 UNRWA may have helped Hamas in their attack. "Help" being defined as giving information to Hamas.

Is there anything the brown people of Palestine can do to make 'muricans care about their being slaughtered and dispossessed? Perhaps if they would convert to Judaism. THen all our "christian" Leaders and goofy christian zionists could worship them as the "Chosen people" and "Our elders in faith". And give a damn about their being murdered. They certainly dont care about the CHRISTIAN arabs being killed.

Or maybe claim to be related to American blacks in someway. Then they could cry racism, get American liberals to care.

Let’s remember that these are allegations, and an allegation — no matter how heinous — is not proof. However if there is enough evidence for the 12 to go to trial then they need to be turned over to Israeli law enforcement.

The transnational community's two state solution was aborted with the Palestinian coup, and they have enabled its progress through shared/shifted responsibility to Israel, and contemporary empathetic support for murder, rape, torture, and abductions.

LOL. That would be way harder. My NYC geography is poor. Haven't been since 2009 when we were in Long Island City directly across from the glass box. You know, over the East River. Have plans to go to US Open in September though. Might have to look at a map.

Oh FFS! The UN acts like this was a huge surprise. There was a released hostage who did an interview and said she was taken care of by a woman teacher that was an UNRWA employee. Why no women fired?

That tunnel system looks elaborate and expensive. I wonder how much UN aid money was diverted to build it. I wonder how many UN people knew that funds were being diverted....The money spent on the tunnel system could have been used for far more needed and worthwhile projects in Gaza. Why didn't any among the ranks of those committed humanitarians voice their objections to such a foolhardy and wasteful project. I know that a Gazan who speaks against Hamas will have a short, unhappy life, but someone from the UN should have found some way to let the world know......Whatever happens after the current battle, Gaza needs some kind of honest observer on scene to make sure that aid money goes to aid the destitute and not the combatants. Strictly speaking, it's not colonialism to make sure that aid money goes to people in need as opposed to being given to murderous rapists.

The worst scandal in the untold history of how horrible UNRWA has been in sustaining the genocidal jihadi conflict with Israel and the West. Check out all that David Bedein has compiled on the 5th-generation “refugee camps” that indoctrinate into mass murder and the national replacement goal of Palestinianism for Israel. Google “Perspective on UNRWA’s War on the Jews” by AFSI and see what you think about what’s really going on.

Apparently Folke Bernadotte was the architect of UNRWA, the sole refugee agency devoted not to settling or resettlement of refugees, but to keeping conflicts going in perpetuity by demanding that Palestinian Arabs, unique among all refugees in the world, should have a sole right of maintaining refugee status from generation to generation in perpetuity, and until they “liberate” lands a few short miles away from where they presently live so that the Israelis currently live there can be forever targeted with terrorism or forcible removal.

The weird part is he keeps agitating for support here where few buy into the poor poor pitiful Palestine myth. Progressives the world over agree with him along with millions here but he wants respect from “Murica” (a derogatory term for rural Americans) for his POV. It’s a weird scene man!

Anything actionable here? There must be some way for these wronged women to seek redress within our legal system. Fortunately for Cuomo, he didn't get interviewed and deny the allegations. That would open him up to a charge of defamation. Still, I'm sure many of these women have been irreparably harmed and sleep with guns beneath their pillows.

Let’s remember that these are allegations, and an allegation — no matter how heinous — is not proof.

This is true.

Also true (apparently): these 12 were fired, right off the bat - not "suspended/put on administrative leave pending investigation."

Big Mike is a typical Zionist. Commies react in the same way. No defense of Israel war crimes, just insult and smear anyone who brings it up.

Completely dishonest, but waddayagonnado?

If you only care about "your side" getting killed and no one else, then its idenfensible. So, better just to attack the other side. The commies practiced that from day 1.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Folke Bernadotte, Count of Wisborg (2 January 1895 – 17 September 1948) was a Swedish nobleman and diplomat. In World War II he negotiated the release of about 31,000 prisoners from German concentration camps, including 450 Danish Jews from the Theresienstadt camp. They were released on 14 April 1945. ...
After the war, Bernadotte was unanimously chosen to be the United Nations Security Council mediator in the Arab–Israeli conflict of 1947–1948. He was assassinated in Jerusalem in 1948 by the paramilitary Zionist group Lehi while pursuing his official duties."

"Former Lehi leader Yitzhak Shamir became Prime Minister of Israel in 1983."
