I think the opinion is all firmly on the side of saying that Biden should not debate Trump. Anyone who supports Biden is only bringing up this subject in order to say what they always say, that Trump cannot be considered a normal candidate. The linked article should be read as an effort to shape public opinion away from thinking that Biden can't debate or is afraid to debate. You need to understand that Trump is a monster. And Biden is... well, he's not Trump.

OK, but he already debated Trump. And Trump is still the same man he was in 2020. If Biden doesn't want to debate, it wont be because Trump has suddenly got so abnormal and "Crazy". It will be because Biden has become so enfeebled they don't want the USA public to see it.

Trump was screwed over in 2020. The Nevertrumper Republicans on the debate commission allowed biased moderaters like Chris Wallace. One debate was cancelled due to fact Covid concerns. The third included all kinds of weird restrictions so that Trump wouldn't steamroll over Biden.
But y'know, do we really need debates. Biden record of POTUS if there for all to see. So is trump's record as President. Compare and constrast. Why do we need more words? And the dumbo Democrats and libtards will vote for Biden NO MATTER WHAT.

The anticipated response to this, from Democrats, will be to lock Joe in the basement again. They'll give him a few feeble appearances with small audiences, to sucker the Republicans, and then juice him up again for an important appearance just before election day, to sucker the voters.
Is this maybe a sign that Joe can't be juiced up for a debate? I see it as a trial balloon. The proper response to this kind of electioneering is a demand for historical normalcy. 'Where is the Democratic candidate?', should be the incessant refrain, each time Trump makes another campaign stump appearance (he's an animal when it comes to this stuff). 'Why won't Joe debate?' should be the incessant followup. If you want better politics, you're going to have to demand it.

Trump should attend one of the Republican Debates. He should claim that he is doing so because it is important for the future of democracy that the electorate see the candidates side by side in a debate situation so that they can make an informed decision. He should say that anyone who ducks out of a debate is not acting in the best interests of democracy.
Prepping the battlespace so "Biden Shouldn't Have To Debate" can be used later regardless of the GOP's candidate.

We saw this all in 2020, and it was garbage then. Besides, in order for Biden to participate, the debate would have to be early in the day and within 200 miles of Wilmington, DE.
They were never going to allow Biden to debate Trump.

Biden's cognitive decline is obvious. He looks frail, and shuffles like Tim Conway's "Oldest Man" character from The Carol Burnette Show. But I guess when you place him at a podium, he has enough evil in him to yell and lie his ass off like at Valley Forge.

What's with Democrats refusing to debate? Faux-Governor Hobbs down here in AZ refused to debate. Do they think if they can maintain the Generic Democrat image they'll get elected? Do they think they have it sewn up by fraud so why bother? Delegitimizing the opposition?

Indeed. The thing is they don't need to give a stage to Republicans, because the media carries the Democrat side of the debate every day. Even during the debate, the event is lost for Republicans simply by the questions asked and the important issues to voters not even being addressed. There is nothing new here.
And as in the past, when debate time rolls around, the story will be how Republicans are afraid to debate as the reason for not actually having them. They'll pretend like Democrats have always wanted to debate and that today's story was never written.
They want to avoid Biden having to answer a question regarding Israel and Gaza. He will lose voters no matter what he says and will not win any.

While Joe is a cunning fabulist, and an accomplished plagiarist, he's lost a step--heckfire, half a dozen steps--on his mental agility. Never capable of being fast on his feet, he now doesn't always know where he is. Is this a debate stage? Should I say something? Can I find the exit without Dr. Jill to guide me?
There's a mercy rule in Little League baseball. When one team is so far ahead that it would be cruel to continue, they end the game. I'm pretty sure that the mercy rule would have to be invoked in a Biden Trump debate.

Biden refused to debate his primary opponents. He can’t refuse debating Trump. That would amount to a forfeit wrt the debates, and would look so bad the media would even notice. The media host these things, remember, so less revenue and exposure for them…
Dinky repeats accusations that are really confessions. Has anybody fact checked Biden’s false claims that he is not involved in Hunter’s business? The laptop is full of evidence that this is a lie, and that evidence is corroborated by other sources, but if it doesn’t show up in the mainstream media, then it didn’t happen.

Actually I love it when the media/Democrats list all the reasons why Trump is a "danger to democracy" because everyone is reminded immediately that Trump has never done any of those things while he was President the first time, but Biden has. Ergo, no need for debate. Just publish the comprehensive list.
A debate won't matter in 2024. The distance between what each side believes to be true is now so far apart that a debate would result in the audience for each side hearing only what it already believed to be true, and discounting the opposition's statements as unbelievable.
TLDR: Debate only works if the audience from both sides are living in reality. That hasn't been the case in the US since at least the 2nd Reagan term.

Why is it an issue at all? The CPD,( It's Commission for Presidential Debates BTW.) isn't a law that requires anyone to debate.
But it's nice to know that you are encouraging Biden to debate Trump.
Whatever the Commission's proper name, the Democrats think it has worked fine all these cycles and support it, so unless the Republicans are bluffing there can't be any debates.
