This picture is beautiful. The light reflecting off the snow and the light from the sun are both just bright enough not to overwhelm each other. It’s just grand. Thanks for catching that.

@Althouse, more than any other picture you’ve posted since I’ve been coming here (which goes back to before you and Meade were married), this one makes me think of the Frost poem “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” particularly the last stanza:

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”

Oh so superb.

More snow. The power went out at 3:25 p.m. PST and PSE estimates restoration around 10:00 p.m. It's a large outage, encompassing most of Snoqualmie and North Bend.

We have a whole house generator, so we still have power.

Chouraqui Bible (translated from French by google)
4. These are the births of the heavens and of the earth in their creation,
in the day of making jhwh elohims earth and heavens.
5. Not every bush in the field was yet in the ground,
all the grass in the field had not yet sprouted:
yes, yhwh elohims had not made it rain on the earth,
and glebeux, period, to serve the glebe.
6. but a vapor rises from the earth,
it waters all sides of the glebe.
7. yhwh elohims forms the soil - adam, dust of the soil - adama.
he breathes into his nostrils the breath of life:
and it is the glebeux, a living being.

Harold Bloom book of J
When there was as yet no shrub of the field upon the earth, and as yet no grasses of the field had sprouted, because Yahweh had not sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the soil, but a flow welled up from the ground and watered the whole surface of the earth, then yahweh molded adam from the earth's dust (adamah), and blew into the nostrils the breath of life, and Adam became a living being.

Both being the Hebrew Bible, Chouraqui rendering it word by word and google screwing it up. Glebeux apparently means dust or the man made from dust.

Winter light is a very good Bergman movie. It deals with the difficulty of relgious faith. It got mixed reviews in the USA.

Needed more sex and tapdancing per Varity. And several NYC critics wanted a shootout, or at least a car case. Or maybe a few jokes from a wacky neighbor.

Lovely. Looks like an old etching without my glasses on.

Cold Grey day
So beautiful,
So Beautiful,

Found it, Fleetwod Mac

I thank my God for perfect love and peace
I'll hold her tight and always as
And, and always
Mine forever, love, love
So great, so divine
Trees, the grey day has changed everything
It's beautiful, just beautiful
So beautiful, this first grey day is ours
My loving child
By grace of God we live, my child, and love
I crawl to my knees, my dear love
Will you promise to kiss my perfect healing hands and fingers?
And make a promise to me you will always obey
My each command and never, ever fail me
You'll be mine forever more
The sun is here, my love, my love
My sun, our sun complete
God bless our perfect, perfect grey day
With trees so bare, so bare
But oh so beautiful, so beautiful
The grey, blue sky, the world is here
Ours, just, just ours
Our own, hold us tight
I am yours, just a dream
And go on dreaming
May this joy of ours never ever cease
My love, my love
Pregnant sweet, love is tender

No Labels files election interference complaint with DOJ naming individuals with The Lincoln Project. This should be interesting.

Who or what painted those trees such a privileged color?

TickTock said...

It looks painted, so many of the trees outlined in black as though sketched first. A masterly photograph.

I can't figure out WHO would WATCH this crapfest, and WHO believes it?? No wonder why our country is going down the toilet when THIS SHOW is a part of the ABC News Division.

"In addition to spreading the usual lies about Republicans trying to erase black people from history, white co-host Sara Haines proclaimed that it was “important” for white kids like her own to be made to “feel bad” in history class, particularly about slavery.
Whoopi claims American history classes won't mention black people at all and they'll just say "There were some people...but we're not going to tell you who they were."
Sunny then claims black people were the only group that "built this country."

Picture calls for the GIF "It's snowing sideways here!"

That is an extraordinary photograph. Remarkably beautiful. It reminds me of some photos of Ansel Adams.

One of the great ones. And it's part of Wisconsin that even snow on a gray day is a more then just snow on a gray day. But how many can show us this?

"It is a true shame that Nikki Haley and other Republicans say President Trump can’t win elections and that he causes chaos. The chaos has been caused by relentless lies about Trump and political prosecutions. What was Trump supposed to do? Just shut up and take it?"

Since none of my previous comments showed up, and Ann hasn't answered my emails, it looks like I've been completely barred from posting. I'm putting this here on the odd chance that's not true, even though it sure feels like it. I've started a podcast. I think yesterday's segment was the best so far.

Sport Illustrated went woke. Now it's broke. They've laid off most of their staff.

I never read it, but my wife has(?)/had a subscription. Pretty soon it'll be definitely be had.
