The last paragraph of Abbott's declaration says it all:

The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the c0ontrary. The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.

The Constitution couldn't be more clear on this. It's an invasion, not immigration. Immigration is done legally through a process. If the process isn't followed- it's not immigration, no matter how you want to dress it up. And non-Mexicans passing through Mexico? International laws and treaties require they ask to stay there. They are and should be Mexico's problem, not ours.

Link to full statement if you haven't seen it lays everything out clearly- and gives all the reasons necessary for Republicans to impeach Biden- he's failed to do his constitutional duty:

Sohrab Ahmari has a great take on the Trump-Haley race:

'When it comes to many questions of policy, Trump is by far the more moderate candidate. Meanwhile, figures such as Haley represent the neoliberal extremism that the GOP establishment has long sought to pass off as the “responsible” position.

Trump, for example, is squarely with the national majority that wants to protect earned benefits. Haley, by contrast, has called for raising the retirement age and expanding privatised Medicare plans to boost “competition” in the system – measures that are unpopular with everyone except think tank libertarians, Wall Street fee-skimmers, and the ghoulish private insurance industry.

On foreign policy, Haley’s platform is a well-preserved time capsule from circa 2003. If anything, her agenda is more extreme than that of George W Bush & Co in their heyday. While Bush limited his hawkish ambitions to Arab states and goat herdsmen in the Hindu Kush – and look how that turned out – Haley wants to take on Russia, China and Iran simultaneously. She has described those three powers, two of which are nuclear-armed, as a new “axis of evil”. Here again, Trump is much closer to voters increasingly fed up with endless proxy interventions and wary of regime-change wars.'

Check out @dilleymemeteam on X. They made a meme rap video of Nikki Haley getting banged in the backseat of an SUV by the two staffers that was reported by Daily Mail (she then banned Daily Mail from NH rallies).

Best part is, @TheWillFolks, who is one of the dudes that banged her in the back of an SUV while her husband was overseas (signed a deposition accordingly) ...corrected the meme maker simply stating "SRX, not an Escalade".

I figure you don't have to link X with HTML because the shit is too easy to find. Especially when it goes viral.

'Course, my problem is, I'm a colonel, so I guess I'll just have to keep taking cold showers until they elect some gal president.

The Melanie reference took me a minute - I was about 4-5 when that song came out. I loved it - it was a grown-up singing about kid things (though I'd never had skates with a key - my roller skates, though they did clamp onto my tennies, were plastic, and eventually disintegrated under me as I was sharing as fast as I could. The road rash was epic. But - loved that song).

Thank you for the memory.

The Democrat Party is expert at finding ballots. Just ask Dino Rossi about that. He had won the Washington governor's race in 2004, but by a narrow margin. Automatic recount, and King County elections found some ballots stuffed in a drawer. Margin shrinks. Recount again. More mysterious ballots show up. Margin shrinks. Again, and Rossi loses and Chris Gregorio wins.

Then there's the 2020 election where 4 of the 6 swing states shut down counting around 11:00 p.m., find a few 100,000 of ballots, and Trump goes from beating Biden by a comfortable margin to losing by a small margin. A miracle!

Biden brags about the Democrat election fraud organization.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

At some point it's becoming apparent that Biden could still lose, if people had to write in Trump, because Trump's name could be taken off the ballots in many blue states.

I would characterize that as remarkable, when nothing appears to be. I mean, if indicting your opponent 91 times is passe, there's very little left that could shock the conscience.

What if. I would tell people, if I was Trump, that they can write in the candidate of their choice. I mean, that's my impression, I could be wrong, I'm no expert. And I don't want a knock at the door for spreading "misinformation".

Tell people "If they take me off the ballot, write my name in" and the spell out T R U M P.

Fani Willis and Nikki Haley. Seems like both had affairs while holding powerful positions with hired staffers. The goose and the gander are coming home to roost.

I'm sympathetic to their plight. Everyone gets some validation by getting laid. It's human. Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew are on anther level. Trump's and JFKs affairs are a little more understandable.

I don't blame Fani and Nikki. Everyone gets lonely. But can we stop the "holier than thou" bullshit?

Maybe Fani and Nikki can sue these dudes for defamation since the sex didn't play to their advantage.

I really don't care who fucks who, unless it involves...young women and young boys. Priests, Epstein, Politicians, and Hollywood. That's a crime. Bigger crime they get away with it.

Blogger Mike of Snoqualmie was mentioning quality control inspectors in another thread- but QCI is an interesting field. QCI's are totally unneeded- if every workman knows his job and does it properly. QCIs simply verify that someone else has done their job properly. And doesn't actually mean anything unless the QCIs themselves are competent and conscientious.

I have a story to tell- but it exceeds the 4096 character limit no matter how I condense it. But trust me- Competent conscientious workers doing their job properly are the only thing keeping you safe, keeping the power plants running, keeping the refineries from blowing up, keeping your food unadulterated and safe, keeping your car's brakes from falling off, etc. and so on and so forth. QCIs and paperwork simply find someone to blame when something goes wrong.

Even in your house- do you really think the town inspector checked everything the plumbers and electricians and roofers did? No. He trusted them, and by default, you trusted them, to all do their job properly. Spot checks, at most, are what was done. There are YouTube videos of new home inspectors going through and finding all sorts of things wrong- that most of the time, won't matter, Until the one time they do...

How do we elect stupid people like Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), who sent a message to Mark Meadows three days before the attempted coup on January 6, 2021, urging the Chief of Staff to talk to Trump about invoking Marshall Law when Marshall University doesn't even have a law school.

Turns out that he knew nothing about martial law either or whether invoking the power of the military was appropriate to prevent the peaceful transfer of power to President Biden. But you know, everybody has seen "2000 Mules," that so-called "fact-based" conspiracy movie made up from Dinesh D'Souza's conspiracy theory book by the same name. It seems that Antifa and Black Lives Matter were involved in "Ballot Trafficking," whatever that is. And everything was happening so fast - but no regrets from Ralph Norman who still believes that vote counts were somehow changed.

The funny thing is that no one has questioned the Iowa Caucus or the New Hampshire Primary votes. Unlike Jan 6 activity, The Three Percenters, The Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, Rhode Island Patriots, and other self-described Nazi and white supremacist militia have not yet been accused of involvement with Trump's campaign.

THIS is why I will never vote for a GOPe ever again. What difference does it make. They are Progressives in drag. The ONLY reason to vote Republican today, is Donald Trump. Mictch McConnell is busy selling us out as fast as he can, before Donald Trump can put him out to pasture.

"Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly been pressuring Republican senators to pledge to support his (the Democrats') "secret" border bill before it's released to the public for open debate."

"We are told by such luminaries as Eric Holder, who ensured Mexican drug cartels were fully armed, at least one of those weapons being used to murder a Border Patrol officer, Donald Trump will be a dictator who will destroy “our democracy.” By “our democracy” Democrats/socialist/communists (D/s/cs) mean eternal one party rule, a tyranny of the majority.
Trump terrifies D/s/cs and the Self Imagined Elite (SIE). There is much overlap between them in Kamala Harris, Venn Diagram, fashion. Their warnings of a Trump dictatorship are not only classic projection, but evidence of terminal Trump Derangement Syndrome. They fear he’ll do what they’ve done: prosecute his political enemies."

As I reflect on the dishonesty of the various governmental agencies regarding Covid (Fauci:"I am science") with no contrition, we now have the two spokes people (Cringe Jean-Pierre, John Kirby) lie about the border invasion day after day. And they do it with a straight face.

Democrats have been brainwashed. I can think of no other explanation.

Now I can't remember how this was pushed to me, just that it was in fact pushed to me. This morning I was watching the 1983 Christopher Walken film The Dead Zone. I read the book back in my late teens or so but didn't remember the plot, and I thought, "Why not a little Walken with my coffee?"

To sum up: Johnny (Walken, not nearly as wacky as he eventually became) is in a car accident that puts him in a coma for five years. When he awakens, he discovers that when he touches someone, he can see what, in essence, that person's destiny is. Furthermore, he eventually discovers that he can change that destiny if he can prevent the person from being in a particular place at a particular time where that destiny is being realized.

Enter Martin Sheen, playing the most ridiculous caricature imaginable of a Republican warmongering Cold War politician (the movie says he's a "3rd party candidate" but he is clearly supposed to be a populist Republican). He shakes Johnny's hand in a crowd at a rally, and Johnny sees that he will eventually become president, and then will launch a first nuclear strike, simply because it "came to him" in the middle of the night that this was to be his legacy, his destiny. Johnny of course must try to assassinate him to stop this chain of events.

Again, 1983 movie, so obviously a hit on Reagan. But it was pushed to me this morning. Go figure.

If the eletion were held today Trump is 3 points ahead of Biden in the RCP polls. Trump is also the favorite by nearly 11 points in the RCP betting pools.
Providing voting is on the up and up,(I know), Trump is going to win.

The U.S. Supreme Court seemed to end a deadly stalemate in which a mother and her two small children died, when it ruled — in a rather surprising 5-4 split, given the massive weight of legal precedent favoring federal supremacy — that Border Patrol agents could resume removing the sharp razor wire that Abbott’s ever-growing army has installed in the middle of the Rio Grande.

But Texas Gov. Abbott — channeling the Confederate spirit of Gen. Joseph Shelby, won’t back down. Adopting the narrowest possible interpretation of the High Court’s ruling, the governor is not only not surrendering Shelby Park but is putting even more razor wire up along the river at the site for frequent refugee crossings. On Tuesday, he declared, “The Texas National Guard is holding the line in Eagle Pass. Texas will not back down...”

https://www.inquirer.com/opinion/texas-border-abbott-biden-national-guard-20240125.html

Biden's response should be "My dog's bigger than your dog." The stop sign goes up when the Texas National Guard is federalized - ending the military command structure running through the Governor's office. There are not enough Texas Rangers and Abbott cannot lawfully organize nor recruit a private militia.
