"I was fluid. I didn't really have much restraint."

Ramaswamy expresses pleasure with himself. I watched some, not all of it, and I think he did very well.

This morning, I'm seeing he's trending on X, and NYT is likening him to Trump and Alex Jones:
Mimicking what Mr. Trump did in 2016, Mr. Ramaswamy, a wealthy businessman, has portrayed himself as the lone “outsider” onstage, the only one uncorrupted by big donors and willing to speak the shocking “truth.”... Emulating Alex Jones, he declared that “Jan. 6 now does look like it was an inside job” — a reference to a far-right conspiracy theory that the attack on the Capitol was orchestrated by the federal government rather than by Trump supporters. He also said “the climate change agenda is a hoax” and that “the great replacement theory” — the theory that liberal immigration policies are part of a scheme to dilute the power of white Americans — “is not some grand right-wing conspiracy theory, but a basic statement of the Democratic Party’s platform.”
He was crude and cruel. He mocked Mr. Christie’s weight, suggesting he walk himself off the stage, “have a nice meal and get the hell out of this race.” Mr. Ramaswamy went on to portray Ms. Haley as a “puppet” of corporate America and the military-industrial complex. The crowd often booed, never more so than when he attacked Ms. Haley as a “fascist.”

So if you haven’t caught on by now, once more from the top: when the left is lying to you they don’t bother hiding classic liar tells- duping language and behavior is unnecessarily extreme.

…they cooked the vote and orchestrated the capitol stuff to try and get the curious to stop looking…

…next year it will be ‘illegal’ to vote for Donald Trump…because of the convictions in trials you didn’t get to see…

…and when they get away with it look for the smirk of duper’s delight. Even Joe can still pull that off..

Vivek executed a complete beatdown. It was like when Creighton beat Nebraska by 29 this week.

Huge risk for him to ask her to name three Ukrainian provinces, but she couldn’t do it. And that look on her face! Classic. And then Christie couldn’t do it either.

Nikki is a corrupt fraud. She’s finished.

If Trump was smart, he’d pick Vivek for VP.

The NYT uses guilt by association against Vivek.

But J6 was a government trap and the new tapes are proving that.

Climate change is more of a scam than a hoax. But that’s just a definitional thing I have with Vivek.

I struggle to find a single thing I disagree with Ramaswamy.

EXACTLY like George Floyd, post Jan 6 narrative is 100% an inside govt job. From Pelosi nixing the National Guard, to multiple govt agencies seeding the crowd with provocateurs. For example we know the govt used flash bang, concussive grenades to create the violence. We learn everday more facts that support the conclusion the govt created Jan 6 protests. For instance we know now that lots of Jan 6 congressional committee (all selected by Pelosi, NOT bipartisan) interviews are gone, assumed destroyed.

Anyway Ramaswamy is right on all these topics mentioned in the snippet.

Vivek Ramaswamy is simply mirroring his target audience. Like some one said on another thread, this is the VP debate. VR is definitely leading the pack.

Most of what the Times says about Ramaswamy sounds about right. That the Times thinks it's a far right conspiracy just makes it more likely to be true.

The Real Question IS: who will be Trump's VP?
Because that person will become President will they assassinate Trump..
Unless they assassinate BOTH at the same time. NOTE: republicans MUST keep US House

It was pretty brave of Jamie Dimon to come out so openly against Trump. I bet Trump won't forget that so easily.

Re: Trump’s VP
Trump likes people who are media savvy, and loyal, but Ramaswamy is just too annoying and too desperate to play the lead. If you want to be in Trump's orbit, you have to know when to speak and when to be quiet, and how to play a supporting role. I'm not sure if Haley would want the position or if Trump would trust Haley this go around, but she would seem to be a natural VP choice if the goal is to expand Trump's appeal beyond his core base of supporters.

Ramaswampy hasn't even demonstrated the ability to win a city election, let alone a national election, and it looks highly likely that he is going to lose badly in the primaries too. Why would Trump want to have his campaign associated with a loser?

Now that the US has spent the $100 billion on Ukraine, and they are still losing, the Pentagon and Austin are threatening to send American sons and daughters to fight Russia.

Vivek's NeoCon attacks on Haley were well timed. She would do the same. Trump won't! Everyone knows that.

You want our kids and grandkids fighting against Russia for that clown Zelensky? Biden/US money laundering? Unethical Bioweapon development? If so, Nikki Haley is your girl, and Biden is your man.

The only American that should be sent to fight on the front lines for Ukraine is retired Trans-General Miley.

Post-Covid shut down, this means something Progressives will shout down until it's acknowledged to be true, but too late to do anything about.

Until recently, the truth about Jan 6th has been concealed. It still isn't clear how many hundreds of FBI informants were involved, why thousands of hours of video was suppressed and why Capitol security was so lax.

The Climate Change agenda is clearly designed to lower our living standards. Carbon dioxide is coming from China and India. Fix them, and leave us alone. Pushing for an all-electric America without the infrastructure isn't feasible.

Can anyone argue that our borders are secure and that immigration policies are in the best interest of Americans? It may not be a replacement scenario, but it certainly increases crime, costs us billions and makes education impossible.

Now we have Vivek, who points out that the "approved" candidates are vile persons unworthy of holding any position of public trust. I wonder how he'll do.

Interesting that we’re talking about these minor things from the two candidates who shouldn’t have been there at all but were because Ronna McDaniel is in the tank for Trump. What should be on everyone’s lips is Haley’s having to disown her own recent positions, like naming everyone on social media and vetoing a bill prohibiting sex mutilation for kids, while bragging about how she’s the preferred candidate of Wall Street.

"“the great replacement theory” — the theory that liberal immigration policies are part of a scheme to dilute the power of white Americans — “is not some grand right-wing conspiracy theory, but a basic statement of the Democratic Party’s platform.”

Its a scheme to dilute the power of conservatives in general, White, Black, Hispanic etc. If the non-white immigrants were voting for Republicans, Democrats would have machine guns at the border.

Vivek shows that other business people understood Trump and can emulate him with voters: say what's true but hasn't been said out loud yet and people will love you for it.

I don't trust him though. He says stuff, but I don't think he means it. His COVID beliefs show that. He'll say whatever he needs to get what he wants.

And once again, the idea that DeSantis should have waited until 28 is dumb. Trump will have a VP who will be in the fast lane for the nomination. Unless you think that Trump loses next year...and if you do, then why can't DeSantis shoot his shot? He's the most obvious VP choice because he's running for president not VP. But Trump is going to pick the horrible Haley and you all will give him a bunch of excuses on why it's ok.

If Trump is who you all imagine he is, he'll move his residency to NJ and pick DeSantis as his VP. But he'll keep on hating DeSantis and pick Haley as his VP and then either lose or get elected but immediately have his hands tied by the people he brought in in his admin.

Pushing for an all-electric America without the infrastructure isn't feasible.

The problem is deeper than that. Build the stations(if they filled a need, we would have about 5% more than is needed by private industry)

All that gasoline has to be replaced with electricity? The infrastructure is not in the planning stage. Just siting a new generating plant take ~ 6 years. Then you have to get environmental permits, negotiate righ of ways, start complying with regulations, etc, etc, etc. There has been zero talk of bringing generation capacity up to the level needed.

The federal govt driving this "innovation" is proof it is doomed to fail. Consider Space exploration, and tell me the government has the cultural capacity to electrify transportation

I can't think of a clearer mark of the descent of the Althouse blog, than this post.

Where once this blog was marked by thoughtful discussion of legal, political and cultural topics, we now see Althouse congratulating Vivek Ramaswamy on a presidential debate performance where he called the January 6 Capitol riot "an inside job." And getting mostly broad and enthusiastic support from the readership she has cultivated for these last eight years of Trumpism.

There's no intelligent debate, no illuminating discussion, to be had about whether J6 "was an inside job." I don't care what circumstances I find myself in over the next year; anyone who suggests to me that J6 "was an inside job" will be met with unrestrained derision. If we learned anything from the 2022 midterms it is that while Republicans enjoy some powerful advantages in gerrymandered House districts and in red state elections, the 2020 Election Deniers are consistent election losers. From Pennsylvania to Michigan to Arizona, election deniers in important swing-state and swing-district elections lost -- decidedly.

Althouse do you believe that January 6 "was an inside job"? I don't want to know if you think that it was clever messaging on some strange level. I want to know if you think that it is right, and/or excusable, and/or good for the country for a person in Ramaswamy's position to be seriously suggesting that January 6 "was an inside job." I certainly don't want a government to prevent Ramaswamy from saying it. I want serious and intelligent people to ridicule Ramaswamy for saying it. Foremost among my proposed group of "serious and intelligent people" would be current and former professors at leading state law schools.

The U.S. Department of Justice has initiated more than a thousand prosecutions from that day. Not a single defendant has presented a credible defense of "Not my fault; it was an inside job." The DoJ has a nearly perfect record in its proseucutions. And in more cases than I can count, J6 defendants pleading guilty as charged have allocuted that they regret having come under the spell of Donald Trump after the 2020 election and that they wished they had never participated in the attack on the Capitol.

Re: the "Great Replacement,"

This ought not even to be controversial. I see it bandied about constantly on liberal Op-Ed pages, in the form "Our own population isn't increasing enough to handle the jobs standing open, so we need to import workers from other countries to make up the difference." And if you say, "What, like Norway? Or Ukraine? Or Canada? Or Japan?," you're told, "No, like poor countries where people long to come to the US. Venezuela. Haiti. Sub-Saharan Africa."

The only thing explicitly missing from the "Grand Remplacement" (this was originally a French theory) is the idea that the imported people will then vote for more people like themselves, for Democrats, or both. But that's likely enough. And it's just a fact that this will result inevitably in a changing of the American complexion, so to speak. It might be inconsequential; it might even be irrelevant. But it isn't false.

Douglas B. Levene, "respectable" republican, ("Lifelong Republican"? Hmmm), is on the record at Althouse blog, explicitly and literally supporting the concept of party insiders alone selecting the republican nominee in a smoke filled room outside the view of the republican party base voters.

Explicitly.

To "protect" "democracy"and "the republic" no doubt.

He is also of the "learned" opinion Jan 6 was an armed insurrection with roving battalions of Trump supporters waiting around for Trumpian orders to break out the military weapons from all the arms caches pre-staged around DC! And all the DOJ has to do is show a comms link, somehow, connecting Trump to this mythical MAGA rapid reaction force and voila! Trump can be marched behind the West Wing and summarily executed!

You know, the way our Founders intended.

Duh.

No word yet from Douglas B. Levene whether or not F-15's loaded up with tactical nukes and dieseling M1 Abrahms tanks were prepped for action as well by these mouth-breathing Trump supporting idiots that comprise about 80% of the party, apparently.

So much "respectable" "republican" analysis and insight being offered up by our self-anointed "betters".

LLR-democratical, Violent Homosexual Rage Rape Fantasist & Banned Commenter Chuck: "I can't think of a clearer mark of the descent of the Althouse blog, than this post."

Long-time readers of Althouse blog will recall that prior to his being banned, LLR-democratical Chuck has a long history of posting vicious and violent threats against conservative women, pseudo-sexual and obsessive posting regarding the young children of conservative politicians, viciously racist posts against black conservatives and, worst of all, a sick obsessive insistence in harrassing Althouse herself regarding this blog.

All on top of years of supporting every democratical politician and democratical policy.

Who could ever forget Chuck lying about wanting the strongest possible border controls? It took Meade about 15 minutes of interrogation to completely destroy that LLR facade and expose Chuck for actually, literally, wanting ZERO border or immigration controls!

A classic.

And LLR-democratical Chuck's weeklong, gin-induced?, complete psychotic meltdown over the Huckabee-Sanders Pecan Pie "Incident"!

Another classic!

This all came into perfect focus prior to Chuck's banning when he explicitly, proudly and loudly, admitted he was ONLY posting at Althouse to:
1) Lie about and smear conservatives and republicans
2) Drive a wedge between Althouse and her readers

Again, these were explicit admissions by our potentially gin-soaked, psychologically damaged pro-Whitmer fanboy Chuck (he claims to hail from Muchigan and he just adores Whitmer).

It was not long after that another duo of LLR types showed up in support of Chuck: lonejustice (not very good at it I'm afraid) and the even more transparent Rich.

I predicted LLR-democratical and Banned Commenter Chuck would reappear with greater frequency as the 2024 campaigm heated up and, well, here we are.

His apparent psychoses probably preclude any other result, even if he is working with an entire team of therapists.

Lets hope he is for the sake of his neighbors if no one else.
