I watched this first without sound. It was not at all what I was expecting to see first thing in the morning.

Just watched it again with the music - of course, from the post title and the interjected moves, I knew what the music would be, but it was STILL not what I was expecting!

What a hoot - thank you!

I love me some tap dancing in the morning! Very nice and thank you for this.

And felicidades a todos mis amigos aqui.

Especially our hostess for providing this blog. A gift that gives all year long.

I like the untied bowties. Whimsical. Merry Christmas Ann and Meade. I've read the blog every day for many years (pre-Meade!). Might buy one more gift today using the Amazon Althouse portal of course.

The unfastened gray bow tie is not symmetrical with the red one. It hangs down a little lower on the right. It's these small details that wreck the performance. It's the kind of thing that Fred Astaire and George Murphy would have worked out in rehearsal.

The joy of tap : )

Well done.

Thumbs up.

Nice!

Using tap as part music reminds me of Tilly and the Wall

one of my favorite "never made it" bands

I link to them every couple of years -- that video is now up to 600,000 views...

Thanks, Tofu King!

Thank you, Ann Althouse!

23 year old son and I loved this! “Fear that” he said.

Awesome!

@William
The other tie is green.
It's these small details that wreck the comment. ;)

Is Irish step dancing the same as tap dancing?

Loved the synchronization of the steps with the music.

Is this tapping or clogging? I would have thought, the latter.

Merry Christmas to All.

I took tap as a college PE elective. I lasted about two weeks.

Bravo, dudes.

Althouse, you forgot to include this important commercial:

Really good...

That's pretty good. But can they do this? Fish Slapping Dance.

Thanks for that, dear Ann. Merry Christmas to you, yours and my fellow travelers on this essential part of my day. God bless us, every one.

I think they're sort of Irish Dance/Tap fusion? But they're always a delight to watch!

This AI stuff is really amazing.

Love it. Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night.

FWBuff said...

That was charming and impressive and festive! Thanks for sharing it.

Merry Christmas to all, especially to Althouse and Meade!

Now, that's a Christmas dance, unlike Jill Biden's insulting video.

Those guys can dance - so much fun to watch. In tap - you MUST watch the feet / same with Irish dance. I watched some other videos from the Gardiner Brothers - they are very amazing.

After seeing this, I spent too much time investigating the two Irish Dance brothers behind it. Talent and hard work!

farmgirl said...

That was soooo freaking cool. Thanks!!

When you posted the dancers at the WH- this is the style I was expecting. It seems so much more professional. Old fashioned. More professional/less artsy.

Bwdik.

This is Irish Dance. Predates tap by a few hundred centuries.

Fun video. Merry Christmas or seasons greetings to all in the Althousian virtual universe.

That sounded like my favorite singer, Jose Feliciano. Thanks.

Saint Croix, make that 600,001 views. I liked it, thanks for the link.

Feliz Navidad. Just heard the Bobnoxius version on the radio - "The police nabbed my dad"

Not tap dancing. It's Irish dancing, and they are Irish I believe.

"Is Irish step dancing the same as tap dancing?"

Tap dancing grew out of Irish dancing with a small amount of influence from African dance when the Irish and Blacks met in the US. Irish dancing goes back into prehistory.

Perhaps William is colorblind. I have a friend who is, and as best as we can determine, he experiences the green forest as gray.

FWIW I've been taking an Irish dance class for 5 weeks. Getting pretty good too.

Next week we begin to learn the bottom half.

Pause in random places. At any place they are both so synchronized. A wonderful performance.

Similarly amazing but very different.

And now for something completely different.

Two things completely gast my flabber: how insanely talented some people are, and how hard they work at it.

Yeah, just about every OK Go video is an amazing visual spectacle.

Here's how they did the airplane video: OK Go - Upside Down & Inside Out BTS - How We Did It

On his 1st day in office, Biden issued 7 executive orders going out of their way to destroy the border protections his predecessor had enacted. Seven. And he kept going. Why do we pretend the border disaster is anything other than completely intentional? https://cmsny.org/biden-immigration-executive-actions/

About 10-15 years ago, I was vacationing on Sanibel island off of Ft. Myers, FL. There was a major real estate bust going on nationwide and a suburb of Ft. Myers, Lehigh Acres, was mostly vacant spec homes as a result. I was shocked to read that Jose Feliciano and a woman were living in his uncle's house that had been burgled. To think that as successful a musician as Jose would end up being taken in by relatives.....

Enjoyed his music.....wonder what the royalties are for Feliz
