Hillary at her best — summarizing the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

Spring forward! What difference, at this point, does it make.

Anyone with access to the Clinton Foundation's remaining funds can still afford lots of toadies to make them sound good.

Hillary's greatest accomplishment in life is finding Bill. It is in fact her only accomplishment. Again. Still.

Her explanation is spot on... but her wishful thinking regarding humanitarian aid and the hostages is just that... wishful thinking.

I've been saying it for a long time. Hamas uses human shields in everything they do. They are monsters. Nothing new - but glad she said it.

More evidence of the civil war brewing in the Democratic party. In the 1960s, it was the war between the Northern Democrats and the segregationist Southern Democrats. Today it seems between those old school Democrats and the new Islamist-loving Left wing

She sounds like she has a much better command of the issue than President Biden, who seems to somewhat ambiguously vacillate between different positions to thread a political needle.

Hillary spoke simply and clearly here and for that I give her credit. Further, she didn’t exactly take the Obama line which is “we’re all guilty,” a line Alan Dershowitz found so reprehensible he called Obama a villain and said he regretted ever voting for him. She acknowledged history is messy and we all need to know it but she said “But we have to look at where we are today.”

So I grudgingly give her credit. The good news is, I think the Obama as God era officially ended with his vile moral equivalence tweet. And for that I am thankful.

Sebastian said...

Much better than most Dems (plus she seems healthier).

But the distinction she draws between Arafat/PLO and Hamas is no longer operative, if it ever was. Which Palestinian groups and leaders want to live in peace with Israel? Which supporters of "Justice for Palestine" object to the "river to the sea" decolonization principle?

There is no "other leadership." Therefore Israel is stuck, and the Palestinians are stuck. One side likes it that way.

Aggie said...

As a former Secretary of State, she was a pretty good failed Presidential Candidate.

Oh geez, let it be so at last! Except for his much-lauded DNC speech as freshman senator, when I thought he sounded (!) both Republican and like a normal person, he has struck me as a man in love with his own voice.

(And I ought to know, given the length of most of my comments...)

And for that I am thankful.

I will join in that sentiment!

Now I have to go listen to this video of someone I like even less... Oh well, due diligence.

Well for me, Hillary on her best day, is hard to take And Im not likely to ever forgive her for the Russian collusion hoax, nor for her persistent insistence after 2016 that the election was "stolen". If you are a D you can say that. If you are an R well ever Soros backed prosecutor in the country will come after you.

File this moment of Hillary clarity under the heading "Even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while".

What is the difference between a ceasefire and a humanitarian pause? It's lovely she wants the aid to go to the people who need it instead of to Hamas, how does she propose to make that happen? If it can be made to happen, why has the money been allowed to go to Hamas for all of these years?

I dis not expect to like anything she would say, especially on a show like the view. Bari Weiss is what got me to click the play button. I bet the hosts and much of the audience was not expecting what she said given the tepid responses to very down to earth analysis. Was she being practical or playing politician? I don't know, but she was spot on about the realities of the situation, and I would back her if she said that as Secretary of State. Better than Blinken (Sp?) is a low bar, but she easily cleared it.

"At her best"? Wow. I was just learning to stomach her comments about Trump being like Hitler (when she - a former Sec. of State - twice said Hitler was "elected" though he very much was not) and now this. Gag. Here are my notes for this atrocity:

1. The people confined to a concentration camp, or "an open air prison," broke the cease-fire first. Yes, let's blame them for not maintaining a status quo that's been called "unbearable."

2. She's deploying more dehumanizing language.

3. Hillary and Israel sure do seem to know a hell of a lot about people who just took them all by total surprise.

4. The longer she talks, the more I'm reminded she brought slavery back to Libya.

5. Her explanation for how "history holds all of us accountable" doesn't explain how any of us are accountable.

6. Lies of omission are everywhere.

It is encouraging to me that someone high up among the Democratic Party leadership cadres recognizes what a catastrophe the anti-Israel antisemitic left of the party is creating for them. Hillary sounds so out of character here because for once she is saying what she in fact knows to be so. (I do agree that her line between the P.A. and Hamas is too sharply drawn, but otherwise it's all so.) Such clarity is rare for her. But whatever ulterior motives she has, at least it had the effect of putting on notice the idiots on the View and the even worse idiots who watch the show and take it seriously. For once, her schoolmarm "let me be very clear and make this simple" style was absolutely necessary. A lot going on here, only some of which I can guess at. As the saying goes,

And don't speak too soon, for the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who that it's namin'
For the loser now will be later to win
For the times, they are a-changin'

Not a fan--Russiagate &c--but credit where it's due.

It may be heresy to say so here, but I think if she had been elected president in 2008, we might be living in a better world. The Obama era (2009-2016, 2021- ) was and continues to be immeasurably destructive to our country and the entire world.

Question for Hill and other traditional Dems, if any are left: how do you think your coddling of Iran contributed to Israel's predicament? Do you now think that coddling was a mistake?

takirks said...

Her hard work enabling Iran did so much to create the current shambles that it's not even funny. Her proteges in State "negotiated" all that money into the hands of the Iranians, over the course of the Obama administration and this one...

So, what's her excuse for that? Her rationale, for strengthening the sponsors of terrorism, that killed so many American soldiers in Iraq with EFP warheads and training?

This (rude word for female) is a hypocrite and entirely incompetent. She made millions with her deals through the Clinton Foundation, and gave little back to the people she was supposed to help with it. See "Haiti" for examples...

The only thing she's good at is grift and dishonesty. This is a woman who was fired by the Watergate prosecutors for ethics violations, which had to have been a very hard thing to achieve...

Narr said...

The Wellsley Witch resonates so well because millions of American no-talent social-climbing hags who married big see themselves in her, and twice as much when they've had too much chardonnay.

Richard Dolan said...

Most interesting part to me was HRC's spin on Obama's claim that there is blame aplenty and all are guilty. Blame? Guilty? The issue is the Oct 7 atrocities and the Israeli response. Not seeing a lot of blame on anyone but Hamas for the atrocities and nothing guilty about the Israel response. HRC knows (and said) that a cease-fire serves only to preserve Hamas as a terrorist organization committed to endless war until Israel is destroyed, but didn't want to say that Obama was just indulging in his habitual Israel-bashing. So she tried to spin his comments by saying that Obama was referring to the entire history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from '48 to date. And while she was clear that a cease-fire was a no-go, she added that a 'humanitarian pause' should be 'on the table'. 'On the table' is just diplo-speak for discussion -- so discuss as long as you want knowing that it isn't going to happen in any way that interrupts the Israeli effort to destroy Hamas, a goal she clearly endorsed as legitimate (indeed, necessary 'to give peace a chance').

Her spin was not what Obama was saying, but it was a clever (and in the moment, successful) way to defuse the pointed questions from her interlocutor (supported by much of the audience) suggesting that all decent people here and abroad support an immediate cease-fire. Not a fan of HRC but like Bill, she's a clever spin-meister. And on the impossibility of accepting a cease-fire so long as Hamas retains any power in Gaza, she is clearly right.

The first question repeated a number of civilian deaths in Gaza of 10,000 ("half of whom are children") that I read a couple of days ago. That statement was attributed to "health authorities" in Gaza. Is anyone aware of corroboration of that number by an independent organization?
Ever since the report of 500 dead by an Israeli missile strike, I'm unconvinced.

From Hillary's mouth to Crack's ears, not that she said anything that everyone but Crack didn't already know.

He knows; he just draws the beginning of the conflict at a different point, believes that there are extenuating or at least explanatory circumstances, and for some reason, doesn't expect the same restraint from the Palestinians that he expects from the Israelis. That went all the way back to the first days after the attacks, IIRC - before the body count differential existed. (And he doesn't seem to have an explanation for how Hamas isn't responsible for that body count. No matter how those Palestinians end up dead - that is, whether they're the targets of Israeli bombs or guns, which everyone knows they are not, versus the human shields that their own leaders deploy in order to give a bump to their ratings, as witness the cheers on The View - their deaths are now reduced to a number, to be compared to the number of Israeli dead who were targeted, tortured, and killed in grotesque ways with cameras rolling..)

Did anyone here actually learn anything they didn't already know from Hillary's explainer?

I didn't see this as the point. I thought the point was that the audience of The View, if they were listening, might have learned something. Not holding my breath, but hope springs eternal.

(I dislike Clinton so intensely because she was a willing accomplice in her horndog husband's abuses, which I do tend to believe included at least one rape. I would like to dislike her for her naked, grasping ambition, but dudes are allowed to have that, so even though I hate it, I'll allow it.)

Clinton has a lot of folks who voted for her in 2008 and/or 2016. Let her be someone who tries to talk sense to those people. But his comment probably resonated with many not politically conscious in 2016 whom both Clintons have a hard time getting through to.

THis is so hilarious. Usually these loud-mouth morons are talking over the guest, talking over each other, cutting in with dumb (prepared on little cards they read from) questions, and if the guest is slightly right of center, hurling insults.

But now Queen Hillary has shown up, and is talking about Israel-Gaza. And because its Israel, they all sit there and listen like quiet little Church mice, as the Hillary lectures them on how complicated it all is.

Hello? this is the same woman who supported the Iraq war, and laughed at GHaddaffi death, and suppport billion$ to Zelensky to carry on a useless war that has killed over 100,000 and has nothing to do with the USA.

She's no foriegn policy genius, and she's just giving the standard "Blob" line about the conflict. She doesn't want Israel to go crazy or commit genocide. She wants a "Pause". But she doesn't want the USA to tell Israel what to do, or cut off our military aid if they don't obey us.

And its this "blob" thinking that means USA can't broker a peace, because it "stands by Israel" no matter what. Reagan once said: "There are simple answers. There just aren't any easy ones". Until someone stands up the Israeli lobby, there will be no peace.

I want so hard not to believe Crack is totally impervious to the obvious, but this vacuous and idiotic statement, which is in the air everywhere, leaves me shaking my head:

"The people confined to a concentration camp, or "an open air prison,"

Please, Crack, at least come up with your own wording instead of this boilerplate. Gaza was turned over to the Gazans in 2005, every Jew was dragged out of there by the Israelis themselves, and Gaza was left with an intact economic infrastructure, which Hamas proceeded to trash. Gazans, abandoned by their "jailers," then had an ELECTION and chose their leaders. In what prison, open-air or closed-air, do such things happen? In what prison do prisoners get to build hundreds of miles of tunnels in which to hide billions in weapons and supplies and launch thousands of rockets at their departed prison guards?

Seriously, does being an underdog always mean the underdog is right and is exempt from all responsibility? The Gazans built their own damn prison out of the golden opportunity Israel handed to them.

There goes Minister Farrah Crack again, sounding like a combination of Professor Griff and Mel Gibson. I was going to ask him if Hamas is responsible for anything, but it’s a fool’s errand. Let’s just instead placate him and predict all the things he’d like to believe the JOOOS are responsible for - from Hamas’ throwing PLO ministers off of rooftops to… Hamas throwing gay Palestinians off of rooftops. The Jews made Hamas do it! Just like Hitler said, they must be Germany’s misfortune. And as Professor Gibson said, they’re responsible for starting all the wars - from the Bosnian genocide to the Rwandan genocide to the Armenian genocide. (And the Palestinian population boom genocide. First genocide to result in population growth but hey, the Jews are sneaky).

Listening to Farrah Crack talk about Jews is really indistinguishable from listening to Borat talk about them - especially when he commented on Gibson and said that Kazakhstan agrees that not only are Jews responsible for all the world’s wars, but possibly also the extinction of the dinosaurs.

If he weren’t conservative he’d say everything bad in life is the white man’s fault. So maybe that’s why you guys tolerate him. I predict that once this war is over he’ll go help OJ Simpson find the real killers of Nicole and Ron Goldman… probably by staking out a synagogue somewhere.

You go, Crack! (Head).

"He knows; he just draws the beginning of the conflict at a different point, believes that there are extenuating or at least explanatory circumstances, and for some reason, doesn't expect the same restraint from the Palestinians that he expects from the Israelis."

No, I start at the beginning - who started it? - and find the Zionist project guilty. I expect both to be brutal in war, but I don't have a "side". I don't condemn one and not the other. I got turned off the moment people started calling the Hamas and Palestinians "savages" and "animals." I know that talk. There's dehumanizing talk that allows people to commit genocide. That's what the Jews dealt with in World War II and that's what people are doing now - for the Jews.

"He doesn't seem to have an explanation for how Hamas isn't responsible for that body count."

Hamas and the Palestinians are fighting a battle of liberation against Zionist forces. That's the difference. If the Zionists hadn't done what they did, none of this would be happening to anyone.

It's not in this clip, but she started her talk with The View by saying Adolf Hitler was "elected." That's how accurate this talk is. It's got most things in the right places, but - like that well-known election of Adolf Hitler - there's so much missing there's no way the truth is anywhere nearby. But you don't see that. She sounds "rational" to you. Hillary Clinton. Who called three psychics to the White House when she found out Bill was cheating on her. Who developed and promoted both RussiaGate and the "vast right wing conspiracy" of the 90s, poisoning the body politic both times. Who lives with a rapist and knows it. Who threatened Bill's rape victims. Who laughed when Muammar Qaddafi literally got a butcher knife up his ass for cooperating with her. She sounds rational. From Publishers Weekly review of "Idiot Proof: A Short History Of Modern Delusions" AKA "How Mumbo-Jumbo Conquered the World":

"British columnist and satirist [Francis] Wheen presents an exhaustive but ultimately exhausting full-frontal assault on the past 25 years of "Counter-Enlightenment idiocy." His fencing dummies include Margaret Thatcher, Reaganomics, the Iranian Revolution, the Christian Coalition, Deepak Chopra, post-modernism, Francis Fukuyama, creationism, conspiracy theorists, people who believe in UFOs, astrology, the military-industrial complex, Cherie Blair and Hillary Clinton's fondness for New Age philosophy, Noam Chomsky, Enron, suicide bombers and much, much more."

How everyone keeps missing, that this is pure insanity, is the biggest mystery of my life - but you keep applauding how "rational" she sounds. And she will.

As long as you never look up the date Hitler got elected.
