On her pre-school dawn run yesterday she ran past the broken glass of a kosher café’s windows and a fresh anti-Israel slogan painted on a bridge. All my grandparents were Holocaust survivors who found safe haven, and built new lives, in the UK, so of course I am twitching with latent anxiety and the creeping dangers of the masses not speaking out against terrorism. I sincerely hope Rishi Sunak honours his pledge to stand with Israel and protect British Jews.

As one commenter suggested above, there's a really simple - albeit brutal - way to address this.
People with evil intent need to feel fear. People who are inclined to attack people walking down the street need to fear immediate overwhelming retaliation.
Neighborhood protection is a common concept worldwide of communities who feel at risk, exposed, and unprotected by society.
Even without guns and knives, you can easily create some basic blunt weaponry and have roving groups of strong young men whose mission is to deter opportunistic attacks.
When government fails to provide for safety, the answer isn't to petition government: The answer is to protect yourselves and your communities immediately.

I don’t call “Progressives” by this “preferred pronoun”. Instead, I call them “Regressives”. Why? Because their politics/policies want to regress us to the past, whether it’s failed economic policies and political philosophies (i.e. Marxism / Communism) or Anti-Semitism. The Regressive teachers in high schools and colleges / universities are indoctrinating our country’s youth in these philosophies. Jews today have had to hide their identities in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, and even been asked to do so in Brooklyn and Los Angeles at times. The young have to hide their identities on virtually every US college campus. I've read the comments coming from all sides on this blog over the past few days. There are a lot of ignorant comments going on here, spoken by people who don't know what they are talking about. Not just on this post, but on many of the posts since this began. But I have to say that there are also some that I may not agree with, but have strong points.
That said, I'll simply say this. When I was young, I told my dad I was an atheist (I have since changed). But at that time, this man, who had already lived through the years of the Holocaust, had literally fought Nazis with the US Army, dealt with antisemitism in his life and work back in Detroit, told me very bluntly that it didn't matter what I thought. The world at some point would come at me because I am a Jew.
He was, of course, right. I dealt with the antisemites in my neighborhood as a kid, got into fights- but back then, many of us did that. All the ethnic groups got called names back then. We'd have our scuffles but eventually many became friends. But...this is different today. This is back to reality in Europe, in the US, and certainly now, in Israel. And once again, we find ourselves fighting for our lives while the world holds opinion-fests.
Me, personally, after having visited Israel and experienced the people and the land, their love of life and the land so rich with history it draws millions from all over the world every year just to experience it, I understand both the need for a land for the Jews, and the need to defend it at all costs. In the end, we're the only ones we can count on. And while we love our friends and accept help, we know what we have to do this time around. We didn't start it. But now we have to end it.
By the way, the suggestion that Jews should just buy up land in South Carolina is so ridiculous I don't even know where to begin. I'd suggest to that person to visit Israel in a time of peace. Then get back to me.

Her larger train of thought can be paraphrased thus (and if you don't like my transliteration just read her words for yourself, that quote gets in right away on google): At first we were ecstatic about our freedom fighters doing what they did and showing the world on social media how strong Hamas is. It was a victory for Palestine. Then we found out they were bringing hostages back here and we all went "oh shit!"
She is not an outlier. She is not a radical. She is the typical Palestinian. They vote for Hamas because this is what Hamas promised to do. They teach their children to hate because this what Palestinians do. Mothers pray their sons will be martyrs. There is no comparison to civilized countries, like Israel.
