"People moved by donkey carts, auto rickshaws, and cars, loaded with bags of clothing, mattresses, even a pair of cows."

"'A tuk-tuk would be carrying 15 people,' she said. “People are running red lights, no one is stopping.' Eventually, they reached Khan Yunis, taking refuge in a two-story house with more than 30 other people.... The cars that were on the road were completely full, some packed so tight that thin mattresses hung out of windows and blankets were wedged up against back windows. Some families were leaving on foot, calling out for cars to give them a ride.... 'There are no cars to take us anywhere,' [one woman] said. 'There is no gas in cars. Cab companies don’t have cars anymore. The streets are so, so, so, so crowded, it’s like it’s the Day of Judgement.'"

Hearts all a-bleeding for the poor Palestinian Arabs, given 24 hours to get their sorry behinds out of the way of Israeli tanks, howitzers and foot soldiers. Unlike those dastardly Jews who were slaughtered in their sleep by the thousands of Hamas terrorists and the numerous Palestinian "civilians" who jumped at the chance to cross the unguarded border and take a few whacks at guest workers with their trusty garden hoes until their heads were separated from their torsos. So tell me again, who's the barbarian?

Day of Judgment indeed. Gazans chose wrong; now they will be judged.

Solution: evacuate the strip. I'm told it's an "open-air prison." Wouldn't want to live there, would you? Get out. I'm sure Syria and Qatar and Iraq and Iran will welcome you.

Professor Emeritus of Western History at UCLA, Eugene Weber, said long ago "that warfare is a great mix-master. The great symptom of war is the refugee, far more so than the casualties. 80 million died in WWII, but 250 million were put on the move, and those that move affect the future course of the world far more than those who die."

If gazans were smart, they'd go to Egypt or Jordan or Syria and actually make an attempt to integrate this time instead of causing unholy hell and coups in their Arab host countries. But we all know this won't happen. They'll somehow end up in the United States killing Americans at home instead of Israel before you know it, and they'll do it to the thunderous applause of progressives who will call it white supremacy or something. Depend upon it.

it’s like it’s the Day of Judgement.

Wouldn't it have been nice if Hamas gave the Israeli's an evacuation warning? Then, maybe, Gaza wouldn't be facing this horrible suffering and fear, caused by Hamas, Iran...and Joe Biden's evil stupidity.

In all of this, the saddest part is the fear, suffering, and death that ALL the Palestinian and Israeli children have to face. War sucks. It CAN be prevented. Unless, of course, you have no interest in doing so. Like all the shithead college campus protestors throughout America...that don't have to shed and ounce of blood to signal their bullshit virtue for Ukraine or Hamas.

Hey, liberals, has Egypt opened its border yet?

We need Trump back in the White House.

Once again the NYT's is minimizing the suffering and the evil, almost genocidal retaliation for the Hamas terrorist attacks.

We've seen this play before. The 911 attack which killed thousands of Americans, lead to hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis. Who had nothing to do with 911. And a 19 year war in Afghanistan.

Now thousands, hundreds of thousands of innocent Arabs in the Gaza will have their lives destroyed and genocided because 1000 israelis were killed.

People just love this crap. Lets kill em all, they screech. Its completely un-Christian and UnAmerican. Why not just go after Hamas and leave the innocents alone? But whatever.

It’s unfortunate for them, but they can take the lesson to heart. Better, more honest leadership would be a great help and the mothers could take advice offered many decades ago:

If peace is desired, Palestinian mothers should love their sons more than they hate Israelis.

Is that right?

When you have seen enough of this you have to accept three points: first, States have to exist in a memoryless condition. The past can’t be a factor in judging a State. It has to be judged by how it serves the welfare of residents at this moment, not how it did that in the past. This can be an aware pardon, amnesty.

Second, conquest by non residents in order to loot wealth must be universally condemned. Any reshuffling of borders needs to be done for the benefit of current residents by a mutual non military process. You intervene to stop conquest when it is beneficial, the problems of humanity never yield to glib solutions.

Third, hard work and success is the savior of mankind, there is no Eden, if your neighbor has something you want, ask them to help you build it up for yourself, no begging or stealing. Otherwise you can’t respect yourself, you just remain a child.

Vietnam, Russia, China, Europe, US, Israel, Iran, everyone, exists today regardless of history and what they have done. Judge them only by how they are serving the welfare of their own people today. You can’t go back to antediluvian time and right every wrong ever done, and guilt is not assigned by heredity. We know that States can go crazy and start hurting people in their own and other States, so war is going to be needed, but start a war only if it provides safety for your own residents by addressing a current danger.

Field Marshal rcocean writes, Why not just go after Hamas and leave the innocents alone?

You've just described your Great Mission. Obviously, you've worked out the tactical particulars to the nth detail or you wouldn't spout off like a hopeless moron. Go to Israel. Buy a ticket tonight. Present yourself to the IDF's general staff with your plan. They'll probably reject your military genius, their minds being blood-dimmed with memories of every attempt to exterminate the Jews since Flavius Silva. But even in that likely case, your Great Mission is not doomed. Try your plan on Hamas. Tell them to come out from behind the shadors of their women and fight like men toe-to-toe with the Jews. I think you'll be surprised by the result.

We have seen this before, when German refugees took to the roads to get out of the bombed or about-to-be bombed cities, or to get away from the Russians. I would like to see the IDF make some 'Tall Boy' or 'Grand Slam' bombs like the British used in WW2. Capable of making earthquakes and thus collapsing Hamas tunnels.

Yes 12,000 to 22,000 lb bombs. See Hamas will no doubt have tunnels all over the GAZA.. so collapse them with earthquakes.

And if their 'citizens' don't flee, tough luck. For unlike the Israeli men, women, children, and babies that had no warning and were murdered, warning was given first.

We have NOT seen this before. The Palestinians were chased off their land. They hadn't attacked anybody. The world just decided they weren't worth anything. And now, every time they fight back, the claim is that it's "unprovoked," because everyone else has their mind made up about what should happen there and who should rule that area. I repeat: we have not seen this before.

We are literally watching the world strip a people of everything, because the world feels guilty it didn't do anything while the Nazis ground up the Jews - but it's happening in slow motion - because the Jew's victims have fought back. I'm not a fan of Islam, but I'm also no fan of unethical bullshit, and that's exactly what this is. The Israelis have nothing to be proud of, and no one else has a reason to be smug or to celebrate. This is just a disaster: a horrible event that shit befall no one.

The Crack Emcee said...

Oh, and anybody who thinks this is about hating the Jews, and not about Palestinians loving their home (as all people do) is lying to themselves for moral convenience and absolution. What's happening over there is wrong. The Israelis started the wrong in 1948, with machine guns, and now we're up to baby killing and assaulting old women. There is nothing Carraige us or heroic about any of it. The Israelis now are just acting out of revenge, which is understandable but nothing anyone should applaud, because it's even more ugly and heinous than the celebrations we've seen over Hamas' attack. They are killing innocent people, because specific people killed their people. That's barbarity, too, however they rationalize it. The bottom line is they're not supposed to be there, and they're gonna kill innocent people, in order to to change that.

The fact we're helping them do that - after we turned away almost every Jew during World War II except Einstein - illuminates our betrayal, and our own capacity for evil, in neon.

Why is it that people are insisting that Israel not attack Gaza (despite that being where the killers are and where they are holding hostages), but not a single voice is calling upon Hamas to release all hostages, unconditionally surrender, and hand over the killers to Israel?

To ask the question is to answer it.

So I'm not holding my breath waiting for the fiercely self-righteous AOC and her ilk to tweet something like:

"In order to prevent the massive loss of innocent life that would come from a war in Gaza, I call upon Hamas to unconditionally surrender. Release all hostages and hand over the killers to face justice. Do it for the children!"

And see the second battle of Fallujah.

Like the animals who attack innocent people on sidewalks and subways, then broadcast their gleeful rampage on their phones, this is a reckoning.

War is more orderly. Hamas can surrender, be actually occupied and demilitarized, admit defeat, surrender their leaders, and denounce their death-loving cult, Islam.

De-Nazification cannot be applied worldwide. But the Palestinians are being given a choice.

They won't take it this time. Maybe there won't be a next time.

Crack: you're wrong. The U.S. took in more Nazi victims, overwhelmingly Jewish, leading up to and during the war than any other nation, though we should have done more. We liberated Europe and Jews at the cost of our young men and money. We rebuilt Europe and helped establish the homeland of Israel as a nation and have supported and defended it ever since.

Those are just facts, easily accessed.
