It's a heavy fog the density of a light fog.

A beautiful fog.

A few months ago we heard scrabbling in the attic so my brother came over and we put two animal traps up there--and forgot about them. Then, a few days ago, we started noticing a bad smell, but it was faint and not constant.

This morning my wife smelled it, and I got a whiff, but only when she came back from her walk and entered the house was she was certain that it was the smell of something dead.
Like a wall of stink.

We pulled the stairs down and I went up and in the big cage was a very large and quite dead opossum. We--and more pertinently the dog--had heard nothing of the critter's struggles, and the poor thing must have died of thirst.

We got it out of the house and the cage, and I thought to bury it in a little possum grave, but the soil is hard and rooty and that's too much work. It's out in the gutter now, starting to rot.

We put off dealing with some gapping in spots under the deep overhanging eaves, but can't ignore it any longer.

Money pit, sweet money pit.

Yes, The Biden Impeachment Hearing Presented Evidence Of Corruption — Lots Of It

It's smog every morning here now, it gets foggy in the fall here, and the smoke is as thick as ever. It looks a lot like those old '60s science fiction novel covers a lot of the time.

They both get out there in their arguments, but this is great to see how far in Trump Derangement Syndrome Steve Schmidt is. Jan 6 was worse than 9/11?

When they show pastoral scenes to us, that means that want us to calm down.

I refuse to calm down.

You people need to listen to Matt Taibbi and Walter Kirn’s This Week podcast. It’s possibly their best so far.

If you don’t listen, Trump is going to lose and Kamala Harris is going to become president after Biden unexpectedly passes away of Covid.

Narr: thanks for sharing that. “A wall of stink” is vivid. Every time I start to think my house and garden are mine, Nature sends me a reminder that they’re just borrowed.

In a continuing effort to destroy America, the Brain Dead Administration is now going after natural gas furnaces. When are "normal" dems, if there are any left, going to wake up?

What does it mean to remove the scales from your eyes? It means that someone suddenly realizes the truth about something after a long period of not understanding it or of being deceived about it. Key word being deceived. By who you ask? The Evil One. The battle is a spiritual one.

Evidence abounds that our friends on the left ignore logic and reality. The most illuminating example of late is a Supreme Court justice that can't tell the difference between a man and a woman. There are numerous other examples. Late term abortion and post birth abortion to name two. Or how about "the border is secure"?

"(If) my people, who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

This country needs to repent or it's toast. On the bright side, prayer warriors are engaged.

U.S. quietly acknowledges Iran satellite reached orbit as tensions remain high

"DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The United States has quietly acknowledged that Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard successfully put an imaging satellite into orbit this week in a launch that resembled others previously criticized by Washington as helping Tehran’s ballistic missile program.

The U.S. military has not responded to repeated requests for comment from The Associated Press since Iran announced the launch of the Noor-3 satellite on Wednesday, the latest successful launch by the Revolutionary Guard after Iran’s civilian space program faced a series of failed launches in recent years.

Early Friday, however, data published by the website space-track.org listed a launch Wednesday by Iran that put the Noor-3 satellite into orbit. Information for the website is supplied by the 18th Space Defense Squadron of the U.S. Space Force, the newest arm of the American military.

It put the satellite at over 450 kilometers (280 miles) above the Earth’s surface, which corresponds to Iranian state media reports regarding the launch. It also identified the rocket carrying the satellite as a Qased, a three-stage rocket fueled by both liquid and solid fuels first launched by the Guard in 2020 when it unveiled its up-to-then-secret space program.

(snip)

Speaking Thursday night to Iranian state television, Guard space commander Gen. Ali Jafarabadi described the Noor-3 satellite as having “image accuracy that is two and a half times that of the Noor-2 satellite.” Noor-2, launched in March 2022, remains in orbit. Noor-1, launched in 2020, fell back to Earth last year.

Jafarabadi said Noor-3 has thrusters for the first time that allow it to maneuver in orbit. He also offered a wider description of Iran’s hopes for its satellite program, including potentially controlling drones. That could raise further concerns for the West and Ukraine, which Russia has bombarded with Iranian-made bomb-carrying drones for over a year.

“If you look at the recent wars in the world, you will see that success on the battlefield is very dependent on the use of satellite technologies,” Jafarabadi said. “Now the armed forces in all the progressive countries are trying to make all their equipment remote control, it means that to make it steerable, when a vessel or any other equipment takes a long distance from us, it is no longer possible to see and guide it, except through satellite.

Fall is here! We went to last night's trouncing of the Texas Rangers by the Seattle Mariners, 8-0. Two weeks ago, the temperatures were warm enough for summer clothes, with only a sweatshirt. Last night, it was cold weather clothing. Vest, sweatshirt, winter jacket and scarf. No blanket.

For some reason, the roof was closed on a clear night.

The Rangers must be extremely frustrated. They've yet to clinch the division title. They thought they had Thursday's game in the bag, when they led 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth, with two-outs. Julio Rodriguez hit a two-run double to win the game for the Mariners. The Rangers had their club house decked out in plastic to protect it from champagne geysers. Poor babies. They must win one of the remaining two games to clinch.

There would be a three-way tie for first place if the Mariners sweep and the Houston Astros and Arizona Diamondbacks split the two remaining games. In that case, the tie-breaking rules would have the Mariners taking the division title. The Mariners would be out of the playoffs with any other result, with Houston and Texas taking the division and final wild card spot, not necessarily in that order.

RFK Jr is throwing his tinfoil hat into the ring.

That's not really a criticism of him--the more the merrier, I say, and at least he'll get some things out that many others would rather not talk about.

Yes, step by step, inch by inch. Inserting a satellite into orbit is exactly the same problem as placing an ICBM from Iran to the US.
