After a few days absence, the hummingbirds are back. We put fresh sugarwater out yesterday and I was beginning to think they were gone, but they've discovered it again. Good to see.

Summer heat and humidity are back also. Not so good, but they are softer than they were a few weeks ago.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/385-missing-maui-fires-dem-governor-indicated-100
Hawaii officials said there are still 385 people missing after the Maui wildfire in an update Friday, nearly unchanged from the week prior.

The Maui Police Department said 245 people on the missing persons list validated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation had been found and located. However, a nearly equal number of new names were added, bringing the total down from 388 to 385 missing, a net change of just three.

The updated total was a startling departure from what had been expected — a day earlier Gov. Josh Green said he believed the number would fall below 100.

is it safe to (sadly) say, that If you're Still Missing.. You'll STAY Missing?

We had half a dozen hummingbirds today- they were hitting the feeders and the salvia hard. Packing on the grams
to head south I suspect. I was almost impaled by one flying by when I went out to adjust one of the game cameras…

Summer is definitely over. Saturday's temperatures were in the mid-80s. Today, the clouds have come in and rain is falling. Temperatures in the mid-60s. Tomorrow, cloudy and mid-60s.

I'll be cooking spare ribs tomorrow on the barbie (Traegor wood pellets). It'll take all afternoon to cook them. Salad and steak fries.

Headin' out to San Fransisco
For the Labor Day, weekend show
I got my Hushpuppies on
I guess I never was meant for glitter rock & roll
And honey I didn't know
That I'd be missing you so

Come Monday, it'll be all right
Come Monday, I'll be holding you tight
I spent 4 lonely days, in a brown L.A. haze
And I just want you back by my side

I have to say that listening to Jimmy Buffett out on the boat on an almost perfect Labor Day weekend has notched up my appreciation for him.

Just a small contribution to the Burning Man story. I have read that the catastrophe began with a torrential downpour of 1/2 inch and was cemented into hopelessness when, a day later, a further 1/4 inch fell.

Another fun fact, and I mean this, is that Seinfeld is now on Amazon Prime.

If Moscow was behind a coup in Quebec, put in an anti-American government and started arming them with heavy weapons, we would be on them like white on rice, and rightfully so, because the logical assumption would be that they were planning a war. But somehow Glenn Reynolds thinks that the US can change the regime on Russia's border, by having our proxies massacre a large number of protesters, then blaming it on the then current government in Kiev, kicking off a civil war, where we claimed that the other side was illegitimate because we had "recognized" the coup leaders, therefore those people in Donbas had no right to resist, equals an unprovoked "bloody Russian invasion" of Donbas in 2014. Kiev has been spilling the blood in Donbas.

Glenn should watch Ukraine On Fire.

In an interview, Jimmy Buffett said “I’m not a very good singer, and I can barely play the guitar. But, I’m good at business and know how to do it.”
He created a lifestyle about being a laid back beach bum that didn’t care what The Man said. In fact. He WAS the Man! He was a billionaire!

My hummingbirds are year around but Mexican long nose bats arrive about now and drain the feeder for a couple of weeks, then move on south. I just filled it and, if it is empty in the morning, they are here. They arrive about 3 AM and have a wingspread of about 18 inches.

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos [aka George Snuffleupagus but you can call me Snuffy] asked Ramaswamy on “This Week” why he believed it was “OK for a convicted felon to be president,” if Trump ended up being convicted. Ramaswamy responded by reiterating that the prosecutions against Trump are “downright politicized persecutions.”

“I do not want to see us become a banana republic where the administrative police state uses police force to eliminate opponents from competition,” he said. “That’s not the way it works.”

"Not the way it works" for sure. "Da Vek" was born and reared in Ohio and he graduated as valedictorian from Cincinnati's St. Xavier Catholic High School in 2003, followed by a BA degree from Harvard and a Juris Doctor degree from Yale. So he knows well that we don't support a police state here and all current charges and arrests made against the former president were made by his Grand Jury peers. So this brand new politician just cannot tell the truth even when he knows better.

Strangely, Ramaswamy was into making money for himself until he lost 75% of his Roivant business when a drug being developed failed and he decided to "run" for president - obviously intent on not winning.

"What we are witnessing seems to be utter nihilism. The border is not porous but nonexistent. Mass looting and carjackings are not poorly punished, but simply exempt from all and any consequences. Our downtowns are reduced to a Hobbesian “war of all against all,” where the strong dictate to the weak and the latter adjust as they must. The streets of our major cities in just a few years have become precivilizational—there are more human feces on the sidewalks of San Francisco than were in the gutters of Medieval London."

I have never watched even 1 minute of Seinfeld. Same with the OJ trial.

How could masks work for individuals but not for the general population?

A grand jury can be led to indict a ham sandwich. That's an old saying about how much power prosecutors have. The charges against Trump are stretching the law beyond all belief.

Alvin Bragg's charges are about business records. Something that's usually handled with a fine.

Fatti Willis charges are about the 1st Amendment and the 14th. She herself has done the same thing in disputing an election. Not to mention the shadow governor of Georgia, Stacy Abrams and the 45th shadow president, Hillary Clinton and the 43rd shadow president, Al Gore.

The Democrats have been fighting Donald Trump by any means necessary (BAMN) since he announced. The FBI spied on him for political purposes, used HRC's discredited Steele Dossier as predicate for a FISA warrant. The Dems campaigned to get the EC electors to vote for someone else. The FBI lied about the bogus Mike Flynn interrogation. They impeached Trump to protect their Ukrainian graft machine and Joe Biden. Antifa rioted after 2016 election in Portland and during the Trump inauguration. Antifa and BLM rioted again during the Summer of Love (tm) in 2020. Kamala Harris said the rioting would continue if the election had the wrong result. Nancy Pelosi failed to protect the Capital on J6, Ray Epps and others forced down the barriers and the Capital Police welcomed the crowd into the Capital grounds and into the building.

So, gadnat, tell me how horrible Donald Trump is compared to the Democrat Part, party of neobarbarism and lawlessness.

‘fly is extremely concerned and frightened by Ramaswamy.

Is it the brown skin or the fresh approach that troubles this follower of a failed ideology?

No. Some of them might still show up. Just not under their own power.
I onced joked to my wife that in the next tornado she should stand in the yard with a broom between her legs. She didn't think it was very funny.
Gadfly.
No laws were broken by Trump. How can he become a felon?

A lot of people have no sense of humor. Most of them don't brag about it on blogs, though.

@ Creola Soul: It’ll always be 5 o’clock somewhere.

@ gadfly: Ramaswamy Is just the latest Republican charlatan flavor of the month. Just another fool parroting the word “woke” like it’s a password to get into the world’s dumbest club.

Burning Man has known since before the first day it was gonna rain like this. The weather was forecasted well over a week ago.
