What annoys me about this report is that nobody links to the actual petition itself. Shouldn't it be a public record? Ajit Pai has a picture of the beginning of the doc, but not even Reuters seems to have a link to the full petition.

Forty-five years ago when I worked in one of the first Mexican restaurants in my city, we had Taco Mondays. For simple business reasons in that Monday was slow and all you can eat tacos brought in customers who also bought nachos, drinks, etc. I cooked thousands of taco shells.

And yes, one of the first, it was big deal when Taco Bell opened up near the other end of the weekend cruising route a couple years later.

"Not cool." Taco John's lawyers (millennials all, no doubt) surrendered to the overwhelming weight of that judgement.

This has been a weird life/news story cycle for me.

Two weeks ago, we drove across the country and I saw signs for Taco Johns perhaps starting in Nebraska. I thought it was local, then saw signs in Iowa. My husband told me he had just been reading about their Taco Tuesday copyright claims.
I got to Michigan, and saw a brand new about to open Taco Johns in my beloved hometown.

And now I'm reading this.

Three weeks of high-intensity Taco Johning!

From the article:

Taco Bell publicized its petitions to cancel the "Taco Tuesday" marks as part of a marketing campaign, claiming it wanted to "liberate the phrase for restaurants nationwide."

"You have something I want so I'm going to get the government to let me take it".

Sounds positively progressive.

Glad to see the Government is taking care of the important stuff!

When I was in parochial grade school, Tuesdays were Baloney Sandwich (or BBQ Sandwich) and Canned Corn Day. I loved 'em.

Don't be misled. We had a fat Italian woman who was the head cook for our grade school. She did amazing things with the limited resources given her. Great lunches.

This was Taco John’s’s decision in response to a Taco Bell filing. Not much role for the govt

On the plus side, this'll free up time for Taco Bell to deal with this issue...

This is a class action against Taco Bell for unfair and deceptive trade practices for
falsely advertising the amount of beef and/or ingredients contained in Taco Bell’s Crunchwrap
Supreme®, Grande Crunchwrap®, Vegan Crunchwrap®, Mexican Pizza, and Veggie Mexican
Pizza menu items (the “Overstated Menu Items”).

Mason G: The case will settle with everyone who opts in getting a coupon for one free crunchwrap and the lawyers getting $50 Million.

Sounds about right.

Shame on a legal system that leaves lawyers rich and clients poor. Shame Shame Shame on the Bar monopolies that slurp the clients mite. What a fucking colusion. Any JD must be damned as a robber.

I received my driver's license 49 years ago, and a weekly drive to the Taco Johns on Monona Drive became a Tuesday tradition. It was four tacos for a dollar at that time.

Taco is racist. Same as Kraut.
