Windowbox potatoes.

Talk about whatever you like in the comments.

Meade grew those potatoes — in the windowboxes (because they needed full sun).

I love potatoes. But they're now on the "only rarely" list.

Who would have guessed that Biden was the Irish word for “Bite Me”?

Put them in a steamer.

They are best with the skins on.

Oh. Those are lovely. A little butter. A little salt and pepper and you have a meal.
I have the devil of a time growing potatoes and beets. I think the trick to beets is to start them in late March and transplant them after the last frost. Next year for sure!

Excellent photo of beautiful potatoes.

Wow! Those are beautiful potatoes! Well done!

Good going, Meade! I hope they were tasty (they look like they would be).

Cook 'em in very salty, very salty water, then slather with butter. Won't need anything else.

NY salt potato style.

Questions posted at a site formerly known as Twitter about Obama's chef the untimely death:

"Who goes paddle boarding alone in the middle of a pond with no life jacket if you don’t even know how to swim? To make things even stranger… a witness describes him sinking quickly below the surface and vanishing… Why didn’t/couldn’t he grab onto his paddleboard? Why did it take them so long to find his body in only 8 feet of water when a witness supposedly saw exactly where it happened? Why would he leave his wife and kids behind to go paddle boarding? Why were many law enforcement officials so quick to write this off before an autopsy even took place?"

With Trump's poll numbers only improving, at some point it may become apparent that the Trump indictments are nothing but undeclared political contributions from The Bidens trying to secure a deal with a possible incoming Trump White House. Promise not to go after Hunter, and President Biden (should the lose again) and we'll keep indicting you (Trump) until... until the secret service finally shoots Biden's last dog. No Worries, the Secret Service wont panic shooting the dog prematurely. They haven’t after 10 bites so far. They are trained to take a bullet; a dog bite is like watching Barbie to them. Torture for sure, but definitely survivable Almost nothing.

And here is the kicker, uncovering the secret deal could also trigger another Trump indictment.

OMG. It's a win-win, no matter what happens.

How many cardiac events must a man walk down

Before you call him a vax injured man?

How many collapses must the white lab-coats see

Before they substitute with a placebo?

Yes, and how many times must the questions fly

Before they're allowed to be heard?

We grow everything that will grow in northern California for ourselves and our BnB. I've always said that the difference between homegrown potatoes is as great as the difference between homegrown tomatoes and and commercially grown. I hope you found that to be the case. Nice taters!

Remember when Blinken, Joe Biden's future Secretary of State ran the Penn-Biden center at Penn, where classified docs were kept in offices to which the Chinese funders had their own keys? Remember one Blinken paid Joe Biden a million dollars to teach a no-show class at Penn?

These are the people running our country and leading us to the brink of WW3 over a country that has paid Joe Biden's family racket millions of dollars and has interfered in US elections in attempts to put into power people who would support their cause?

Oh yeah, and BTW that country is run by people who are great admirers of, let's use the term used in The Big Lebowski so we don't trigger anybody, admirers of an "ethos" that was very popular in Germany in the 1930s and early 40s.

Maybe our only hope is when the military industrial complex realizes that this open corruption and the clown crew of partisan generals, and the demonization of the demographics who traditionally provide the soldiers, for imagined electoral benefits, is kind of gutting recruiting, and putting us at a military disadvantage.

When I was in high school I grew a few tiny potatoes as an experiment in "vegetative propagation" (=starting with the eye of a potato instead of a seed). When I ate them I felt like a cannibal.

South Korea provided Ukraine with half a million artillery shells, and now Russia, which no longer has anything to lose in terms of Western sanctions, is cozying up to North Korea. Probably in countermoves to the planned US war over Taiwan, in support of Russia's new military ally, China.

Bidin' and Blinkin' are two foreign policy geniuses!

Another sign that God loves us and wants us to be happy. No finer meal can be found than this. Meade's a man who knows when and how to not miss an opportunity.

That's a lot of taters for two. Potato salad? Family picnic? Or just a summary execution for an iPhone photo op?

Not a dime. I bought gold stocks when Obama was elected and made quite a nice bit of change. Sold em and bought back in when Biden was elected. Again a nice bit of change.
I was never dumb enough to vote for Biden, like you did.
You're going to make excuses for this administration for the rest of your life. I'm never going to let you forget the damage your votes caused.

I have to add.
Only you, Mutaman, could take an innocent post about boiled potatoes and try to make a lame political point.

The Taylor Lorenz fan club checks in!

Pretty easy to see why the Washington Post is on track to lose $100m this year after having been sold to Bezos for just $250M in 2013.

Our old house had a sunny spot for 4x8 potato and onion garden, which pair so well with a big cast iron skillet.

We loved the German Butterball variety from Seed Savers, which outproduced everything else we tried and had lovely flavor.

Don't miss when potato bugs would arrive, though.

I have a large and varied vegetable garden. A colleague who grew up in potato country told me that store bought potatoes don't even begin to approximate the ones just pulled from the garden. So I grew some. And damn if she wasn't right.

Good job there, Meade. Good job!

Wow. I just cannot grow potatoes. But my Purple Cherokees are all I really want. And okra. And garlic. And shallots (another fail). And asparagus beans -- those bastards grow like kudzu (also edible). I had one that was four feet long, still soft and tender. Not to sound pervy. But forget all other non-pod beans.

Along with Seed Savers, there is Free Heirloom Seeds organization and programs from the National Park Service that will send you (free) appropriate seeds to reconstitute native plants and improve bee populations in your area.

The local ag extension office people in your county are eagerly sitting by their phones hoping you will call them, too. They're lovely and have a wealth of resources.

We pay for them. Go visit them. Mine did a survey of my 15 acres and showed me how to pan for gold, too, because the land I bought had been deserted for decades.

They really like it when you ask for advice. It's fun.
