"[T]he school had no janitorial or medical staff and a bizarre list of rules. For example, students were served only sushi for lunch..."

"... which reportedly cost Ye $10,000 (£7,800) a week. The kids weren’t allowed to use forks and had to sit on the floor to eat because Ye 'banished chairs in place of foam floor cushions.' Another alleged no-no at Donda Academy was stairs: there weren’t any classes on the second floor, because Ye is 'afraid of stairs.' Colours were also prohibited: students had to wear all black; cups and bowls had to be grey. Windows were empty because the musician 'doesn’t like glass.' Perhaps most disturbingly, the school doors were locked from the outside during the school day...."

I'd love to watch this as a documentary, but right now, it's just 2 lawsuits.

I laughed out loud at "Windows were empty because the musician 'doesn’t like glass.'" How does that happen? Not liking glass. I could only think of Mary Sweeny, The Window Smasher.

Somebody watched Kill Bill too many times and thought implementing the Pai Mei method would be a profitable idea. Guess they were right...

Yes, glass and stairs are the tools of the evil conspiracy, headed by I, Cappy, Grand Pooh-bah Supreme, master plotter of the universe! Oh, also, we're in charge of deodorant and base 10 numeric systems, so avoid that too.

Kim shattered his fragile ego. Like every black rapper, he doesn't like being reminded that the personality he tries to project is perfectly transparent.

A mentally ill man with lots of money has bizarre rules? Stop the presses.

The rules may be bizarre, but they're also harmless (even locking the doors--if everyone's on the first floor and there's no glass in the windows). Presumably, for $15,000 a year (which isn't much for a private school, BTW) they get an education.

So then, Kanye preferred that intruders or escapees use the windows, I guess.

I can only think of one reason to send a child to a YE school.
As a pretext to file a lawsuit.

Someone outside was locking the doors of a building that has no glass in its windows. Did they then leave or climb back in through a window?

I clicked through and read both the article and the source cited in the article, and I still don't know what legitimate claims are being brought. Building wasn't nice? Is that a tort? Near as I can tell it is for wrongful termination, but people who complain about the lack of glass in the windows do not constitute a protected class, and would be employment at will situations.

Not liking glass.

who Does like glass? People that (willingly) don't Know about glass.
Glass is a liquid* it just Pretends to be a solid. Take your eyes off of it, and it will drip right away from you.
Is THAT the sort of thing YOU Want in YOUR house? What's Next? lighting your home with Plasma?
Crystals that "sort of" conduct electricity? Stove's that 'cook' things with "RADIATION"??
None for ME, thanx!

Glass is a liquid* That's RIGHT, gilbar went to the MSE dept at Iowa State at Hoover Hall.. I'm pulling up the Big Guns for this!!

ps. and YES; gilbar has lived with MSE grads.. gilbar has SLEPT with MSE grads
(not the one he lived with, that would have been weird).
HELL! if you count Engineering Science as a major in the MSE dept; (which it was)..
gilbar WAS a MSE student (until he got kicked out (again) for failing Differential Equations (again)

pps. you know how much math you need, to get a Comp Sci degree from the S&H college at ISU?
You need to be able to count to 10 (0,1,10)

$10,000 a week for sushi?

Entertainers are great at entertaining. That's it. Because they're the best of the best in an incredibly competitive field, people assume they're smart and that they have taste. They're not smart. They do not have taste. They are as susceptible to being told what to like just as much as they tell people what to like. The blind lead the blind, and they communicate with each other through Cosmo.

If only YHWH had specified that in the dietary laws... No pork for you! Only sushi.

Having been a public school student, I would have killed to have sushi 5 days a week.

West committed the greatest sin -- Thou shalt not publicly question the State. He now must pay for his sins.

"Locked from the outside"? Leaving aside the logistics of this, what about fire exits? If I were a prospective student parent there, and saw that, the Fire Marshall would be called instantly.

My thoughts, exactly. Where's the tort? The fact that they spend so much time criticizing his aesthetic tastes suggests that they can't pound the facts or the law so they are pounding the table.

Okay, Ye Class: Sushi five days a week = A dangerous level of mercury ingestion...

Ye is a certified nut case and raging anti-Semite. You would have to be seriously nuts to allow him anywhere near your kids.

My daughter would have loved sushi for lunch. Her first daycare person was a wonderful grandmotherly woman named Hiroko who was a WW2 war bride. Hiroko often served her sushi for lunch. She did have glass in her windows however.

The lunacy of Donda Academy isn't half as interesting as the lunacy of The Guardian. Kanye West has a legal name, and it isn't "Ye". (Is that pronounced like Mennonites' preferred second-person pronoun, or is it "Yay", as in the final syllable of Mr. West's pseudo-African given name?) Since the gentleman's surname is West, isn't it more respectful to address him as such and to report the accusations against him in a respectful manner?

Generally speaking, American popular entertainers, particularly singers, have become increasingly abnormal. Perhaps it started with the drug culture of the 1960s, a plausible hypothesis at least, but it has only gotten worse over time. Murder is usually taken as objectionable behavior, but the propensity of "rap artists" to be murdered or prosecuted for the crime of murder is slightly higher than other activities, golf, for instance. Wikipedia has a list of 64 murdered rappers. Wouldn't a reasonable person conclude that hip-hop is detrimental to a peaceful and fulfilling society, or is that asking too much? I mean, is this new? To be fair there were a few Icelandic skalds with nasty and dangerous tempers, Egill Skallagrimsson was one example, and Gisli Sursson was another. But those Viking rappers were doing their act for nearly 500 years and only a few of them killed another skald, whereas that Wiki list starts in 1987! Something's bad wrong with rap, but West's dislike of glass is pretty minor by comparison.

No glass windows? Neither did Plato and Socrates in the Grove of Academe. Back to basics! Missed a trick in not naming it "Ye Olde School."

alleging in a lawsuit filed Thursday that they had dismal sanitation, electrical problems and windows and a skylight that were left empty because Ye allegedly didn’t like glass.
Well, so what? Why would you sue for that? I mean, I wouldn't pay to send my kids there, but that's my choice.
I see the actual suit is for wrongful termination after a teacher complained about this. I don't see why non-windows (in LA? Big Deal. More interesting if there were no windows in a private school in Fairbanks) or the other things are noteworthy.

I could only think of Auntie Mame. She got a son when she was the only relative left after her sister, the boy's mother, died. Determined to give her a very liberal education, Mame signs Patrick up to join a school taught in the ancient Greek fashion- nude and co-ed.

That movie should be watched by every parent in the US.

Respect's got nothin' to do with it.

Ah yes. There is that LLR TDS from the Usual Suspects we have come to expect...and at the expected level of "quality".

LLR lonejustice, weren't you and LLR-democratical Chuck supposed to at least try and be subtle about what you are doing here?

Tsk tsk tsk
