"President Biden’s nearly two-year-old German shepherd Commander bit seven people in a four-month period after former first dog Major was ousted from the White House over similar aggressive behavior..."

"... according to internal Secret Service communications reviewed by The Post.... In the most serious documented incident involving Commander, the White House physician’s office on Nov. 3, 2022, referred a bitten Secret Service uniformed officer to a local hospital for treatment after the dog clamped down on their arm and thigh... Records show Commander broke the skin of a different Secret Service member’s hand and arm weeks later after the president unleashed him outside the White House following a family movie night — and the following month, Commander bit the back of a security technician at Biden’s Wilmington, Del., home.... Biden, 80, has reportedly expressed doubts about the honesty of a Secret Service member who reported being bitten on the leg by his prior dog Major, also a German shepherd.... Behind the scenes, agents described alarming series of incidents...."

I'm reading "Biden’s dog Commander sent Secret Service officer to hospital, bit 6 others after replacing first pooch Major" (NY Post).

Two aggressive, uncontrollable dogs? Clearly, the fault of the humans.

ADDED: Harry Truman famously said, "If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog." Joe Biden got 2 dogs in Washington and both were enemies.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

Dog's can develop a taste for members of specific agency, to the exclusion of all other government employees.
For example, there was a beloved wiener dog named Oscar, kind of a mascot at an EPA field office in Nebraska, that devoured several Department of Agriculture employees over the years, stripped them to the bone. The creature was as sweet as pie to everybody else. He seemed to be especially affectionate with IRS agents, for some reason.
Anyway, they couldn't break Oscar of his USDA habit. They tried everything. If he ate someone, right away they'd beat him really hard and chain him up out back, but Oscar gave no indication he was the least bit contrite. Somebody said they should try switching him from dry food to wet food. Pffft. That was joke. They even started him on a CBD oil regimen. Nothing helped. Finally, they had to put Oscar in a crate and drive him to the big city. A sad day, by all accounts.

I'm pretty sure in the county I live that the dog would have been required to be put down after the second bite. I know for sure due to experience that one reported bite results in a report to the county and a visit from the animal control police.

FWIW, the "bite" in our case was from a 3-month old, maybe 3-lb miniature Schnauzer puppy that was choked out by a litter mate whose lower jaw was caught in the puppy's collar. (Puppy passed out from lack of oxygen.) In separating them, skin on my wife's finger was punctured by one of the puppy's sharp teeth. My wife saw the blood, and first thought it was from one of the dogs. She took the choked-out puppy to the vet to make sure she was fine, and the vet reported the "bite" to the government and within 24 hours 2 agents showed up at our front door.

You will find a fact check that was conducted by PolitiFact of a statement made by John Kasich in 2016 crediting the "dog" quote to Truman. But the good people at PolitiFact (snarc) checked with the Harry S. Truman Library/Museum . . . and they have never been able to verify that Truman every said it. Kasich's statement was ruled "False". Not quite sure why an apocryphal but otherwise harmless quote such as this would have justified a fact check in 2016.

I don’t think it is exactly that here, but maybe a bit.

With Crooked Hillary living in the WH, we learned what the federal employees employed there were the “help”, who could be abused by the First Family, whoever it took their fancy. Nobody apparently wanted to be on her SS detail. Ditto for FJB’s detail as VP, esp when he would swim nude. Female agents? Not his problem. They know whose cocaine that was, found in a place in the WH that is tightly controlled. There very likely were fingerprints on both the baggy and the cubby. It was very likely someone with a top hard pass, a family member, or someone brought in by a family member. The Biden’s see it as part of job of their S S personnel to be bitten by their dogs. Just as it was for FJB’s female S S detail to watch him swim nude. They are “help”, and do what they are told. It’s very demeaning, and they should worry that the agents so abused might not jump quite as quickly in front of a bullet aimed at them. But they don’t, because they assume that the S S are professionals. And note the difference between the last three Dem Presidents, and the last two Republican ones, who knew everyone’s names, and in GWB’s case, would routinely ask staff, whether WH, S S, etc, about family members, etc. Trump, the day after his nomination, had a televised meeting of staff, and thanked the many people who had made it possible - the carpenters building the stage, the various security agencies involved (including the S S), etc. Both showed exceptional appreciation for all those working for them.

I think that we all know what is going on. Part of the joy of exercising power is the ability to the ability to show people that they have power over them. That often translates into demeaning them, whether it be your boss screaming at you, or FJB swimming nude in front of female S S agents, or keeping dogs that repeatedly bite lesser beings, including S S agents. And it’s not just Dem men - Nancy Palsi was equally storied in her abuse of staff.

Althouse writes, "Two aggressive, uncontrollable dogs? Clearly, the fault of the humans."

Clearly, this is Althouse being facetious. Defenders of dangerous canines often blame the human victims for transgressing some absurd and specious rule of dog behavior. Whenever a toddler is mauled to death by a pit bull, there's always a pit bull fancier available to explain why the child deserved its fate, which is nth-degree bullshit, but there is a sizeable minority who eat up that crap with a runcible spoon. The truth is dogs, along with everyone else who is a card-carrying eukaryote, obey their genes. All canine lineage have a genetic imperative for violent, death-dealing action being members of genus Lupus. The difference in dogs is another genetic imperative that makes them behaviorally submissive to a human, not all humans, but the human, the significant other. Good, morally upright people own nice friendly dogs. Shitheads and "badass motherfuckers" own dangerous and useless beasts that bite children, poop on your lawn, and dig up your delphiniums.

Clearly, the pattern of aggressive violence seen in the Biden family pets is the result of Joe Biden's psychotic abuse of his canine slaves.

Our daughters family had to put down there dog. They had a Wiener dog for 15 years, old age forced them to put him to sleep during covid. Replaced him with a 8 week old puppy, Pit bull cross. Never bit anyone, but the family never trusted him, and he was aggressive. They spent over $1000 in professional, training. 10 months after they got him, they put him down. There is no room for mistakes.

Mike (MJB Wolf) म्हणाले...

Let's recall just how weird Joe's story about hurting his ankle while pulling his dog's tail happened, as Joe told it to fake Jake Tapper:

“What happened was I got out of the shower. I got a dog and anybody who’s been around my house knows — dropped, little pup dropped a ball in front of me. And for me to grab the ball,” Biden told CNN journalist Jake Tapper in his first post-election joint interview with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

“And I’m walking through this little alleyway to get to the bedroom. And I grabbed the ball like this and he ran. And I’m joking, running after him and grab his tail. And what happened was that he slid on a throw rug. And I tripped on the rug he slid on. That’s what happened. Oh man, not a very exciting story.”

Now I know he was supposedly sharper back then, but the use of the word "alleyway" where any normal person would have said "hall" struck me as highly unusual before I got to the actual facts. I mean, really the whole scene is freaky. He exits the shower naked and runs after the dog grabbing its tail in the alleyway near his bedroom. That's how he twisted his ankle. Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

You know you smartass fuckers would have a field day dissecting this story if Trump had told it, but I remember it made barely a ripple then, just like the initial dog-bites-SS agent story faded quickly. And even as you dismiss it again now, you know it explains a LOT of the biting that happened. These Bidens are just too fucking weird.

If Joe Biden had really accepted $10s of millions in bribes, he could simply hire a few dog handlers to watch his dogs 24/7 and take them everywhere they need to go around the White House on leash. The fact that he hasn’t done that proves he is innocent of the alleged bribery schemes.

How has it not occurred to the Secret Service that they could do assign dog handlers? Perhaps it has and they think it is beneath their dignity, or crosses the line of what they perceive to be a proper expenditure. But it seems rather obvious that this is what they should do to keep their agents from being bit.

Neither is any trouble -- well, except that Charlie (the MD one) is now diabetic, and getting him to sit still for twice-daily "vetsulin" injections is something of a task.

Both are of an age, and that age is getting into "wow, are you still alive?" territory. I dread the day one of them dies. It can't be more than a couple years off, maybe sooner.

One reason dogs smell better than humans is because their noses are simply built better for the job. In addition to more olfactory receptors, dog's noses are constructed to function differently. When canines inhale, a fold of tissue inside the nostril separates the airflow into two paths – one for olfaction and one for respiration. About 15 percent of the air is sent to the olfactory area as it is examined, recognized (or not) and sorted, before it is exhaled.

Two decades ago our family got a half Lab, half Aussie pup. He lived in our house and yard, got walked in our neighborhood, and learned quickly how to behave on a leash. He was six months old and about 50 pounds of lean speed when he ended up unleashed in our front yard. A neighbor a few doors down, a Black man, walked into his yard. Our dog made a beeline for him, barking up a storm and obviously preparing to attack the innocent neighbor, who for his own safety retreated inside his house while the dog went insane on his front porch.

I offered to have our dog euthanized for this dangerous behavior. I'd never seen such behavior before in any dog I'd owned. The neighbor explained that he'd been through this before with dogs, and that some dogs are just very pack-oriented. They see anyone who looks different (race, size, even clothing style) as not in their pack, and become insanely defensive. He suggested acclimitization training as a way to prevent future attacks, and our dog learned that the Black man who came to our yard and gave him seven straight days of treats was a fine fellow, and a member of our pack.

Shepherds as a breed are supposedly quite family or pack oriented and are known to violently defend against strangers. That makes them great guard dogs, but bad family pets for kids. Or presidents.
