Medical Journal’s False Consensus on ‘Gender-Affirming Care’
Springer has decided to retract a paper, that received activist blowback, on a technicality.
Their new paper is based on survey responses from more than 1,600 parents who reported that their children, who were previously comfortable in their bodies, suddenly declared a transgender identity after extensive exposure to social media and peer influence. Mr. Bailey’s and Ms. Diaz’s sin was to analyze rapid onset gender dysphoria, or ROGD. Gender activists hate any suggestion that transgender identities are anything but innate and immutable. Even mentioning the possibility that trans identity is socially influenced or a phase threatens their claims that children can know early in life they have a permanent transgender identity and therefore that they should have broad access to permanent body-modifying and sterilizing procedures.

Within days of publication, a group of activists wrote a public letter condemning the article and calling for the termination of the journal’s editor. Among the letter’s signatories is Marci Bowers, a prominent genital surgeon and president of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, an advocacy organization that promotes sex changes for minors.

Of course, there is no danger of any Ukrainian ethnic cleansing of Russians in Ukraine: most of them support Ukraine, and some Russians from Russia have even invaded Belgorod. The only ones who will have to leave will be those unwilling to live under Ukrainian sovereignty.

Which reminds me: I believe Belgorod oblast and other border areas are majority ethnically-Ukrainian, as is the Kuban, a huge area across the Kerch bridge from Crimea. Ukraine has never claimed these areas, whose inhabitants could (before the war) move to Ukraine if they didn't like being ruled by Russians, as Russians in Ukraine could move to Russia. If borders were redrawn by majority ethnic group, Russia would probably lose far more acres than it gained.

As for Triumph of the Will stuff, you need only to watch Russian television to see who the true Nazis are. On Twitter, the translators I know are @JuliaDavisNews, @francis_scarr, and @Kremlin_Yap, but I imagine there are others. The fact is that Russian propaganda is openly genocidal (someone has been checking off the ten characteristics of genocide and has lots of examples of all 10). They talk about burning or drowning children, killing two million or more civilians, raping all the women (one - a 'human rights expert' as I recall - said he thought the older women would appreciate being raped by handsome young Russians). They usually have six or eight on at once, and none of the others ever object much to the genocide or rape talk. They've been talking specifically about destroying Ukraine's infrastructure the whole time, mentioning gas, electric, water, and yes specifically dams. Also nuking London, Berlin, Warsaw, D.C., and so on. Just yesterday a professor (!) said that Ukrainians don't feel pain, so Russians are fighting the "undead": dehumanization is of course one of the top characteristics of genocide.

Of course, Putin is in fact committing genocide in Ukraine, with torture chambers, mass graves, mass flooding, and "filtration camps" where Ukrainians are sorted into those sent to Siberia (hundreds of thousands so far) and those killed for resisting.
