When the outbreak occurred around the Wuhan Institute, the odds the virus was a lab leak were at least 75% on that evidence alone (higher in my opinion, but let's be generous to the detractors of the lab leak theory). However, when that furin cleavage site with its startlingly improbable combination of codons, those odds immediately went to 99.999% that it was lab created. Everyone who has continued to assert that the origin was natural was immediately confined to two groups- morons and liars.
What is worse is that the US government was funding the work that led to this virus' construction. Eco-Health Alliance's head bragged publicly about doing exactly what was done to create COVID- his firm's grant specifically described all the work that one would do with a coronavirus to create COVID-19. Fauci and others at the NIH have repeatedly lied about this and continue to lie today.

All the pertinent information on Covid-19 was published in the first two months of the pandemic. Not the information on the super-deadly strains still sitting somewhere in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party. But all the rest.

That’s almost right. Some portion of the funding may have come from the Chinese military, however Rand Paul got Anthony Fauci to admit in testimony before the Senate that a large portion of the research funding came from our own NIH, and, specifically, from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) under the leadership of Francis Collins and Antony Fauci, respectively. The funding was made through grants to perform gain of function research which were laundered through an outfit called the EcoHeslth Alliance.
Back in 1972 President Nixon pushed through the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention, ending US research into biological warfare. However some microbiologists continued bioweapons research under the rubric of “gain of function research.” Not all gain of function research increases transmissibility of lethality of a virus, but some of it does just that. Consequently the Obama administration ordered a temporary halt to gain of function research in the US in 2014. Francis Collins quietly got it going again in 2017 (yes, Trump was President) and Fauci even more quietly off-shored research into increasing transmissibility off to Wuhan.
