As much fun as watching the Russians fight amongst themselves is watching the anti-Ukrainian posters try to tell us why it is such a bad thing.

Why the hell?
The thing about war is that you cannot control it, you cannot predict it, you cannot just make it do what you want it to do. So through all these months as I've listened to American politicians and media clamor for more billions of dollars and the emptying out of our own weaponry and ammo to send to Ukraine, I've wondered how long before this gets out of control.
World Wars have started by unexpected events. Currently, Russia holds as many or more nukes than anyone in the world. They are now being attacked by NATO, Ukraine, and the Wagner Group. And even if the Russian people want an end to this (and I don't know that to be true), Putin will do whatever he can to retain power. And so...nukes come into play.
Wondering if our preening rock stars and actors who wanted to be seen with Zelensky, the UN, the EU, and American politicians and those who 'know what's right' saw any of this coming? I'm pretty confident Antony Blinken and Joe Biden did not. (Joe's team is busy tweeting about abortions this morning).
Never encourage war. Never finance and support it unless it's for your own direct national security. When will we learn?

It is interesting that Russia appears to be - a little more than 100 years later - on the verge of another civil war...at least of what we're seeing is to be believed.
I would just like to say that if that is true this is good for no one. If anyone knows anything about how things went the last time that is, except now it involves the world's largest stockpile of atomic warheads. Yippie.

Still, there is a great deal to be concerned about with this. Anyone who has what it takes to mount an insurrection against Putin is not likely to be overly concerned with the niceties of the rules of war and human rights or basic decency. Could be worse than Putin, not likely to be much better.
If one's take on today's events is "Darn it, Putin's regime wouldn't be teetering if we had just let the Ukrainians die," it's time to admit that you're not antiwar, you're pro-Putin. We've been opposing the foreign policy of a nuclear-armed Russian state for 75 years, and somehow in all that time, the only context in which certain people argue, "we have to give the Russians everything they want or they might use nukes," is the invasion of Ukraine.

No, I am against the US being involved in a border dispute thousands of miles away over who gets to rule over Russian speakers, and raising the stakes on that border dispute to the brink of nuclear war.
It's amazing how many people can't get it through their head that the USSR no longer exists, Krushchev was a Ukrainian, BTW, and Ukraine was part of the USSR, and that the Russians have never done anything to us, since the fall of the Soviet Union, despite the lies Hillary made up about election interference.

There are actually an insane number of correlations between the beginning of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.
