What does "back" mean?

"Back on television"? No. He is not on television. My understanding -- and I want very much to get this cleared up -- is that Tucker is being paid under his FNC contract, and per his contract he is not permitted to do any other... Yeah; what is it that he does? It isn't news casting. It technically isn't even "broadcasting," since he was on cable. What does Tucker do?

Tucker was revealed in the Dominion case to be a slave to his viewers' prejudices. His video is utter bs.

I wonder how he monetizes to recover the $25m contract he is reportedly walking away from. Contract with Musk?

He'll have to lose the fake laugh for the truth bit. ("This is so outrageous that I can't say how exactly it's outrageous")

Elon Musk saved Free Speech in America.

What a great American.

No one else could have done this. What courage.

Tucker is a brilliant writer and a compelling presenter.

He also has the same problem that accuses all other media of having.

It was just a few months ago that he lauded Kanye West after he interviewed him - an interview where his staff edited out Kanye’s anti-Semitic remarks.

The texts released from the Dominion law suit clearly indicated that he was more interested in fan service than reporting the truth. It would have been productive if he gave his views in Sydney Powell on his show but he did not want to anger his audience.

Tucker is like many others in the media in that he is a slave to a narrative instead of a seeker of truth. More entertaining than his MSLSD counterparts but not really that much different.

Thank you, Fox, for taking Tucker's muzzle off.

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

First Howard left airwaves radio for Sirius XM. Still going strong as the best paid radio personality. Then Joe Rogan left YouTube for Spotify and $200 mill. (chump change)

Now Tucker leaves Fox and joins Twitter.

The death spiral has been slow, but it has been steady.

Ann, they’re misleading you…

I was done with Fox when those nooner women all told Newt (in unison) he could not say Soros was buying DAs. What took y’all so long?

I've never been a Tucker Carlson fan, but it's certainly true that it if you don't have freedom of speech, you don't have freedom -- or, more precisely, you won't have it for long.

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

Fox suing him, because Tucker still under contract to Fox, will only make him bigger adding underdog to his... pronouns.

Suing Tucker for airing on Twitter, Fox would be cutting off their nose to save face.

Given that the Tucker vortex vacuum is sapping Hannity and Ingraham (neither of whom are to my taste), it looks like the Murdoch boys are trying to sell Bud Light from the trunk of an Edsel.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer set of heirs; as I told my wife, I watch people, I don't watch networks.

"Fox suing him, because Tucker still under contract to Fox"

I'm curious if this is actual a violation of his contract. Media folks are able to use Twitter without conflict with their employer, so would this be like that?

He's not joining a competing cable news company, he's not signing a contract with anyone else, it seems. He's providing his show on Twitter for what I gather is the usual Twitter content creator benefits, and I'd be surprised if his contract took that kind of new media alternative in mind.

It'd be, in old media perspective, like if he was to publish a book or write a newspaper column.

Breezy said...

It’s been a lot of work trying to figure out where the lies lie, for real. I hope his new venue is as he says, and that it’ll be a lot less work to figure things out from there. I’m getting too old for this crap.

Love Live Tucker. And may others follow his lead, with courage. Just give the honest truth as thoroughly as you know and believe, and reject what anyone tells you to say if it’s not true or provable.

So, you would have preferred that Tucker call Sydney Powell a cunt on TV ?

He was close to the edge of what was permitted by corporate masters who have shown themselves to be pretty dumb. Let's see what he does when freed from the shackles.

Poor hpudd:

You poor fool. Did you notice all those riots in Democrat cities ? Did you notice the proxy war we are fighting in Ukraine? Did you happen to notice the Garland Gulag where people are being held without bail for "trespassing?" For years ?

No, of course you didn't because you are another sheep waiting to be sheared.

rehajm said...

It’s kind if goofy to hear Carlson talk about outlets for free speech and ‘last big one’ remaining is Twitter. Implies it’s always been instead of just very recently…like today? I mean they were still banning people last week for comments the left doesn’t like…

Jimmy said...

Interesting development. Tucker was apparently attacking big pharma, and that is a no no. He also doesn't support the Ukraine war, which is a big no no with Murdoch.
He is still under contract, until Jan 2025-after the election. I'm sure there will be court battles to come, and counter suites and all that.
What angers the left, as can be seen on this blog, is that they no longer control the news flow. No one who has been breathing for the last 3 years believes Russia Trump, vaccine BS, or that American Justice is impartial.
expect lots of whining and crying as the left is exposed to free speech. I've read the crybabies re Musk. Yet his stated goal is to make Twitter the worlds salon or market place of ideas. In doing this, he has specifically said he wants both sides involved.
clearly a problem-the left has been lying, and creating propaganda for 30 years or more. The blatant incompetence of the so call journalists, experts, and legal begals is painfully obvious, and the left can't handle being shown up.
Tucker left, and Fox is behind everyone in ratings now. But it doesn't matter anymore, just that the left hasn't figured out its bull isn't being bought anymore.
more free speech is a good thing, and much needed. Biden et al can't stand the light of day, so hopefully they will implode and be forgotten in the dust bin of crappy totalitarian wannabes.

Tucker has actually been restrained from full narrative attacks. Only recently has he started calling out the narratives for what they are. The result is instant censorship.

Can’t wait to see what he lets fly on a Twitter Broadcast. We may have a sophisticated Joe Rogan.

Geez this is all over the map.

- Fox News fired Tucker
- No wait, Fox News didn't fire Tucker, and will continue to pay his contract, but no show any more.
- No wait, Fox News is chaining Tucker to his contract, just to silence him and stop him from giving Donald Trump any more encouragement, or even compliments.
- No wait, Fox News is punishing Tucker for his milquetoast comments about Dominion, the least offensive of any of its broadcasters, that cost them a fat settlement.
- Meanwhile Fox News is threatening Dominion for leaking discovery content to Media Matters that is being aired to make Tucker Carlson look bad, but which only makes him look better to Conservatives.
- No wait, Fox News is suing Tucker for tweeting in violation of his empty work schedule.

Does anybody actually know what's going on ??

Aggie said...

The interesting thing is, conservative commenters right now are making Big Hay out of the pummeling that Fox is taking in viewership, down below CNN levels, Haw Haw. But how much of a problem is that, really? Most of their revenue is from cable subscriptions. I've read 75% is from subs, 25% from ad revenue, for cable news programming. So how much has really changed with Carlson's show being axed? You could argue that My Pillow is the hardest hit.

If Tucker’s contract doesn’t have an escape clause in the event Fox tries to keep him under contract without giving him a show, then he needs a new agent. And some good lawyers to get a judge to throw it out (which is likely as courts do not look fondly on employer shenanigans designed to ruin an employee’s career).

Take away the personalities and the specifics.

What have YOU learned from this Tucker event?

You cant trust what you are being told. The government is lying. Constantly. The media, ALL the media is complicit in the dissemination of the the narrative .. Pick what ever news reader, writer, talker...and they are controlled by a multitude of outside influences.

All of this is led by the Uni Party in Washington DC.

The solution to this is Federalism. States retaking their power from DC.Constitutional carry, School Vouchers, laws protecting women from men claiming to be women, abortion. It takes time but the power truly does flow FROM the people...we can claw it back.

iowan2 said...

who was born on 3rd base? Is this that Obama trope, 'you didn't build that'

"Why did you conclude I was referring only to this post?"

Where did I "conclude" anything?

In any case, comments in the post thread should be presumed to refer to the post. In fact, the instructions say: "Comments should respond to material raised in the post."

Do you want me to presume you don't follow instructions? You seem to think you can attack me for presuming you did and also to think that to presume is to conclude, which it isn't. And yet, I didn't even presume anything.

You're so far off. Why not just apologize?

This both stupid and wrong. Stupid because no corporation can take a 25%...or whatever portion was lost with Tucker's dismissal...easily.

Incorrect because over 50% of their revenue comes from advertisers: "Fox Corporation derives the majority of its revenue from advertising, which made up 54% of sales over the final three months of 2022, an earnings report showed. Apr 26, 2023"

Don't be dense: It's a speculative question. I don't know the answer to it, do you? I think the real cost of Carlson's departure is a fair-game question of interest, at the heart of the matter. It seems to have touched a nerve, though.

Frozen food empire heir McNear Tucker Swanson Carlson doesn’t report or comment intelligently on any of those things - he just hypes them up like a backup singer at a rap concert to promote stupid positions like supporting Hungarian or KGB tyrants, freaking out about white replacement theory or tanning your testicles. (Yes, he actually had a whole show about how suntanning your testicles will reverse whatever damage all the Republican pro-pollution policies have done to them).

Nope, I don’t need anyone to tell me what to think, MichaKGB. But since you do, I’m glad that the phony populist Tucker Swanson performs that function for you.
