Making music playlists is not as fun anymore. Not since whatever I can do, ChatGPT can do better.

I was working on a British and Scottish women of soul playlist. It could take me months. And it won't be as complete as ChatGPT in only seconds.

I was asking ChatGPT about eugenics when I fell afoul of its content rules because I made the declarative statement that numbers in the black community were declining due to abortions at Planned Parenthood. So I was referred to Chat's content rules page. And one thing I found interesting was that "news generation or news summarization" must be accompanied by "a disclaimer to users informing them that AI is being used and of its potential limitations." So I guess reporters can't just generate stories via ChatGPT. In addition, "plagiarism," "academic dishonesty," "disinformation," and "astroturfing" are banned.

Now that our government punishes acts of bravery in the defense of innocents, expect to see more crime. The criminals will take note and be emboldened. No that there may come a time when you are under threat and might look for assistance only to discover that no one will take on both the immediate physical risk as well as state violence on top of that. You women should be first to come to the defense of a man who would be willing to risk his life to aid you. You should especially be vocal about this knowing that the state will put in jail your protectors while letting loose (44 times) your threats.

I just invented a metric for how well American Dem run cities are doing. Compare the city in question to Cleveland OH. In good times, everyone makes fun of Cleveland, the crime, the sports teams, the weather, Lake Erie, everything. But in really bad times, nobody mentions Cleveland at all. How many Dem run cities are worse than Cleveland right now?

I know nothing about the chatty gpt. Ignorance is bliss, for me! Think of the excitement and joy of finding more songs at a later date, Lem. Like a treasure hunt.

Our brains are going to shrink w/computers doing everything for us. Our grey matter won’t matter.

At some point, I hope Democrats wake up and see who is running the country. THIS is why we are so screwed...

She was out of office for over 3 months...

"Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California insisted that she had not been absent from the Senate when asked about it by reporters on Tuesday, according to Slate and the Los Angeles Times.

“No, I haven’t been gone,” she told the Times’ Ben Oreskes on Tuesday when asked how her Senate colleagues have responded to her return. “You should follow the — I haven’t been gone, I’ve been working.”

Oreskes then asked her whether she had been working from home. “No, I’ve been here. I’ve been voting,” she said. “Please, you either know or don’t know.”"

Remember early yesterday when Ukraine was claiming that Russia had launched eight hypersonic missiles and Ukraine had shot them all down? There were three large impacts within the space of two minutes on the location where the Patriot missile battery was deployed, a minute or two after it squirted out $150 million dollars worth of interceptors at them in the space of two minutes.

Now people are saying that their 100% success rate against Russian hypersonics proves that we need not fear nuclear war against Russia, because we are certain to win.

It would benefit us all to focus on how power corrupts rather than point fingers at the Democratic or Republican parties. There is a natural biological process known as convergent evolution, where animals change in body shape and abilities to function effectively in a given environment:

https://www.livescience.com/convergent-evolution.html

Every politician must adopt a generic political model or they'll be washed away by others. The two main models across the world are (1) sleazy persuaders who lie and speak out both sides of their mouths to keep enough people fooled all the time, and (2) strongman bullies who use military and police power to intimidate and neutralize their opposition. Either one can talk about patriotism, tradition, reform, or revolution -- they could not care less as long as they stay in power.

These principles apply to whoever is in power, be the the US establishment, the UN, the EU, Russia, China, Canada, New Zealand, etc. Yes, the USA has levels of corruption once considered unique to the USSR and EU. This follows from a lifelong sense of entitlement and cross-generational political dynasties. They always become defensive "old money" to keep what they have.

farmgirl, I love the world of your comments, but you might reconsider your thoughts about the effect of AI on our brains. Think of it as a Big Bud 16V-747 Tractor to till and plant the fields of your brain instead of a mule and plow. It's just a big-ass tool to get more of the job done and still have time to share sweet thoughts here.

I have just finished reading the absolute worst book I have ever read all the way through-
The Aftermath, by Philip Bump. Bump writes for WaPo.
It's marketed as a guide to the expected economic, political, and social changes that will result from the passing of the Baby Boom generation.
I picked it up at he local library, thinking that I might learn something about my cohort (I'm approx same age as our hostess).
What I learned is that we are, as a group, no good, and the reason that we are no good is that we are all a bunch of racists. We don't want to live in cities because, well, you know, and we vote Republican because, well, you know...
We love us some NASCAR, we love our pickups, and we especially love us some Trump!
Trump is depicted as a typical Boomer, despite being one of us by only the most technical definition- born in 1946, and not remotely part of our economic or social class.
So desperate is Bump for villains that he tells us of a loser named Floyd (!) Roseberry. Our man Floyd threatened to explode a bomb in his pickup(!) 7 months after the J6 event. Only after roping us into the 2 minute hate do we learn that Floyd is not even a Boomer, born too late in 1972, but of course he was speaking for us. Of course.

Bump documents his conclusions very well; 98% (an honest estimate) of his quotes are from left wing (Atlantic, New York magazine) or university sources.
There are a (very) few outliers- young people who are conservative, some of them non-white, but on the bottom of page 311, Bump says the quiet part out loud.
"That you are reading this book makes it more likely that you're a liberal."

Not exactly. Patton read Rommel's book. I read Bump's.

What constitutes a "mob" in Nebraska?
I was in Skokie when the so called Nazis marched.,( I was on my lunch break.) There was , like, 10 of them. There were more cops than Nazis. What you couldn't hear in the news report was all the people laughing at them.

https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/russia-says-it-took-out-us-supplied-patriot-missile-unit-hypersonic-strike-kiev
Geopolitical analysis blog Moon of Alabama says the reports of a destroyed Patriot system are accurate:

This is factual:

Patriot Missiles Won’t Save Ukraine - National Interest - May 9, 2023
Patriot systems are limited to pinpoint defense of major assets and are designed to operate in tandem with air defenses engaging targets at higher and lower altitudes. Without these additions, Patriot will have too many threats to engage and the result will either be porous coverage that doesn’t protect its defended assets, or coverage that quickly subsides when Patriot runs out of interceptors.

Moreover, Patriot systems are themselves vulnerable. Operating a Patriot radar system gives away its location, making it an open target for Russian attacks. This means that Patriot is not a one-stop-shop for defending Ukraine’s military assets or its people.

Those facts were proven last night...

I've been asking for about a year now... What happens, when we LOSE in the Ukraine?

What happens, when we LOSE in the Ukraine?

The same thing that happened when we lost in Afghanistan, Iraq, VietNam, Libya, Somalia, Lebanon, ad nauseam.

A few kids from the Deplorable cohort get killed or maimed, a few billion dollars wasted, a lot of money finds its way to favored pockets, this great country dies a little more.

Other than that...

Now the same people who falsely claimed that all of the missiles had been intercepted are claiming that the Patriot battery was unharmed. Of course it fired off 20% of our annual production of interceptors in two minutes and still three missiles hit. Even taking these inveterate liars at their word.

Planetgeo, where I live, on the hillsides and down along the riverbanks of the Missisquoi, those kinds of tractors get stuck, roll over or don’t have enough room to turn around! I think of the Articulating 100s of horsepower tractors vs the multiple- hitched horse pulled equipment of the Amish and I know exactly what I admire more.

I saved a letter to the editor, dating back when Madeline Kunin was governor of this sadly colored state of blue. It was signed by the cutting-edge farmers of the day on the use of rBST for more milk. How those against its legalization were antiquated, backward thinking and afraid of the bigger, better tools of progress. You know?

I was still in HS I think- or barely in college. I didn’t agree w/them- I still don’t. It may be you’re talking apples while I’m squeezing an orange, here- and that’s ok. I’ll stay pessimistic and guard my grey(matter) lol.
