Since Althouse was one of the first people in media, anywhere, to recognize and appreciate the significance of the "Me Too" movement (I recall distinctly not getting it, myself, and thinking that Althouse was following a kind of social wild goose chase), today's "Me Too" story.
In the upcoming trial in the USDC (SDNY) case of E. Jean Carroll v. Donald J. Trump, the jury may hear from two additional female accusers of the Defendant, as well as the "Access Hollywood recording of Trump's voice.
"Billionaire Bill Gates dismissed the possibility of people making significant changes to their lifestyle, like giving up meat and becoming vegetarians for the sake of countering the alleged effects of climate change.
“I don’t think we can count on people living a impoverished lifestyle as a solution to climate change,” Gates said at an event in India on March 1. “You know, meat consumption in India will be less … That’s wonderful. Will all Indians become vegetarians? Will all Americans become vegetarians? I wouldn’t want to count on it. Anybody who wants to evangelize that, they’re welcome to. I won’t resist in any way.”
Gates had earlier pushed for rich nations to adopt 100 percent synthetic beef that is made from plant proteins like beans or peas, carbs like potato starch, fats like canola or coconut oil, minerals, and flavorings.
In an online interaction on Reddit in January, Gates pushed for the widespread adoption of plant-based meat products.
“For people who want to go Vegan that is great but I don’t think most people will do that. There are companies making ‘beef’ in new ways and people working to still use cows but reduce the methane emissions,” he wrote.
Gates’ push to move away from meat consumption and adopt plant-based alternatives comes as he is busy buying up farmland in America.
According to a July 2022 letter sent by Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) seeking Gates’ testimony regarding his farm purchases, the Microsoft founder is the “largest private farmland owner” in the United States, owning more than 270,000 acres of farmland in 19 states.
Energy Consumption At the India event, Gates also talked about energy consumption. He pointed out that if governments are willing to implement tough laws, air conditioning can simply be banned, which would be “good for the climate.” However, he admitted that this would not happen as a warmer climate will keep raising the demand for cooling."
Somehow I get the impression that when Gates says 'this will not happen,' he means that it will happen, and people will like it or else.
I get my flower seeds now from Prairie Moon Nursery after looking at your garden plan a few years ago. I get the Wisconsin seeds for Wisconsin concept (or Minnesota seeds for Wisconsin if we're going to be exact - but it's all one zone - sort of - just over the river at Winona - but enough.) But what's the advantage of Botanical Interests for vegetables? How big of a garden for those seeds?

They will have to be enticed with the promise of pretzels.
The plant I fell for last year was toad lilies. Great for our shade garden, with just two plants I was amazed at how many orchid like flowers we got all September long.
I am getting more variety of them this year, knowing I have a great spot for them and that they're worth collecting.
This is what goes on at America's "eleite" law schools: https://player.vimeo.com/video/806801455?h=16c79baa14 That woman is a dean. The rot has gotten so bad within higher-ed that we need to burn it down and start from scratch.
I've ordered 4 Oregon Spring tomato starts from Territorial Seed out of Cottage Grove, OR. We love that variety. Now I have plenty of SUNNY space to plant them so they get full sun. Tomatoes are hit or miss in Pugetopulis. We need a warm summer for the tomatoes to ripen.
I plan on sowing bulbs this fall. Our old house had a 7x20-ft planter of bulbs (hyacinths, tulips and dafodils) that kept coming back every spring. I need to figure where the new bulb patch will be, probably along the fence near the road. Full sun and well drained soil.
“Hanoi Jane” Fonda has the solution to what to do with pro-lifers. I don’t watch “The View,” but I understand that the following exchange took place, in the context of the overturning of Roe v. Wade:
“Besides marching and protesting, what else do you suggest?” Joy Behar asked.
“Murder” responded Fonda.
Lily Tomlin apparently didn’t quite believe what she had heard, so Fonda repeated herself. “Murder.”
So the woman who sat at the firing controls of an antiaircraft gun looking for a US Air Force jet she could shoot at, expresses what I take to be the standard radical feminist response to people who disagree with them. You run with some interesting females, Althouse.
BTW, back in 1983 Fonda was sued by the female staff of her exercise studio for sex discrimination. They were being paid $6 per hour, the men $8.50. Fonda’s response was that the men were managers. So all men, and only men, were managers. But don’t you dare criticize her feminist credentials!
Naomi Wolf Substack: Dear Conservatives, I Apologize. My "Team" was Taken in By Full-Spectrum Propaganda.
There is no way to avoid this moment. The formal letter of apology. From me. To Conservatives and to those who “put America first” everywhere.
It’s tempting to sweep this confrontation with my own gullibility under the rug — to “move on” without ever acknowledging that I was duped, and that as a result I made mistakes in judgement, and that these mistakes, multiplied by the tens of thousands and millions on the part of people just like me, hurt millions of other people like you all, in existential ways.
But that erasure of personal and public history would be wrong.
I owe you a full-throated apology.
I believed a farrago of lies. And, as a result of these lies, and my credulity — and the credulity of people similarly situated to me - many conservatives’ reputations are being tarnished, on false bases.
The proximate cause of this letter of apology is the airing, two nights ago, of excepts from tens of thousands of hours of security camera footage from the United States Capitol taken on Jan 6, 2021. The footage was released by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson [https://www.axios.com/2023/03/08/mccarthy-defends-jan-6-footage-tucker-carlson-fox-news].
Silicon Valley Bank? Tucker Carlson indicated tonight that you could have made a lot of money shorting stocks pushed by Jim Cramer. Don’t know if that’s true, but it seems plausible. And it’s certainly true in the case of SVB. I don’t normally watch Carlson, but I had been hoping for more January 6th footage.
Something called “AI catfishing” is going to raise the scams to the next level. These new video filters can make a 4 look like a 10, and you will not know they are deep fakes.
General Banker keeps plugging away. The Gotham was his third successive third-place finish in a Derby points race. His 24 points rank 10th. David Grening reported in Daily Racing Form that General Banker will aim to the Grade 2 Wood Memorial on April 8 at Aqueduct. After watch FORTE and the impressive win in Grade 2 race I see him as a derby favorite (of which I usually bet against, but this one looks powerful) My friends uncle Jimmy(Ferraro) trains General Banker who is going in a grade 2 but I don't see much chance for the horse to reach 40 points to get in.(24 now) The sire not noted for stamina or long races and the General though paying his way in the barn as a New York Bred almost 500K believe way outclassed. Next race in April will tell the story. Confidence Game also ran big and looks strong and may have a price. Wife and I flying to Jersey to stay at BORGATA for 3 nights and play some 1 armed Bandits compliments of Borgata Sun Country airlines and MGM.We are thinking maybe heading to Aqueduct after that to play some ponies and see some people. We'll play it by ear.
Just imagine if a conservative woman said THIS about any Progressive?? The left isn't happy to murder just babies, NOW they are talking about murdering people who don't believe in murdering babies. Progressives suck.

That photograph means a lot to me because I know Meade selected everything specifically for me — not that I asked him, and I wasn't there when he picked all that stuff out, nor did I ask him to pose the packets and take the photograph.
There are now two investment ETF's where you can bet against CNBC's Jim Cramer picks, the biggest blowhard in the investment world. He promoted SVB no too long ago, now belly up. His biggest screw-up was stating Bear Stearns was in fine shape just prior to it's spectacular demise (2008). How this guy remains on TV is a mystery to me.
I don’t watch “The View,” so I have this second hand. The harpies of the show were discussing the end of Roe v. Wade with “Hanoi Jane” Fonda when this exchange happened:
”Besides marching and protesting, what else do you suggest?” Joy Behar asked.
“Well, I think murder,” Fonda replied.
Lily Tomlin couldn’t quite believe her ears. “What did you say?” she asked.
“Murder,” Fonda repeated.
So Fonda doesn’t have a handy antiaircraft gun she can aim at US Air Force jets anymore, but her sentiment towards people who disagree with her remains as homicidal as ever. Does she speak only for herself, or does she speak for the majority of Althouse’s precious radical feminists? Torched Crisis Pregnancy centers suggest the latter.
We will be moving into a new house in a couple of months with a 40'x60' backyard. Contractor leaving it blank so I can impose my own design on it. Will be putting in raised beds among other things. Hopefully, will be dragging out my seeds next year.
Yahoo news reports that Silicon Valley Bank invested heavily in Treasury bonds before interest rates skyrocketed. Part of their story says:
"Crucially, the Federal Reserve pinned interest rates at unprecedented lows. And, in a radical shakeup of its framework, it promised to keep them there until it saw sustained inflation well above 2% — an outcome that no official forecast."
Anyone who understands Milton Freeman could have forecast high inflation as the result of rapid money growth. I said so in one of the posts on Ann's blog at that time. The exact size may not have been known, but high inflation would occur.
Another story concerns Harry and Meghan. The rumors are that they were heavily invested with SVB and have lost everything. Boo hoo!
I was almost ready to accept Hanoi Jane's apology for her antiaircraft gun stunt. She's repeated the apology over the years. After her tirade on "The View", I cannot accept it. It's made in bad faith to just clear her reputation of a traitor. It's not sincere and she' still a traitor.

Yes, I agree: Botanical Interests is one of the very best seed companies out there, I have had terrific luck with just about everything.

That's ambitious, but don't plant any Morning Glory. Horrible plant anywhere.
Both those scallions are great in the garden. We really love the French Breakfast radishes from that source, we quit growing other varieties.
Looking forward to planting season
Ooh, I was just thinking today about getting the seeds going.

Bad to move lots of accounts this week. One wire went after fdic stepped in so boa working on getting it back. Shouldn’t be a problem we’re told…
If FR goes then that will be a problem…for just about everybody.

Morning Glory seeds, Poppy seeds, D-lysergic acid amide, morphine...
Planning a chemical vacation, Meade?
I see that Jane Fonda is concerned that her access to abortion services is under attack. Who do you suppose she's fucking?
No bean seeds in the packets. That probably represents a conspiracy against Beano or an effort to end the succession of beans and nuts.
