"behind" turned out to be the only wrong word in that sentence.

I watched the trailer and got caught-up in the excitement of the shifting scenes (multiple people, locations) especially the race to somewhere in the little Russian car. But the thing about the trailer that really caught my attention was the music. It made the various trailer scenes dramatic and exciting. The premise of the movie, how Tetris the game achieved a world-wide audience seemed ridiculous. But I became engaged with the movie trailer because of the emotional manipulation provided by the music. Perhaps I'll watch some of my favorite movies with the sound muted (I can get movies on the "premium" channels with subtitles so I can understand what the actors are saying) and compare my feelings against the same movies with the music. How important to a movie is the music? It may be quite important.

Myself, I never recovered emotionally from the first time I played Pong.

"Final Countdown," right? By . . . some band whose name I don't recall.

Never played Tetris or owned a Gameboy or the other one.

Not their audience, I think.

The band was Europe. I hear the song on the radio about 3-4 times a month.

Tetris was a fun game that require a lot of mental discipline and planning on the fly. I haven't played it in 30 years, but might look it up online tonight.

"The Final Countdown" is performed by the terrible 80s band Europe. Don't confuse it with "Eye of the Tiger" by the terrible 80s band Survivor.

No doubt this movie laundered a lot of money for AppleTV+, but they should have made some of the Russians black, for diversity points.

Any economic system other than capitalism is built on false assumptions and will eventually be left behind.

Yep...Final Countdown by Europe.

In. Remains the all time greatest game ever and something seared into my brain, nervous system and fingers. Still watch the World Tetris Championships, which are still played on Nintendo.

Capitalism is a system based on retain earnings ordered by personal productivity. This is in contrast to other schemes that deprecate individuals in favor of color blocs (i.e. "diversity") dictated by a minority (e.g. "community leaders") that emit credit, debit, bennies at their pleasure.

Transitioning... to a single/central/monopolistic solution under a nominally "secular" ethical religion with a class-disordered ideology.

Tetris is a pretty good video game. There are very few things designed in the USSR that caught on worldwide: The AK-47 and Tetris. The New Soviet Man didn't work out as promised....I get the sense that they might be overplaying the drama that went into its development. Maybe they should do a limited series about the development of Monopoly. Jason Stratham and Vin Diesel can star as the Parker Bros.

Tetris is online. You use the arrow keys. I myself never recovered from Myst.

Kudos for them not trying to invent a story around Tetris and instead making a movie based on the actual story about trying to get Tetris through the Iron Curtain. There's a really good documentary on it here if you want to learn more - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fQtxKmgJC8

Tetris starts with a T like TikTok… what else starts with a T?

Missile Command was the best game ever.

compare this movie, with The Queen's Gambit
At least this movie doesn't have a redheaded girl playing the role of Bobbie Fisher

(2) Centipede
(3) Galaga
(4) Time Pilot 1984
(5) Tetris

I always thought love of Tetris had an X-chromosome linkage thing going on because the majority of the people I knew who loved it were women.

I was a Battlezone guy myself. Stupidly simple graphics, but very challenging.

Also Spy Hunter. Dig-Dug. Frogger. And some not-very-popular sword fighting game that I was addicted to for about 45 minutes once.
