Here's a link to the text of the State of the Union.

From the White House website: "Remarks of President Joe Biden – State of the Union Address as Prepared for Delivery."

I didn't watch. I don't spend my time like that. Why watch when you can read? What do you think could happen? If the Speaker of the House tears up the speech, there will be a video clip. Did somebody shout out "Liar!" again? I'd rather hear about it after the fact than sit there watching and waiting for something to go wrong. I don't want anything to go wrong, and I don't believe anything useful will be said. If it is, I'll read about it the next day. That's much faster.

Stray quotes from the transcript:

We’re seeing these fields of dreams transform the heartland....Urban. Suburban. Rural. Tribal. And we’re just getting started.... American-made lumber, glass, drywall, fiber optic cables.... Let’s face reality.... Let’s give public school teachers a raise.... I’ve never had to have the talk with my children – Beau, Hunter, and Ashley – that so many Black and Brown families have had with their children.... I’ve made clear with President Xi that we seek competition, not conflict.... [L]ast year Jill and I re-ignited the Cancer Moonshot that President Obama asked me to lead.... My fellow Americans, we meet tonight at an inflection point.... We must be the nation we have always been at our best.... We are a good people, the only nation in the world built on an idea. That all of us, every one of us, is created equal in the image of God... As I stand here tonight, I have never been more optimistic about the future of America. We just have to remember who we are....

We just have to remember who we are... cue the dementia jokes.

In the #StateOfTheUnion, Biden said “30 million workers had to sign non-compete agreements when they took a job. So a cashier at a burger place can’t cross the street to take the same job at another burger place to make a couple bucks more.” False.

Why not just run a month of KJP's press briefings through a blender and let puppet Biden take a nap instead? The SOTU was surely past his bedtime. "Baghdad Bob" KJP provides adequate daily doses of propaganda for those into propaganda or dry humor.

In a post media world this is the power of propaganda. A favorable President can recite blatant falsehoods in a SOTU and it just doesn't matter. So long as there are enough people with rules like Since NYT said this it's true or WaPo isn 't reporting that so it didn't happen it realy doesn't matter what is said...

There is a level of cowardice in claiming to cover the Biden SOTU without actually watching it. "Transcripts" are frequently put out to make Biden sound more coherent than he actually is, covering for his dementia and general incompetence.

Talking about transcripts is a bigger waste of time than watching the actual SOTU.

Biden’s attitude toward oil is incoherent. “Drill, baby, drill!” was the conservative solution to high energy prices during the Obama administration. The counterargument was that it wouldn’t make a difference for ten years.

Now Biden is saying, “Drill, baby drill!” but you have to stop in ten years. (Fracking has changed the equation, but consider: the Prudhoe Bay oil field in Alaska has been operating for almost fifty years.)

Imagine the Federal government banned grocery stores in a decade-all food would be delivered to your house. The food distribution system runs from Costco (Prudhoe Bay) to your local grocery store to minimarts (fracking). At best, minimarts will show up in strip malls. It takes years to permit and build a modest sized grocery store-why invest the money?

Why invest in a rig in the Gulf of Mexico when the government tells you its only value in a decade will be as a reef?

Not sure how you can tell that from reading a speech "as prepared for delivery." Maybe he appeared in full control of his senses. Maybe he didn't. Isn't that important to know? And then there is body language, jeers from the other side etc. And lots of time poeple go off script and that is the most importnt part. You act like you are somehow superior to those who watched the speech.

(As for me, I didn't watch it because I wanted to see Lebron James break the record.)

Maybe reading remarks “as prepared for delivery” can diverge from what actually was said, creating a less-than-realistic impression.
BTW, James Bond Stockdale is famous for that remark in the YouTube that broached his qualifications to be Perot’s VP candidate. A Navy A-4 pilot, he held a graduate degree in Philosophy from Stanford, where he concentrated on the Stoic writings of Epictetus that he credited with helping him get through captivity. LOL, too easy:

Biden: "inflation is coming down. Gas prices are coming down, food prices are coming down. Inflation has fallen every month for the last six months, while take-home pay has gone up."

He mostly emptied our reserve of petroleum, this is like the local warlord telling his people that their bellies are full, don't complain, after he fed them the seed corn. He did this while fighting with Russia, which is a huge producer of oil and gas. The only reason that prices haven't spiked from the war even more is that the sanctions against Russian oil are pretend sanctions, Russia is selling more oil than before the war, to third countries, who are "blending" it and selling it to us.

He relies on faked up numbers from the BLS to claim that our lying eyes are wrong about the economy, while at the same time the slow economy suppresses the price of gas, too.

Only an imbecile with the intellect of a woodchuck could take this stuff seriously. The press knows it's all lies, but they also know that their job is to "comfort the comfortable, and afflict the afflicted," that's how they keep jobs that pay salaries they could never otherwise earn, that's how they stay among the "comfortable."

I didn’t watch this Biden BullS**t Show (with a capital B and S) last night - as I stated yesterday, I actually was reading my history book listening to music when the SOTU took place. Biden got heckled when mentioning Fentanyl, specifically on his plans for testing for evidence on the drug and treatment of addicts based on the clip of him speaking that I saw this morning. My first thoughts are that he is more concerned for the drug addicts having safe access to illicit drugs and Narcan availability for OD’s than he is in STOPPING the drug from flowing across the border, which is why he was heckled. This is a flimsy band-aid approach to what has become a mass murder project of the Mexican drug cartels and the Chinese government. The only surefire approach to slowing down this drug flow is to close the border and prevent illegal immigrants from crossing, whether they are asking for asylum or not.

I am frustrated as to why this president, his Secretary of Homeland Security, and all of his top administration staff absolutely refuse to even give the American citizens any reason, good or not, why they are allowing this flow of humanity and illicit drugs cross our border unfettered EVERYDAY, 24/7/365. They are duty bound to do this. I recall he and his administration officials swore an oath to protect this country. They have definitely violated their oath of office. The Dems in Congress who are protecting Biden and his administration will probably apologize for this AFTER it is too late to do anything about it.

(October-December 2019)- 100.04
(January-March 2020)- $93.33
(April-June 2020)- $88.65
(July-September 2020)- $92.54
(October-December 2020)- $101.11
(January-March 2021)- $102.56
(April-June 2021)- $105.84
(July-September 2021)- 109.32
(October-December 2021)- $113.93
(January-March 2022)- $119.34
(April-June 2022)- $125.59
(July-September 2022)- $130.22
(October-December 2022)- $136.02
And so far in the first 5 weeks of 2023, running at $143.00/week. And, this is with me substituting generics for pretty much everything over the last couple of years now (Great Value TP instead of Charmin etc). If I bought exactly the same brands of items as I did in 2019, the weekly bill would likely be over $160-170/week easily. Just today, I paid $7 for a bottle of shampoo that cost me under $3.50 just 2 years ago. Biden and his fellatrices can brag all they want, but the above is the reality of the Biden economy, and even his supporters know this.

His kids didn't get The Talk, they got a Senator Biden card to pull out.

I dislike it when these speeches use people in the audience as propaganda props. His use of Paul Pelosi at the end is particularly bad here.

"Biden made a series of questionable statements like claiming that he added 12 million new jobs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Biden has only added 2.7 million overall jobs." - Jonathan Turley "

Turley has conveniently forgotten about the Trump pandemic and the jobs lost due to Trump's incompetence. In his world, restoration of those jobs doesn't count.

Admiral James Stockdale. Great American.

Stealing from Dennis Miller's 1992 standup act on video...."Dan Quayle's head is emptier than a Jack in the Box in downtown Seattle (there had been some poisonings). Al Gore a charismatic visionary...his favorite movie is Tron for Christ sakes!".

He would have been a better VP than those other 2 jokers.

Miller one more time,"The reason he had to turn his hearing aide on in the debate was because those fucking gooks knocked his eardrums out when he wouldn't spill his guts. He was a thoughtful, courageous individual. He was the first guy in and the last guy out of a war that many Americans, including our new president, choose not to dirty their hands with".

Might have butchered the above, but all from memory.

He deserves more than being a punchline in history. Shame.

It was Fauci's pandemic, liar Muttman, he funded it, he mismanaged it, and he killed people with both the virus and the "cure," and he continues to get rich and lie about it.
