For long time hockey fans, the Golden Jet has died at 84 years old. That would be Hall of Famer Bobby Hull of the Chicago Blackhawks. He didn't invent the slapshot, but he perfected it. Terrifying defenders and goaltenders alike. The AP ran an obituary/ story on him in today's Pittsburgh Tribune Review. Included in the otherwise obligatory article was this:
"Hull was convicted of assaulting a police officer who intervened in a dispute with then-wife Deborah in 1986. He also was accused of battery, but that charge was dropped after Deborah told authorities she didn’t want to testify against her husband, a state attorney told the Chicago Tribune.
Hull’s second wife, Joanne, accused him of abuse during an interview with ESPN for a 2002 show.
A Russian newspaper reported in 1998 that Hull said Adolf Hitler “had some good ideas.” Hull denied making the comment, calling it “false and defamatory.”

PBS broadcasting a documentary about Black photographer and FBI informant Ernest Withers, who I knew and worked with in his later years--before other people I knew and worked with cracked the code and fingered him as a long-mysterious government source in the civil rights movement.
He had been one of the first (uniformed) Black cops hired in Memphis in 1948, but wasn't on the force for many years. He told me about the way the redneck White cops would hold 'alley court' and punish miscreants or the just plain unlucky; at first the black cops wore different uniforms and were only to patrol particular areas, and were allowed only to detain whites, not arrest them. That was stupid and dropped quickly.
The impetus for the hiring at that moment was the brutal beating of a young Black veteran in his own yard by two white cops, not to mention two others raping a couple of Black teenagers waiting for a bus to their jobs. The Crump Machine backed the measure in hope of getting some support in the '48 elections, but it didn't help enough if at all.
Withers said that their Memphis Police trainer--whose name I have forgotten but have somewhere in my notes--had established(?) or trained the Philippine Constabulary and "laid his hands on us in the finest way."
It will be interesting to see how the story is presented--I'll catch the show later, having other plans tonight.
Good thing some blac on blac crime pushed aside that pesky Veritas scoop.

I think the Surgeon General said 16 years old minimum to be on social media. Jonathan Haidt is saying 12 yr. Old minimum in an upcoming book on the impact of social media on our youth. My wife said “good luck with that”!

In the offices of election officials in AZ, a "heat map" was posted on the wall which indicated where Republicans voted most heavily. If you overlayed that may with a map of the voting equipment problems in Maricopa County, you get an amazing fit. When some election officials balked at certifying the elections, they were threatened with prosecution and jail time.
in PA, heavily Republican precincts ran out of ballots and many thousands of voters were turned away.
Obviously, the conclusion to be drawn is that Trump should be in jail. I think that would be a good thing. Show that the entire edifice is rotten to the core.
