According to the new he USA Today/Suffolk University, reported at the NY Post.
I know you Trumpsters are brooding and scoffing about the so-called "Republican-leaning independents" who are diluting these numbers. Call me when you have the numbers on actual Republicans. Right? That's what you're thinking, isn't it?
Anyway, the poll also has Trump lagging 7 points behind Biden and DeSantis 4 points ahead of Biden.

Ann, you seem pretty quick to understand what the rest of us are thinking. I guess living in Madison for many years gives you some sort of left wing clairvoyance.
All those RINOs got tired of all the winning, I guess.
I am going to vote for whoever will mercilessly attack, antagonize, and victimize the leaders and forces working daily to cut my sons dicks off. Thus far the person with the better track record of doing that is Desantis, but Trump works fine too.
If the Dark Lord Sauron himself was running on a platform that protected my children from penis-chopping forces with the slogan "No Dicks for Dick-Choppers!", he gets my vote. I will do whatever is necessary to hurt and harm those people, including break the law. W.A.R.
Makes no difference. Democrats will start a false flag incident or create some excuse for suspending the 2024 elections. Another pandemic. An economic collapse. Another war. The cosmopolitan elite never intend to let go of their power and positions. 2020 was the "autogolpe." The 2020 and 2022 elections were warmups.
Oh Ann you are so clueless — one does not simply abandon the Orange God despite So Much Losing.
The Lost Cause is forever.
I blame this on Trump himself. His candidates experienced mixed outcomes in 2022, plus he came up with a reaaaaaaaaaaaaly bad campaign starter and theme for 2024: "America's Golden Age is just ahead." That would be bland and forgettable under any circumstances, but he's also known for gold as commercial branding. Is he running for President or marketing this businesses? See Trump Tower's golden lobby and his Oval Office golden curtains.
Leading two years into the future calls for adaptation to an emerging and yet unknown world order. But, Trump locked himself into his golden theme a full year before he could read actual election cycle politics of 2023 and 2024. His talking points will be terribly stale and old-hat at the time when he needs novelty to influence voters. Trump's strategy worked in 2016 but faltered in 2020 with the arrival of COVID -- he got stuck on the good old times of 2017 to 2019 even then and failed to adapt.
Next, add in establishment right wing hatred of him and the left wing mental meltdowns if he's the nominee. Groundhog day again. All politicians over age 70 should retire.
I might be wrong, of course. But I think Trump will not win the R nomination and will run as 3rd party to spite the victor of the R primaries.
Kim R, IA gov, will be on the R ticket - slot 2 or slot 1.
The ever Trumper theme song:
But I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
DeSantis isn't better than Trump unfortunately. DeSantis will just give you a different deep state with friendly accommodation to what's too strong to safely oppose.
Trump made a friend of N Korea. Not in the DeSantis repertoire.
Democrats will start a false flag incident or create some excuse for suspending the 2024 elections.
When you’ve got the Hebrew Space Lasers you can do pretty much anything you want.
This is all moot. Trump will be in indicted in 2023.
Just Don and Ron? A repeat of Dems in 2016? No fun.
"America's Golden Age is just ahead."
It's a better slogan than what the other side has, which seems to be "Vote For Us And We'll Destroy Everything You Love, You Filthy Racist Pigs!"
Actually, I’m thinking this is way too early to care.
@Althouse, be careful what you wish for. What will you do if President Ron DeSantis is even less accommodating to your feminist principles than President Trump has been?
I’ll reiterate my position that with two years to work with, the newsmedia will attack the character and records of both candidates. With Hurricane Ian the National Weather Service misguessed the point of landfall by hundreds of miles. This being the Biden administration, it’s fair to ask what if next time it’s deliberate?
At this point, is there really any enthusiasm for anybody in politics in either party?
Earnest Prole: "Oh Ann you are so clueless — one does not simply abandon the Orange God despite So Much Losing.
The Lost Cause is forever."
Speaking of "winning", did you happen to catch your GOPe hero Raffensberger come out forcefully in support of ranked choice voting and the Murkowski-ization of GA?
Needless to say this would guarantee Team Dem/GOPe would never lose again in GA, which is the entire point, isnt it?
Dave Begley: "This is all moot. Trump will be in indicted in 2023."
This clear to all sane political observers, however HBTPFH is quite adament the legacy media, dems in general and the corrupted deep state will be treating Trump with kid gloves to usher him into the general election.
They can't get rid of the Frankenstein monster who turned out to be quite the loser. If righties don't nominate trump he'll take his ball, tear up the court and go home with his base=lose again. If they nominate trump =lose again. No platform no issues for the American people except get Fauci, get the laptop, nothing on crime, immigration, inflation, losing points for the right as the midterms showed they had nothing, but the BIG LIE trump won, folks here still believe trump is president, yes really. Margorie Taylor Green in control of the House, ain't that a pip, spineless McCarthy begging like a dog for votes. Worst midterms for Republicans in decades because of the nonsense horrible candidates Lake (trump in a dress) Bolduc, Oz, Mastriano, Walker, Masters even Moscow Mitch called it. The monster either loses flat out or pulls the plug tells his trumpeters to stay home and they lose anyway. Great campaign running for the former guy huh? It's all a grift to get the $$$ and he actually believes he won't get indicted because he is a candidate. WRONG It will be popcorn time watching the House debacle in a month for Speaker, stay tuned it will just get worse. They did release the KRACKEN, and he is pissed.
If DeSantis runs, I think he will defeat Trump, but it won't matter in the end- no Republican is going to win in 2024, I don't care how much more badly Biden screws the pooch. The Democrats have an electoral lock now with mail-in-voting.
The Constitution comment flipped many people I know who still loved Trump. It's going to be DeSantis.
LaSeñora agrees with MindYourOwnBusiness at 3:39. Democrats will find a way to cancel the 2024 election. She's gotten very cynical.
If not, they will cheat their way into the WH. They cannot afford to have a Republican AG.
If not, it is unlikely that any Republican but Trump can afford the legal fees from Democrat lawfare attacks.
Having said that, it would be fun to have DeSantis in the WH.
I like presidents who don’t have son in laws
Anyway, the poll also has Trump lagging 7 points behind Biden and DeSantis 4 points ahead of Biden.
The Poll!! The Poll you knuckle dragging Trumpsters!! The poll!!
Behold the poll!!
Once again a reminder: Independent voters do not like Trump. Why is that important? Independent voters decide who the winner is going to be. Trump is the only candidate who can lose to Joe Biden twice. I sincerely hope that the scales will fall from the eyes of many who cling hopelessly to Trump as the reality of the next election nears. Trump in 2024 will be as despised as Hillary in 2016.
Trump without a campaign manager probably would not have won the nomination in 2016 either.
"Trump will not win the R nomination and will run as 3rd party to spite the victor of the R primaries."
That's the best prediction I've seen here. Donald Trump and the Republican party have a hate-hate relationship, and while Trump cares about the country, he cares even more about Trump.
That poll seems about right. Most of my Trumper friends prefer DeSantis, rightly understanding that Trump cannot win. But of course neither can DeSantis (or any other fill in the blank Republican) given that Trump will run third party. And the Trump cultists, most of whom are Republicans of a rather immature vintage, will blame DeSantis (or fill in blank) since EVERYONE but Trump is a RINO. It is all so funny.
""While 31% of Republican and Republican-leaning independents want Trump... 61% say they would rather have DeSantis...""
Trump can't win a poll of USA today reading (dem..) Republcians and Republican-leaning independents.
I am shocked.
First if you believe any poll or really anything from USA Today you are just a gullible idiot.
Second Republicans don't participate in democrat propaganda polls.
I want Desantis to win too. But he will not win unless he attacks the Uniparty more effectively than Trump does.
It has nothing to do with Republicans and Democrats at this point. You are just living in your stupid little media bubble. You can post your cut and paste propaganda links and pretend you have some deep understanding of "Republicans."
Millions of people in the working and middle class have been shut out of politics.
Trump is the nicest thing they will vote for right now.
Desantis is going to ditch the DC consultants he has hired and call for the removal of McConnell and the GOPe traitors or he is going to lose.
1. Are you tired of Trump?
2. Are you tired of the insane caterwauling against Trump?
My response: Yes. I am tired of all the bullshit and I want a new warrior against the Leftist mind rot.
Winning elections, for quite a few, has ceased to be the point. The point for them has now become... some sort of purity of conviction that apparently provides genuine emotional rewards.
I wonder how long we can survive with such low quality leaders. Given our nation's execrable leadership in both the public and private spheres, the only thing that keeps the US at the forefront is the fact that our international competition is even more feckless and dishonest than we are.
When you’ve got the Hebrew Space Lasers you can do pretty much anything you want.

Thank fucking Christ for this. He was an irreplaceable breath of fresh air. He exposed the utter corruption like no one else could have at that moment. Now he is old and his many flaws have come into bright relief. He really needs to move on, as they like to say.
Mike Petrik: "And the Trump cultists, most of whom are Republicans of a rather immature vintage, will blame DeSantis (or fill in blank) since EVERYONE but Trump is a RINO."
Flawed assumptions lead to flawed conclusions.

Shhh!
The Ronna Romney-McDaniel fans think its still 1988.
Two thoughts...
1. For someone who supposedly has no chance of winning, an awful lot of people are spending their time obsessing over another Trump presidential run.
2."Trumpsters"? Why no nicknames for Biden supporters? How about "Bidenholes"?

I would agree with that.
Given the advanced age of current politicians, we don't even know who will still be alive then.
The good news for the GOPe-ers is that Billionaire Ken Griffen remains at about #40 on the Rich list (Approx $32B) and remember, he is one of the largest DeSantis donors along with all his globalist pals.
You'll recall Griffen gave an interview to Politico just a week or 2 ago where he patiently explained that he didn't care about the social issues stuff at all and he wanted the Republican party to get back on the globalist track and ditch the America First/Economic Nationalism policies...which are basically supported by the vast majority of the republican base.
I'm sure DeSantis will have the intestinal fortitude to defy his entire GOPe campaign staff and donor base to deliver on those economic/foreign affairs policies that will help the republican base..............(wink wink)

This. Many countries are poorly governed, but it is hard to imagine a first-world nation "led" by such unspeakably stupid people as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. I suppose we should be thankful that neither of them is actually responsible for anything other than reading somebody else's words on a teleprompter.
Of course, we can trust USA Today and the MSM to give us accuarate polls about trump.
LOL. Did Trump lose to Biden by 4 points in 2020? Is Biden more popular now?
And how well Trump does in Jan 2024 primaries will be decided in Jan 2024. Why are all the Trump haters trying to get us to ditch Trump as "Unelectable" ? Its a mystery.
You know who was "electable" in 1976? Fod
And Dole was "Eleectable" and also McCain. And Romney. And Yeb!.
And Reagan was supposed to lose in 1980. He was a "Rightwing extremist". And Trump in 2016. He was a racist/bigot/homophobe.
It would be nice if enough Republicans could get together and choose DeSantis. But I never imagined Trump would be chosen in 2016, and he has much more support now than then. Dunno.
Look, it's pretty simple. Donald Trump was a Democrat his whole life. Barack Obama goaded him into running in 2016 with that WHCA dinner bit. And he did, just to show Obama that even he could win the Presidency if he wanted, so it wasn't that big of a deal that Obama won, even though he isn't even an American and the Dems were able to run this scam on the American people.
Trump served his purpose, which was to trivialize the Presidency. He had an opportunity to salvage his term, but he squandered it by allowing Hillary Clinton to remain free. He jails her, and he's President for life.
He had his chance. Didn't take the shot. Wussied out. Wimp.
People want a STRONG HORSE. Not a weak horse.
I would rather have Trump, for the reasons Rh mentions above.
But if we can't have Trump, I'll take whoever is available over the fettermanesque president we got.

You choose to call them cultists and immature.
Go look in a mirror.
Achilles is right, above.
GOP voters, not GOPe, won't back DeSantis as much as DeSantis polls unless he's against GOPe McConnell & the anti-Trump Reps.
Yeah, I'm tired of Trump - but still outraged at the injustices done and still being done to him.
Any election not 100% free and fair is ... not fair ... thus stolen. Dem and GOPe Deep State agents did illegal acts to steal the election against Trump.
All Reps should be screaming this, every press conference.
More "good" GOPe news: Big Tech is fully behind the Tillis-Sinema Amnesty bill being supported by Team McConnell.
Its quite easy to see that its important to get as many GOPe/Dem wins in the bank before the republicans take over the house and McCarthy has to start pretending to support policies the republican base wants.
"Desantis is going to ditch the DC consultants he has hired and call for the removal of McConnell and the GOPe traitors or he is going to lose."
Achilles is absolutely right.
Those millions of committed voters you sneer at as "Trumpers" will not vote for anyone they think is going to sell them out. AGAIN. But if the candidate can show them that he is committed to what they are looking for, they will vote for that candidate.
Which means that they are not going to vote for anyone playing footsie with the DC establishment.
This may seem juvenile and defeatist to the establishment Republican folks--"what--and let the Democrats win?" but those are the facts of life. And remember--the establishment Republican types were perfectly and publicly willing to have Hillary Clinton become President to prevent Trump from doing so. (National Review, anyone?)
If you're going to be screwed by the establishment, you can at least take some satisfaction in not voting for the people who are screwing you.
The Republican Party ought to acknowledge that they played the DC game too long, and are willing to change. If they don't--no sale.
Those are the facts of life.
You can belittle the people who feel this way all you want. It ain't going to change the way things are.
“I know you Trumpsters are brooding and scoffing . . . “
I’ve never met any brooding Trumpsters (unless you mean the pregnant ones). The brooders and the scoffers - as indicated by the above comments - seem to be the DeSantis supporters. You guys think you’ve got such a great candidate. You’ve got a poll here that touts your point of view - lighten up already. Try graciousness, try some magnanimity. It’s an indication to me, that in your heart of hearts you know it’s gonna be Trump 2024.
McConnell is pushing through a spending bill right now to help Chuck Schumer, and to obviate the incoming Republican House majority. This is why voting is pointless.
yeah, polls

If the Dems want a Trump-Biden re-match, they will get it.
If Trump isn't the nominee, I plan to sit out the election. To hell with DeSantis. The GOP isn't owed my vote.
Achilles would like to insult everyone for not keeping the blind faith that Trump is really more popular that ever.
Ever-Trumpers would like to remind you that if a member of the GOP is a fraud - that somehow makes Trump desirable again.
Ampersand: "Winning elections, for quite a few, has ceased to be the point. The point for them has now become... some sort of purity of conviction that apparently provides genuine emotional rewards."
I would like to see a candidate and party leadership team that actually represents the interests of the republican base voters which I believe are also in the best interest of the nation.
That is now considered an outrageous and impossible and ludicrous proposition.....by the republican party leadership only. The democraticals leadership has no difficulty representing their base.
It's amazing how many in the republican base, not the majority but a significant chunk, having been beaten down culturally for years, will now simply accept without complaint whatever these uniparty types shoves down their throats in the desperate hope that some little crumb might be tossed their way.
Mitch McConnell can literally spend millions on campaigns that attack the republican candidates in states across the nation and the usual suspects will simply bend over and say "thank you, may I have another".
I think DeSantis lacks cross-over appeal. Examples of politicians who have cross-over appeal are Donald Trump, Kyrsten Sinema, and Tulsi Gabbard. DeSantis will have a tough time opposing the corrupt DNC when he himself is a GOPe insider. He reminds me of a higher energy JEB. The Uniparty wants the next election to be entirely Uniparty--no outside interlopers. This is the worst thing for the country.

The GOP expects the base to turn out and vote, but then works to deny the base any seat at the table. As long as that continues, there's going to be a significant "fuck you" element that buoys support for Trump and others like him.
Yancey - you could be right, and probably are - but we might as well go out with a bang.
Trump will offer a whine.

Exactly. Trump's ego trumps all.
And remember--the establishment Republican types were perfectly and publicly willing to have Hillary Clinton become President to prevent Trump from doing so. (National Review, anyone?)
Election after election we were told that, after the primaries, we had to rally around the nominee. W. McCain. Romney. It was always, "the fight is over and we have to work to stop the Dems." And if you didn't like the nominee? Well, do the hard work to get your candidate picked instead.
But then came Trump, and all of a sudden that was out the window.
To hell with the GOP.

If Desantis runs on border security, reducing taxes below the level of tariffs on Chinese/Mexican goods, reduced regulations on US manufacturing, and ending DC corruption in Ukraine and the rest of the world, and commits to removing the GOPe traitors like McConnell, Doucey, Vos, Kemp et. al I will support him.
If Desantis continues to run as Mitt Romney 2.0 with massive corporate support and accepting the endorsements of McConnell and Ryan and the other people who kept Obamacare when we had a chance to remove it he can get stuffed.
Yes. I am tired of all the bullshit and I want a new warrior...
And you think the left won't do the same to DeSantis? DeSantis looks good because he is governing an area of the country where he has overwhelming support. He won't have that on a national level. Palin had an 80% approval rating in AK when she was put on the ticket with McCain. Not making a direct comparison, just sayin'.
Policy, party, and personality. I've never been a fan of Trump's personality, but I've never seen a President who's policy I agreed with more. I understand the electability issue so many here are concerned with. You can't institute policy if you aren't elected. But if one of the other 2016 Republican candidates had gotten the nomination and defeated Hillary (doubtful imo) would the left be getting the pushback it is right now? Would Musk have bought twitter? Would...etc?
I'm not ready to throw Trump under the bus because he is hated by the left or some Republicans are tired of the battle. I want his intuitive/common sense policies back in play, and I'm not convinced DeSantis is capable of that.
Everyone seems to think DeSantis is going to run in 2024. I think he'd be an idiot to do that. If he waits til '28 he gets all the Trump votes without having to do battle with the Donald. I will certainly vote for DeSantis if he runs and gets the nomination, but I'd vote for Cheney before I'd vote for anyone the Dems are likely to put up.
I don’t see that Donald Trump has quite grasped how badly the results of the 2022 election reflect on his political acumen, and him in particular. The GOP lost very, very winnable races in Arizona, Georgia, and, especially, Pennsylvania. These were high profile races and the losing candidates would probably not have been nominated without Trump’s endorsement and his support in the primary. If Trump had never gotten involved in the primary process, would those races have gone to Kelly, the wife-beating slumlord Warnock, or the execrable racist Fetterman had Trump not been involved in the primary process? Kelly, perhaps. The other two, probably not. And the Senate would be 52-48, and a check on Joe Biden.
Worse, Democrats were able to run against Donald Trump, and this contributed to their wins. Republicans did not nationalize the election, and candidates were not able to run against Biden and his economic policies. This is on Mitch McConnell, Rick Scott, Kevin McCarthy, Tom Emmer, and, especially, Ronna McDaniel.
It’s important to get rid of the terrible economic policies of Joe Biden, but that cannot be done without winning in 2024.
“That poll seems about right. Most of my Trumper friends prefer DeSantis, rightly understanding that Trump cannot win. I’d vote for either in a heartbeat. But when DeSantis fights, he seems to fight smarter. Today he announced that he was, essentially, going after the vaccine manufacturers for violating Florida’s false advertising laws for drugs. They don’t prevent infection by the virus, and they aren’t safe. Of course, they violate false advertising laws. No one on the left can afford this going to trial. Can they get it dumped on Supremacy grounds? After all, the companies went through pro forma approval processes. But FL isn’t suing on whether the drugs can be legally dispensed, but rather on false advertising grounds.
My problem is that the Swamp had Trump running in circles his entire term of office. What makes anyone think that this second time around would be any better? A bunch of government bureaucrats need to be at least fired, and preferably locked up. Right now, I trust DeSantis more than Trump to do it.
I'm tired of losing. DeSantis for the win.
Eva Marie: "It’s an indication to me, that in your heart of hearts you know it’s gonna be Trump 2024."
I believe there is zero chance Trump is even able to compete given what the combined dems/GOPe/DeepStaters have in store for him and his family.

@Althouse, I get that it’s all one big game to you. You got yours, after all. The stakes may be a bit higher for a poor family deciding whether they can afford to put toys for their kids under the Christmas tree thanks to Biden’s inflation. Enough voters have demonstrated that they would never vote for Trump to make his new candidacy look like a losing one. Also, he isn't making the changes that could enable him to improve his vote share.
I'll vote for DeSantis if he's the nominee, but without any real enthusiasm. I wasn't enthusiastic about Trump in 2016 either. I was enthusiastic in 2020. Trump did a fantastic job, but not enough people saw it that way. Trump has to convince enough people to vote for him that the election is more than a squeaker -- because we know what will happen if it's close -- and Trump can't do that.
DeSantis isn't Jeb Bush, but he does look too much like politics as usual to a lot of people, and looking at Biden and Harris, politics as usual is no longer a guarantee of competence or managerial skill (DeSantis was a competent governor, not just another idiot senator, so maybe there's some hope there). There's also a feeling that all the National Review conservatives we thought Trump had marginalized will be coming back and lording it over the party and the country and the world.
DeSantis will get bogged down in all the Washington infighting, but that's pretty much a given nowadays. He would be better than any Democrat would be.
I think we are seeing the end of elections in this country. The Arizona election was an illustration of what is coming. That isn't fighting smarter. Those companies have an army of lawyers and will ensure that it goes nowhere. DeSantis is simply posturing for the cameras.
Another "win" for team GOPe/Dem on the omnibus budget bill.
The McConnell-tards load up on the dems wishes and lock it in before the GOP takes control in Jan, after which it would have been much more difficult for the GOPe-ers to play "Failure Theater" for the base.
At this rate, McConnell will have delivered on every dem policy preference for the '23/'24 congressional session before the end of 2022!
Congratulations GOPe-ers and dems, but I repeat myself.

Gadfly - Start by being honest. You are not honest.
#1 DeSantis is governor of a state. He has the right to act as a Governor. His tweet/announcement - has nothing to do with a presidential run. Because he is a strong popular governor of a large state - he gets a lot of attention.
Also - New date is showing that the vaccine is harming people. You know this, right?
His tweet:
"In Florida, it is against the law to mislead and misrepresent the efficacy of a drug.
So, today, I’m announcing a petition to the Supreme Court of Florida to impanel a statewide grand jury to investigate any wrongdoing with respect to the COVID-19 vaccines."
GAdfly - Care to show us the data on how you know that more R's died than D's in FL - & why that would matter?
COVID vaccines may be harming our young
"Significant studies and scientific findings have come out over the past few weeks, all not getting the appropriate airing that we deserve from news media. They have to do with the possible harmful effects of COVID vaccines.
The most significant is a study coming from Oxford, Washington, Toronto, Harvard, and John Hopkins Universities, which looked at 18-29-year olds boosted with an mRNA vaccine. And what they found was this: “Using CDC and sponsor-reported adverse event data, we find that booster mandates may cause a net expected harm: per COVID-19 hospitalization prevented in previously uninfected young adults, we anticipate 18 to 98 serious adverse events, including 1.7 to 3.0 booster-associated myocarditis cases in males, and 1,373 to 3,234 cases of grade ≥3 reactogenicity which interferes with daily activities.”
To put it another way: for those below 30 years old, vaccines are more harmful than COVID by a factor of 18-98%."
LOL - no, actually, Ann, my first thought was "USA Today??? HAHAHAHA! Don't really have a dog in the fight but don't believe a word printed in USA Today!
Humper Twin #1 - blah blah blah GOPe is horrible McConnell-Romeny. You all suck because only Trump can save us from McConnell Romney.
Plus more exciting and endless bitching about McConnell-Romney. No comment from Ever-Trumper twins on the topic of this thread. Trump's support is swirling down the toilet. oh no - It's McConnell Romney.
Did he say McConnell-Romney? Again? Endless McConnell Romney. What else is there but... McConnell Romney.
McConnell Romney! GOPe... But Trump Humper repeats himself.

12/13/22, 7:05 PM
No one on Wall Street can afford this going to trial. But the "megadonors" are not worried. Because if this was remotely sincere, Ron DeSantis would have run on it during his re-election campaign, or even done something about it during his first term. This is just DeStandin':
1) Declare a grand legal battle to much fanfare
2) Enjoy boosted poll numbers from Conservative Inc.
3) Quietly let things drop when a judge finds the plan unconstitutional, or schedule redress so far in the future he won't be dealing with the legal challenges. For instance, the Reddy Creek debacle isn't going to start taking effect until well into 2023.
I would gladly vote for Trump in 2024, but I really hope he doesn't run. He's simply too old. If the Founding Fathers had foreseen the possibility of a President Biden, they would have placed an upper age limit on the presidency too.
I have no real beef with De Santis, but something about him just bugs me. I'd vote for him against any Democrat.
I'd love to vote for James Wood, but again he's too old.
I'd love to vote for a Ronald Reagan type, but I don't see one out there.
I had hopes about Keri Lake... maybe if she wins her lawsuit?
Trump's support is swirling down the toilet.
And it has nothing to do with the Democratic Party, GOPe, deep state and the MSM all lying about him and hamstringing him ever since he announced he would run as a Republican... right?
I'm so old I remember when Trump was the darling of the Democratic Party and the MSM. He used to get awards from the NAACP for his support of the civil rights movement.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. DeSantis is more valuable to me as my Governor than anything that happens at the federal level, because the federal govt is a lost cause at this point. If it's DeSantis vs Trump, I'll vote for Trump just to keep DeSantis. Neither one of them will ever be allowed to be POTUS anyway.
I don’t see that Donald Trump has quite grasped how badly the results of the 2022 election reflect on his political acumen
He who cannot even see his own massive fuck-ups cannot learn from his massive fuck-ups.

Hunter..Hooker,
Make your case for Turtle/Romney
The thing that pisses me off about those that once enthusiastically supported Trump and now are less than pleased with him is that you fell for it. You are reacting to Trump exactly the way they want you to react. They trashed Trump and persecuted him in every way possible, by every means possible, because they feared him. And now they have made you exhausted by 7 years of these attacks, and they are letting you know that they still intend to put him in prison. You admit defeat, shrug, and wonder if they'll treat the next guy any differently. You have submitted, and the only choices you now have now are Romney. Hogan. Cheney. Kinzinger.
HBTPFH: "Humper Twin #1 - blah blah blah GOPe is horrible McConnell-Romeny. You all suck because only Trump can save us from McConnell Romney."
Once again, as always, an argument no one has made.
You are perfectly paired with your biggest boosters here, Howard and Inga.
HBTPFH: "Gadfly - Start by being honest. You are not honest."
Then he and you should get along famously or, at the least, as well as you, Howard and Inga.
You could be like the Four Musketeers of The GOPe/Dem Team.
The United States as we knew it is done. Stick a fork in it. What can't go on won't.
In the modern phrase: throw another baby... fetal-baby on the barbie, it's over, as Schumer, in dark sarcasm, laments our progressive viability.
Funny, that anybody thinks ANY Republican is ever going to win again, when the People in Power do NOTHING about voter fraud. Too bad the Rinos caved and let the Progressives get away with it. AGAIN.

You guys think you’ve got such a great candidate. You’ve got a poll here that touts your point of view - lighten up already. Try graciousness, try some magnanimity. It’s an indication to me, that in your heart of hearts you know it’s gonna be Trump 2024.

I have, and will continue, to defend Trump against the left's non-stop lies. The worst of those lies being the Russia Russian LIE. (A lie manufactured in part by Hillary, the real Russian asset)
I will always defend Trump against the corrupt liar left and their lying lies.
Also true - Trump walked into most of it. Trump surrounded himself with the wrong people. Trump is increasingly paranoid and treats even his ardent supporters with that unease (see Candace Owens.) Trump is clumsy and steps on his own dick - all the time. Dinner with YE and Fuentes? The campaign ads write themselves. Are we to ignore that? Why? His errors are not leadership, folks. Add to that the tired word salad and the fact that he is too old. Yes - the left destroyed him. HE never should have let it happen. His supporters have tuned him into a deity... A golden cow, where all of Trump's errors and bad moves are part of the show. It is tired.
Bruce H-
"the Swamp had Trump running in circles his entire term of office. What makes anyone think that this second time around would be any better?"
Indeed - an older Trump who is now making embarrassing moves that will do more to harm him - than anything the D's can come up with.
" You have submitted, and the only choices you now have now are Romney. Hogan. Cheney. Kinzinger."
They are?
@Mr Wibble "If Trump isn't the nominee, I plan to sit out the election. To hell with DeSantis. The GOP isn't owed my vote." I have zero comprehension of this point of view. DeSantis is effective. Trump was effective for a while, he isn't any more. He folded at the end of his term, went down a Kraken rabbit-hole and disappeared. To me it's unforgiveable. They told him they'd vote for impeachment if he pardoned Assange, so he wilted and went away. Anyone who is still listening to him, has stopped listening.
“ Indeed - an older Trump who is now making embarrassing moves that will do more to harm him - than anything the D's can come up with.”
Are you f/king kidding me right now?
It’s great you’ve moved on from Trump, Hooker. Yet, you bash him on every turn- when someone still supports him.
To each his own.
Trump will be convicted of some trumped up charge and prevented from running again. He will then endorse Haley who
will win the Presidency and bring back Trump’s policy’s without the vitriol.
Trump and his blind faith hangers-on are very... Sanctimonious.
btw- Who will Trump pick to be his running mate?
Still waiting for the Ever-Trumper set to lay it on the line. A list? Some guesses? hopes?
"I don’t see that Donald Trump has quite grasped how badly the results of the 2022 election reflect on his political acumen"
Republicans got five million more votes than the Democrats. Two of the seats, PA and AZ, at a minimum, were won based on openly suppressing Republican voters, not enough ballots in Republican precincts, in PA, an issue over which an election was just overturned in Germany, and somehow printer settings got fucked up overnight the day before the election in AZ, sending thousands of Republican voters home. Those printers could have easily been accessed over the internet and futzed around with.
What I see is another psy-op by Democrats that has sucked in a whole bunch of you to imagine that Trump doesn't bring in massive numbers of voters. That's the real reason Democrats are scared of him, it certainly isn't fear of WW3! \
Sorry, Mitch McConnell does not own my vote. If it's not Trump, I am sitting it out, because obviously our elections are meaningless.
Be sure to convince your sons and grandsons to join the armed forces to fight for Joe Biden's corrupt holdings. "Render unto Caesar" and all of that, but I am out.

HBTPFH: "The left cheat. How is Trump going to fix that?"
Its difficult to fix since the GOPe has been working with the democraticals to increase the corruption and "our" GOPe RNC "leader", Ronna Romney, refuses to fight back.
But thanks for asking.
HBTPFH: "btw- Who will Trump pick to be his running mate?
Still waiting for the Ever-Trumper set to lay it on the line. A list? Some guesses? hopes?"
As always, that question was already answered in this very thread.
Lets see if the McConnell-tard can figure it out this time.
HBTPFH: "I have, and will continue, to defend Trump against the left's non-stop lies."
LOL!
You literally asserted the Saudi's were funding the Trump campaign!
On this blog YOU have been a part of the non-stop lies...and I suspect that is not going to change.
HBTPFH: "The left cheat. How is Trump going to fix that? He didn't fix it before."
And, just to drive the last point home, its the RNC's job to fight the election fraud battles and Ronna Romney-McDaniel hasn't lifted a finger to help the republican base and conservatives fight that battle.
Because she isn't on their side.
And, HBTPFH once again proves that "Trump" will forever be the biggest excuse-mongering Perpetual GOPe-er Get Out Of Jail Free Card that has ever existed in American politics.
Has HBTPFH ever written a single thing critical of the RNC and how they have handled the rampant dems cheating?
No.
And he never will.
driverdonald: "Trump will be convicted of some trumped up charge and prevented from running again."
Agreed.
driverdonald: "He will then endorse Haley who will win the Presidency and bring back Trump’s policy’s without the vitriol."

Trump Humper twin #1 -
You are too cowardly to say who Trump's running-mate might be. Noted.
The Saudis are not funding the Trump family?
Well then - How Did Jared Kushner Get $2 Billion From the Saudis?
I don’t think Trump would run third party if he loses the GOP nomination. He doesn’t like losing and running third party is a sure loser. No, instead he will say that he was cheated by the globalists, the GOPes, the RINOs, the elite, who rigged the primaries and will rig the general election, and he will urge his supporters to sit out the general election.
4:59 - Farm guy - from the looks of the Ever-Trumper grinders - nope. It's Trump or bust.
Republicans helped Democrats sabotage Trump in 2020 and his candidates in 2022. Either Republicans clean house or I stay home in 2024. - Don Surber
The New York Post reported, "Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday cited former President Donald Trump’s endorsements in the 2022 midterm election primaries as the reason for “candidate quality” issues that resulted in several major defeats for the Republican Party last month."
A Democrat nutball who had a stroke had no problem winning.
Candidates don't matter. Party leadership does. McConnell turned his back on at least five Senate candidates merely because Trump backed them. - Don Surber.

(3) Understand the meaning of that four-letter word “work “

A pitch perfect Team GOPe/Dem response and it comes on the heels of McConnell handing the dems one policy win after another while the rest of the GOPe-ers defend the corrupted voting rules shoved thru by dems.
Thanks Douglas. I knew you would come thru for us.
BTW, any updates on those "pipebombers" (wink wink) that "threatened" the RNC and DNC the night before the Fed-surrection? How about those "weapons caches" near the Capital (LOL).
What are we up to now, 30 to 40 "undercover"/setup fed dudes in Trump gear at the capital on Jan 6 and pretty much the entire Proud Boys and Oath Keepers leadership being fed controlled?
Thats almost as good as the Whitmer Fednapping ploy.
McConnell-tard: "4:59 - Farm guy - from the looks of the Ever-Trumper grinders - nope. It's Trump or bust."
I do believe now that you've read the relevant posts which disprove your moronic post, but you are simply too stupid to understand them.
As they say, I could explain it further for you but unfortunately I cannot comprehend it for you.
And therein lies the problem.
Well then - How Did Jared Kushner Get $2 Billion From the Saudis?
This is easy to research. Asking the question with the overtones of corruption is something I would expect of one of our resident bubble dwellers. Readering, Feder, and Inga have all asked the same thing in the same disingenuous manner. If you want to bash Trump at least do it honestly. It makes me wonder about your bona fides.
HBTPFH: "The Saudis are not funding the Trump family?

Oooooooh, you are trying that little rhetorical trick again, aren't you?
You lied and said the Saudi's were funding the Trump campaign, and that's very different isn't it laddie?
Which is what I referenced.
Yes indeed, you, Inga and Howard make a solid GOPe/Dem team at Althouse.

HBTPFH is no different than his dem allies which is why the smears come easily to him.
Jared Kushner has already indicated he would not be a part of another potential Trump admin (which is good in my opinion) so the Saudi investment in the fund is obviously not a bribe, so just what is HBTPFH saying?
He has no idea, he's just lobbing things out there like a good little Team GOPe/Dem apparatchik.
EverTrumper Trump humper #1 - Again - you are too cowardly to say it yourself.
Who will be Trump's running mate?
If you are so sure it's here in this thread- why don't you say it again? or point to the date/time stamp. You won't - because you are full of shit.
Drago - that you cannot understand that people think differently than you - makes you very much in the mold of an authoritarian leftist.
pacwest - Talk to Ann Coulter. I'd expect a viable answer to explain the 2 billion dollars. I mean - Since the Trump family is so pro-working class and all that. I'm just being consistent. I would give a leftist a hard time too - for that kind of scratch.
According to Twin #1 - McConnell-Romney will be Trump's running mate in 2024.
Cool.
pacwest (to HBTPFH): "This is easy to research."
The most important thing to remember when conversing with HBTPFH is that he doesn't know anything.l, doesn't "research", doesn't understand the questions being asked and doesn't understand any answers provided.
And he is apparently proud of that which explains why he'll keep asking the same questions that have been answered over and over again like a trained parrot.
Will Trump Humpers admit they want Kari Lake to be Trump's running mate?
It seems like it is a big secret.
HBTPFH: "Drago - that you cannot understand that people think differently than you - makes you very much in the mold of an authoritarian leftist."

You have no idea what you are writing and its hilarious.
It appears obvious that you aren't faking this. You just aren't a very bright bulb.

Hunter Biden's tax payer funded Hooker said...4:59 - Farm guy - from the looks of the Ever-Trumper grinders - nope. It's Trump or bust.
Not true. It doesn't have to be Trump. But it just can't be the corrupt GOPe that Trump exposed. At this point in time, DeSantis sounds too much like a higher energy JEB. It may be impossible to not be beholden to monied interests. But that was what was so refreshing about Trump.
“If he is not running, why the false attack on administrators of the Florida Covid program where more Republicans have suffered death from the coronavirus than Democrats by failing to get vaccinated”
Hint. The COVID-19 experimental artificial mRNA gene therapy products (aka “vaccines”) don’t work as advertised, and are killing people. Yes, you may not know that, because the Administration has (illegally) been using its back doors into Google, Facebook, Twitter (until very recently), etc to actively suppress that information, and just got billions more to advertise the bivalent “vaccines”. Most recently, the bivalent “vaccines” were approved based on testing with six mice. The original approvals skipped significant testing requirements, including the CDC mandated “shed” test that would have shown patients shedding the spike proteins for months after the inoculations. This is significant, since safety of the vaccines was predicated on the mRNA generating the spike proteins breaking down at the injection site before it could migrate throughout the body. It doesn’t, but has been detected at least 4 months later. Hence many of the side effects of the “vaccines”. (The cause is apparently the substitution of Pseudouridine for Uridine in the mRNA).
Ron DeSantis knows that. Most of us here know that. You just aren’t going to find it in the NYT, WaPo, etc.
The betrayal of the republican base by HBTPFH's beloved and adored and Perfectly Respectable Mitch McConnell has gotten so bad so fast regarding the Omnibus Budget deal that even the complete establishment squish Kevin McCarthy has had to step up publicly and just about beg McConnell to NOT cut ANOTHER big-time dem win deal with Schumer.
Good luck Kevin McCarthy, but Mitch knows what he has to do to advance the GOPe/Dem agenda.
The best part of it all from McConnell's point of view? The fact that all of the GOPe minions, like those here at Althouse, will still blame Trump for this latest huge betrayal.
Surber? what makes that guy so great?
I prefer Ann Coulter.
I'd expect a viable answer to explain the 2 billion dollars
OK Hunter, here we go again since you aren't going to do the work yourself. The AA that Kushner and others pushed through made it possible for the countries that signed on to trade directly with Israel. Since the Saudis didn't sign before Trump left office but were interested in doing business with 'the Silicon Valley of the MidEast' they made a deal to have Kushner set up an investment firm to handle the 2b investment in Israel. (You can check me on this, but I believe the total the Saudis put up was closer to 3b, but 2b was earmarked for Israel only) as a condition of Kushner's taking the deal.
There was some concern from other members of the Royal family that Kushner wouldn't be the best fit for the deal, but MBS insisted Kushner handle it. I've seen numbers floated around of Kushner's firm getting 25m (<1%) to something less for handling the money, but can't verify that. Your insinuation that the deal was a payoff of some sort is leftist bullshit talking points.
If you are getting your info from Coulter you might want to expand your horizons a bit. She's a bomb thrower, not a source of information. Even when she was all in on Trump she never had anything of interest to say.
Pacwest -

Trump is losing ground to a person who isn't even in the running for 2024. This points to his weakened position and shrinking support (and to his own self-inflicted wounds) - that's it.
It reveals a growing desire from the base to dump Trump. Some of his former supporters are sick of him. (some) All the talk of "only Trump can fix ...." isn't working anymore. Other issues like the jerks and sell-outs within the GOP are beside the point.
The "Trump or bust" is going bust. But you pretty much just said that.
That DeSantis is like Jeb? wow - I don't see that at all. The Bush family name no longer has any clout for elected office. People want new, fight and effective leadership - without the word salad and the drama.

WHO cares??
I'm not finding where 2 billion was earmarked for Israel.
Keep looking. It's there. Kushner wasn't accepting any deal that wasn't marked for Israel, and the Saudis were interested in getting Israel tech. And I'm pretty sure it's 3b, but just 2b was linked to Israel firms. Not sure why the majority of articles only use the 2b number.
Also consider The Kingdom's attitude to doing business with Trump vs their disdain for Biden. Which leads me to another reason I support Trump. Trump was a businessman and as such didn't try to play a zero sum game that has become so ingrained in our foreign policy. He got a lot of shit for saying Xi was very smart. You aren't going to get very far labeling the head of the world's second largest 'corporation' as an idiot villian. Trump dealt with situations realistically with outcomes that benefited the US rather than globalists.
Aside: While the lab leak may not have been intentional the release of 300k infected Chinese certainly was. Trump was making real headway towards forcing China into deals that were better for the US. Xi took the opportunity to disrupt things.
"A conservative leader asked me today: is it just me or does the RNC exist like a closed universe unto itself, unaffected by reality and the voters they represent? How can this be?"

How can this be?
Because there are far too many GOPe-ers who will retreat/surrender at the first sign of poitical conflict and the republican leadership counts on that as they sell us down the river.
Ann Althouse voted for Obama...twice.
He will then endorse Haley who will win the Presidency and bring back Trump’s policy’s without the vitriol.
Haley? Nikki Haley?
Not a chance in hell.
He will then endorse Haley who will win the Presidency and bring back Trump’s policy’s without the vitriol.
That ain't happening. Trump and Haley didn't see eye to eye on too many things. And, you aren't going to get Trump policies without getting vitriol no matter who is trying to implement them.
I don't understand why people think that Trump was the originator of the vitriol. He pushed back against the vitriol. Vote for Romney if all you want to do is get along. Of course since he is mean to dogs, causes cancer, and wants to kill granny even then we might not get along.
Big announcement from Super-Trump tomorrow.
ooo - I'm giddy with anticipation. Is he going to announce his running mate? Will it be Kari Lake?
Will Super-Trump run for Speaker of the House?
I didn't know this - but I guess it's possible. c r a z Y.
I'd approve - even tho he isn't guud at speeekin
Impossible not to notice how HBTPFH's comments are quite indistinguishable from the standard leftist fare, and have been for quite some time.
Oh just wait until the propaganda media get through with DeSantis. I mean he is already Hitler, Nazi, homophone, transphobe, racist, sexist, istist. And he is t even running yet.
Cannot wait for the fame Russian dossier to get released and the 50 former cia leaders to claim he is a Russian agent.
