Isn't It? Wasn't He?
What about Hillary?
Norm is hanging out and laughing with the comedians. Barbara is probably just seething. Heaven…
I used to watch all the interviews. I’m not sure I have a strong memory of anyone specific but I do recall Walters had the sense to ask a compelling question then shut up and let the person answer. It made for interesting answers…
…that and she wore the bunny suit. Made me feel kind of ‘funny’…
As I commented on the other thread: she was wildly overrated.
If both are in heaven, there likely wouldn't be any argument left as they would know or else be able to know if they wanted to know.
But you never know, I guess. They both might be stubborn enough to want to still argue the point.
After watching the video its admirable Barbara’s career spanned the transformation of American journalism from journalism to liberal propaganda. Most of the other broads were quickly cast aside when a younger, prettier face appeared…
I’ll say it forever. Norm was the best.
RIP Norm.
Walters says murder “is just a little too far” for Bill Clinton.
A slosh.
She was a beautiful woman.
I think there are a lot of funny female comics--I have to say that first--but this is exactly what the type of men who say "women aren't funny" mean when they say "women aren't funny." Talk about not missing the joke. "Missing the joke" doesn't just make the hostesses seems humorless, it also makes them come across stupid. So you have one smart person, the only man on stage, and the only person other than the audience who is in on the joke, and a diverse couch full of Karens trying to enforce the superficial niceness over actual genius.
Anyways, R.I.P. Barbara.
They can't be arguing about this in the afterlife. Norm is in Heaven.
Ugh, people who personify rhhardin’s analysis of soap opera women. Good riddance. The world is a much better place without them.
I once saw The View when they were showing it on a screen in my gym. I thought I could feel my brain cells committing suicide from that brief exposure to The View.
There was no arguing. Those three dumbasses all tried to get Norm to stop calling Clinton a murderer, and Norm...who never had a fuck to give...kept at it.
Lots of stories about Norm just not caring. The best is him getting fired from SNL for telling OJ Simpson jokes. Don Ohlmeyer, an NBC big shot and friend of OJ, told Norm to stop telling OJ jokes when doing Weekend Update. Instead of stopping, Norm did more.
Norm was funny there.
Interesting.
I wonder what the hands under the legs as if to warm them up rocking back and forth was about.
Now if you go on the View- and mention anything negative about any precious democrat - the vicious loyalists to The Party - murder guests with accusations of mansplaining.
God Damn! He was funny.
Here's Norm bombing at the White House Correspondant Dinner.

No... Norm and Barbara, in their afterlife, now know just what Dollar Bill Clinton is...
And who really murdered JFK.
"This is a live show! Live!"
ha ha ha ha
better watch that guest list!
Norm's autobiography(!) is a fun read.
Intro by Louis CK.
Not a comment by Norm MacDonald: "That fucking Louis CK bit me in the ass. Here I was, worried about his lack of vowels. Add a fucking vowel to your name. So I can say it! Are you CooK or maybe CocK or CucK or what the fuck vowel is supposed to be in there. I don't know how to say his name, I was worried about that. And he got me with the phone masturbation. I was kind of blindsided by the phone masturbation. And how can I complain, I don't know how to say his fucking name?"
Now if only Joy Behar would keel over- we could really get somewhere with a happy new year.
Pretty sure Norm MacDonald went to heaven though.
Walters says murder “is just a little too far” for Bill Clinton.
Perhaps. But not for his wife.
Notice that even back then the loyal leftist bees just want to shut the guest up - because he isn't performing like they want.
'Norm and Barbara are probably still arguing about this in the afterlife.'
What's there to argue about? : )
From what I've read, his 'OJ is a murderer' jokes are what got him fired from SNL.
The head of NBC was a friend of OJ and didn't appreciate Norm's humor on the subject.
Norm was told many times to knock it off, but in typical Norm fashion just said 'Fuck it' and did his thing...
I thought Hillary handled that part of the business. Along with the bimbo eruptions.
The View would actually have been watchable if they had just featured Norm everyday.
The bigger joke is him tweaking the ladies "I'd always heard this place was full of liberals and didn't believe it but..."
Had I had the chance I would have apologized, thus: "Oh, I misspoke, I'm really sorry, I didn't mean murderer. I meant to say rapist. Juanita Broadrick was, miraculously, still alive, last time I checked... And even if she wasn't Bill would have an alibi while Hillary..."
Pretty sure Norm MacDonald went to heaven though.
I hope so. Fun guy.
But here's the thing. We don't know him. How much of Norm MacDonald do we know? Way less than 1% of his life. He's given many of us joy, so our feeling is, that Norm will make heaven fun, and he should be there.
But it's not our call. Heaven is God's house.
Just goes to show The View was created by Barbara as bad as it is today. Walters just acted as a better control rod to keep the reaction from meltingdown and releasing toxicity.
"Now who is being naive, Kay?"
Jesus specifically said that the thief on the cross would join him in heaven.
This is a man who committed serious felonies against innocent people. According to one gospel, he was a robber, which is more violent than thief. This is a nameless, possibly violent and definitely criminal man who got into heaven.
So imagine you're the innocent victim of his crime. And you get to heaven, too. You're going to be kind of shocked that this criminal is in heaven, right? He's the guy who robbed you, punched you in the face, stole that necklace off your wife, terrorized your kids. And you show up in heaven, and the guy who robbed you is there.
That's when Christian lessons like "love your enemies" and "love strangers" and "forgive people over and over" come in handy.
Personally I would assume that the people identified in the Bible who are in heaven are in heaven.
For instance, Moses and Elijah both made it into heaven. Moses was a murderer, so even murderers can get in. That's basic Christian doctrine.
Norm WAS being funny. You just didn't get the joke,
BARBARA.
This reminds me of how much i hated Barbara walters. Acting like the Queen of england, telling everyone what to say and do, and everyone else on the show kissing her ass.
Bleh!
Norm was the best. No one else ever expressed such joy in poking the liberal bear.
Norm and Barbara are probably still arguing about this in the afterlife.
Althouse, I love that you acknowledge the afterlife! (Or at least the possibility of an afterlife).
uuhm, Saint Croix, the joke really wasn't about Norm being the one to make it to heaven.
Abortionist, yes. Also, a sexual liberal from pedo to intern, and a smoker for entertainment.
What I recall most clearly was as a little boy watchng her slavering over Shah Reza Pahlavi's vast celebration of his reign. I was a kid and the hoopla and elephants and worshipful respect and todying orchestrated by Barbbie overawed me.
I was an Oregon hick. Still am.
Anyway, years down the road she was an enighltened leftie symp down with outrage against injustice done to or imagined by Muslims. Times change and the Bell of the Ball must change with them, I swuppose. Her repudiation of the shah and all of his works was complete now that she cost hostess any more of his international soirees.

Exactly, he was being funny, everyone was laughing and the lunatics didn't understand the joke that in certain quarters at that time it was accepted as a given that Bill Clinton was a murderer.
Back then I wouldn't have put anything past Slick Willy, but as the years go by it seems less likely to me. He may not have done much to stop the drug traffic in Arkansas, but I doubt he was the kingpin, as appealing as the idea of Michael Corleone or Tony Montana in the White House might be. The Clintons had reason to kill Jeffrey Epstein, but so did a lot of other people, who are a lot more experienced and therefore better at killing.
Bombing at the White House Correspondents' Dinner may be a sign of integrity and a badge of honor when you consider who the audience is. If I'd been there that time I would have laughed. If I'd been there when Stephen Colbert or Michelle Wolf hosted it would have gotten ugly.
Louie CK does an interesting talk. That's a sympathetic interview with a stand-up comic I recognize (Tom Segura) and a woman I don't (Christina P, a blogger I think). It's all about his public shaming.
It's possible that Louie CK paid for the time, as he's trying to rehabilitate (resurrect?) his career. On the other hand, I think it takes a certain amount of bravery for a comic like Segura -- or any artist -- to be sympathetic to Louie CK.
The other thing that's of interest is what Sarah Silverman had to say about that time Louie CK masturbated in front of her.
Saint Croix, Christina P is Tom Segura's wife.
On a late-night talk show, Norm claimed that the reason he was given for being fired at SLN was that "he was not funny". Is it possible to even imagine the amount of projection required by the Gods of SNL to claim Norm was not funny? Norm was Canadian ( as he once japed, “I may be Canadian but I am still a human being ). Of all of Canada’s National Treasures it lent to the US, Norm was the best.
Goddamn, I miss Norm.
thanks Lily
If people are interested in stand-up comics, you should really check out the The Green Room with Paul Provenza.
It's a brilliant fucking idea, in my opinion. The green room is the area backstage where stand-up comics shoot the shit and try to upstage each other and make each other laugh. They can and are competitive as shit. It's a fun show. (I need to add it to my movie book).
It was a Showtime show, so the production values are high quality, and the episodes I've seen are free on youtube. I've watched all the shows I could find, from beginning to end, it's so much fun.
Another old lawyer said...

would St. Peter deputize Walters to do entry interivew whenever Bill shows up?
The other outstanding art that features stand-up comics is
Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist.
Proto-Cancel culture. Ladies have been behind it the entire time. It's a matter of record.
