Bob Dylan politely scolding the audience during “Every Grain of Sand” a few nights ago. “There’s someone shining a blue light over there. We want that light taken right off. Please take it off…it gets in our face.” pic.twitter.com/qnzFqACrhU

Is that the royal we, the authorial we, or the papal we?
I hate to dump on Dylan because I like a lot of his music but you have to be a hard core fan to find that song, as performed, entertaining.
Maybe it sounded better in person.
“politely scold” = oxymoron.
When I saw him in Hollywood at the Pantages, all cell phones had to be locked in special cases. Someone pulled a fast one with that video.
I thouroughly enjoyed the show. My wife, not so much.
Tangled up in blue.
'Taken off' instead of 'turned off' or 'shut off' is an odd phrase.
Maybe it's Minnesotan...
They no longer allow cigarette lighters at concerts. But do they allow marijuana lighters?
Blue light used to mean something, I think a police call box.
Bob's singing gibberish designed to sound American
I think K mart had a blue light special. A lower price if you could get to it in time and buy it before it expired. Perhaps this is foreshadowing for Dylan.

Howard, LOL. Althouse loves the interior references. Good one.
I once witnessed a formidably talented actor in full costume come over after a play and tell the idiot college girl sitting next to me (front row on the side) what he thought of being distracted through the entire play by the blue glow of her texting. He was playing Falstaff in Shakespeare and wearing a fat suit under his Elizabethan costume, which made him even more formidable. Watching his little encore and her reaction to it almost made up the annoyance her blue glow and constant typing had caused me for the previous two hours. I was tempted to thank him out loud, but bit my tongue and suppressed my chuckles.
@Kai — True!!
Thanks, Howard!
Re audience distracting the performers: I love the wartime black comedy "To Be Or Not To Be". Everytime the head of a Polish acting troupe launches into his monologue, the handsome aviator sitting in the front row drives him crazy by standing up and conspicuously leaving the theater. (He does this for his backstage tryst with the actor's wife who is playing Ophelia.)
“Hi, I’m Bob Dylan. Remember the 60s? Cream, Vanilla Fudge, Strawberry Alarm Clock…”
People pay good money to listen to that dreck?
For Dylan fans reading this, Ray Padgett's Substack newsletter is really good.
As a theatrical lighting person, it's my opinion that the blue light is not coming from an audience member. It's probably coming from a followspot.
That stage floor is so bright that it would blind the performers from being to really see the audience.
The light is blue and that matched the blue lighting look that is up on the stage.
Also, who would bring a bright blue flashlight to a concert?
