I love that poster. It's for a 1955 Japanese film about the Abominable Snowman.
I ran across that just now researching the phrase "half human" as I was writing the previous post.
Interesting things about the poster: woman in shorts in a snowy mountain environment, man more suitably dressed in a Tyrolean hat, vaguely indicated male genitalia on the Snowman.
ADDED: Joe Dante explains "Half Human":
What the whole thing if you dare: here.

She's got a big knife, and her guy friend has a rifle, so watch out, Mr. Snowman!
Snowman shrinkage.
Or would that be abominable shrinkage?
Ha. This post is Lileks-esque.
Where's Jessica Lange when you need her?

Ahh, the old days. For the same vibe see Raquel Welch in One Million Years B.C. (1966)

I'm waiting for a transgender version that costs $1,000,000,000 to produce and earns $1,000 in theaters (e.g., recent gay romance flop).
You'd have to call Dr. Freud but I think that's "supposed to be" the monster's left hand.
Ah, oh, no, I don't think they wanted me to talk really, I don't think they wanted me to say anything. It was just their way of having a bit of fun the swines. Strange thing is they make such bloody good cameras.
It looks like an African-American to me. Japanese fascination with 50s monster city-destroying figures is supposed to be nuclear war fascination, not displaced racism.
Why would a Japanese mountain climber wear a Tyrolean hat? Don’t the Japanese have their own headgear for cold weather?
... vaguely indicated male genitalia on the Snowman.
Naughty girl. Go sit in the corner for the rest of the day.
I haven't seen this movie, but the girl has a large knife and scabbard, so she could be a savage. That's kind of a cute outfit for a savage, but it would explain the lack of sensible footwear. She is also an action-oriented woman, as demonstrated by the awkward body posture and jazz hand. Ninja girls probably get hot when they are prowling around.
The Tyrolean hat and gun imply a sporting man.
I bet she lives in a warm cave and is the snowman's friend. The sporting fellow is hunting in the mountains and encounters the snowman. Now I want to watch the movie and check my guesses.
For comparison, here is the movie poster for the American remake of the movie.

The woman is dressed in an even more unlikely outfit, and is vulnerable.
Unusual to see a Japanese poster with so much kanji...hardly any hiragana and seemingly no katakana (for foreign words).
I thought it was Chinese at first glance.
A modern poster would look totally different character-wise...
