I took those photographs on September 19th.

The Menominee North Pier Lighthouse.
"The Menominee North Pier lighthouse is located in the harbor of Menominee, Michigan. The station was first lit in 1877. The current structure and its still operational light was lit in 1927, and automated in 1972. It is also sometimes called the 'Menominee (Marinette) North Pierhead Light."

i think it'd make you feel Good, as a light; to know that you'd saved people
Canada dropping the vaccine requirment for visitors September 30. The covid dam is breaking. Normality is being restored.
Is there a mnemonic to help remember the name?
Are there tide pools nearby with sea amenominees?
Belgium is shutting down a nuclear power plant that provides 10% of their power tonight because they cannot admit a blunder. Putin’s investment in green politics in the west is really paying off.

I'm confused, didn't Canada go to war over these vaccines ?
They sent all their truckers to jail, didn't they?
Now they're just giving up?
Doo doo doo doo doo….

Having expanded the second photo to better see the line of benches, it would seem that there is nothing to sit and contemplate to the right. Makes me wonder what's so interesting to the left.
I love the juxtaposition of the chair. I want to be there—with a cooler—RIGHT NOW!

I love the juxtaposition of the chair. I want to be there right now … with a cooler.
I have also been there.
can anyone explain this one to me?
Biden said,
And everybody found out, there’s not a lot of total climate deniers anymore after they’ve seen what happened this year.
what happened THIS year? does he mean the cold? or the normal heat? or the lack of hurricanes?
Normally not a 'center the subject' guy, but this one really works...

trust us! it's not optional... If you were There.. It'd BE cooler, downright COLD! :)
Check out Biden's recent comments on defunding the police and the FBI.
We are governed by a lying moron, who can't keep his story straight from one day to the next.
But at least he's entertaining, so there's that.
"Where To and Back" the Austrian film trilogy about refugees from Hitler turned out to be pretty good. Old fashioned, low budget, and with a few too many coincidences, but watchable and worth watching.
Goethe's line "Amerika, du hast es besser" (America, you have it better") is referenced in two of the films. Things were terrible in those years, but it was nice that some people thought that way.
Were you able to see Escanaba by moonlight?
I’m from the Upper Peninsula. Have you ever made it up to Marquette? The UP is beautiful and so empty. I’m moving home there as soon as my kids launch in the next few years.
Yes, we were on our way to Marquette when we stopped to see the lighthouse.
Stayed for 3 days and loved it.
Scroll down for pictures.
Lovely supper club on the main drag north of downtown Menominee, formerly Schloegel's but now Watermark Bay.
I was confused for about an hour. I've been to Menomenee several times and seen the lake. It just didn't look at big when I was there. Certainly no need for a lighthouse one would think. Unless it was some sort of miniature, decorative lighthouse and Ann/Meade were screwing with me.
Then I finally figured out that it was Menomenee Michigan, not Wisconsin and the scales fell from my eyes.
What are the odds of 2 towns with such an odd name.
And even a famous song!

Nice photo. Thanks for sharing. Hope all is well
When I visited the U.P. last summer, we spent one night in Manistique, which is located on Lake Michigan. There is a very similar-looking automated red lighthouse in the harbor on an L-shaped causeway. To get on the causeway, though, you have to clamber over about twenty feet of boulders, walking carefully so as not to turn an ankle or worse. I made it out to the lighthouse and felt as if I had accomplished something.
“Ukraine is a core Russian interest but not an American one.” - Barack Obama”
That sounds right, except Ukraine was a core Obama interest when his CIA removed the Ukrainian President.
Ukraine was a core American interest when Joe and Hunter Beiden used it to make lots of money in an influence sale corruption operation.
Does anyone really think that the Beiden family did not profit in millions of dollars by corrupt influence peddling in Ukraine adverse to the interests of the Ukrainian people? But Trump had hotel emoluments because foreign leaders came to DC, so it goes.
If someone wants to research the change in income of Trump hotels due to increased business from diplomats before and after the Trump election I will gladly listen, but democrats won’t do that, the smear is as good as the truth to them.
Great opportunity to taste some smoked fish. Menominee is outstanding.
Menominee, Michigan is just over the line from Wisconsin, as you travel up the coast of Lake Michigan (which at that point is Green Bay). On the Wisconsin side of the line, it's Marinette. The 2 areas are separated by the Menominee River, so it's obvious when you're switching from Wisconsin to Michigan. I still think the U.P. should be part of Wisconsin, so it's a little hard to take, but in the end, does it matter?

There's no industry up there.
As an Aside. There is a huge Corliss steam engine in the town park of Trout Creek. The flywheel has to more than 12 feet in diameter. It was used in the logging industry to make lumber. To rebuild Chicago.
If were comparing flywheels you need to visit the Cornish Pump in Iron Mountain, it has a diameter of 40 feet, it was put in place to pump the Chapin Iron Mine, now that's a flywheel.
