I've curated 6 TikToks for you this afternoon. Some people love it!

1. Hydraulic press performance art.

2. The difference between your 97% and my 100% is bigger than you think.

3. Why so many toilet breaks?

4. How did women pee in the 18th century?

5. A peasant observes the execution of Anne Boleyn.

6. A heads-up if you're in Saskatchewan.

My TikTok posts are only for talking about the selected videos.

If you want to say something general about TikTok or the fact that I blog things I find on TikTok, you need to put that in one of the open threads (that is, the "cafés" or posts that are just a photograph).

Lilly, a dog म्हणाले...

#1 is the clear winner to me.

Lash LaRue म्हणाले...

Good choices, but number one is impressive.

Nancy म्हणाले...

All that written text with hashtags totally covered up the illustrations in the 18th century one. 8-(
Hydraulic press performance art was excellent!
Also liked 97 vs 100 percent and Anne Boleyn execution!
Being 65 explains why so many toilet breaks.

rhhardin म्हणाले...

With no cars in parking lots, where are you going to pee?

tim maguire म्हणाले...

The Anne Boleyn execution was really well done. I don't often last more than 30 seconds, but that was entertaining throughout.

The difference between 97 and 100 would be bigger if the 97 tried. But he didn't. Clearly not the best he could do. I didn't get the Saskatchewan bit. So the road turns a bit. Maybe if he made a dick joke, but he didn't. Or if he did, it went over my head.

Curious George said... "I liked the heads up tok"

but left all this extra space.

Please don't do that!

Off with her head, baby.

Misinforminimalism म्हणाले...

The Leroys crushed.

I wouldn't have guessed you could make a boring video about bourdaloues, but she managed it.

john म्हणाले...

#5 cracked me up. Funny that I was just reading about the musical "Six" and was trying to remmeber all the Ann's and Catherine's.

Readering म्हणाले...

Again order preference. Hydraulic and pithy 100%. Impatient with later ones.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

I was hoping the peasant execution one would be Adrian Bliss. But I was disappointed. Hard to believe a starving peasant would be so overweight. And yet I watched 'til the end.
The Saskatchewan warning video was sweet.
Why would anyone care how women during the Regency peed?
So I liked Saskatchewan, plus the Why so many Toilet Breaks aria. Nice voice.

Number 6. Canucks. Take-off you hosers!

Did I. Weird. Sorry, accident. I've never been an extra spacer.

Andrew म्हणाले...

I loved the execution commentary. Very well done.

Fred Drinkwater म्हणाले...

The Hydraulic Press Channel IS performance art, all by itself. No need for superfluous imitative commentary.

I'm in the midst of reading the third Hilary Mantel Thomas Cromwell book, having just refreshed my memory by reading the end of the second, so the execution tok was serendipitous. The video pretty accurately captures the gist, per Mantel. I'm at a point in the book where Cromwell is having (imagined) second thoughts re helping Anne and her putative lovers to lose their heads. The whole book is actually one long second thought. My least favorite of the the three so far.

#1 was funny, nice use of music

#2 was kind of psychotic

#3 gave up on this one

#4 gave up on this one too (women squat to pee, throughout human history, so this was a bait-and-switch from vulgar fun to academic snooze, who gives a shit about pots, nobody, nobody, had to get out)

#5 ehhh, it was okay but I wasn't laughing so I bailed

#6 Saskatchewan was kind of funny

I watched #1 twice, now I'm going to watch it again. Good stuff.

Carol म्हणाले...

Likely true about the incest.

Steph म्हणाले...

I liked #3 singing about the toilet breaks! Funny!

Susan in Seattle म्हणाले...

I liked Saskatchewan best; the peasant and 97% were also amusing.

William म्हणाले...

#4 was interesting and informative. If I saw such a utensil in an antique store I would mistake it for a gravy boat. If I ever get caught in a time warp and am entertaining the Duchess of Devonshire at supper, I'll take care not to use it for such a purpose....As I remember, Anne Boleyn gave fulsome speech in praise of King Henry right before execution. I guess she was hoping for a last minute reprieve. Win some, lose some.

In Japan years ago, a late-night TV talk show did a piece on how Japanese women, dressed in formal kimono with long cloth panels attached to the sleeves, managed to pee.

It showed such a lady videoed in a typically tiny restaurant stall, with an old-fashioned toilet mounted down in the floor.

The model began by twirling the panels on the sleeves to wrap them around her arms and get them out of the way.... she then carefully pulled back each kimono layer and tucked it under her arms....and so on.

I had a new appreciation for my ability to just whip it out when I have to go.

Dave Begley म्हणाले...

I had never heard of a bourdaloue until today. Not much different than a trucker using an empty Gatorade bottle.

wildswan म्हणाले...

I liked Saskatchewan best. There's several other jokes along the highways out there on the high plains which were put out by Norwegians. There's a Norwegian weather gauge which is a rock. If the rock is wet, it's raining. A sign explains this in fairly small print so you have to stop and go back to find out what's going on..

Inga म्हणाले...

#3 toilet breaks, I got lost in the beautiful score and the soulful voice of the singer. The sad story of Margie and her weak bladder set to music almost made me cry.

A Haiku

Moon. Sound of water.
How women did pee, those nights
In the olden days.

tim maguire म्हणाले...

Lots of people liked Saskatchewan. I need someone to explain it to me. I didn’t find it amusing at all. The best thing about it is that it was 10 seconds long.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

Love mossyrockk.
You've linked her before.

This one if I'm not mistaken.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

#2 is pretty good.

Anne Boleyn. Quite creative. The apple made me think of Eve.

@ tim maguire

Life in Saskatchewan is so boring, featureless, uniform and predictable that even a bend in the road is beyond the imagination and expectations of Saskatchewanians.

LibertarianLeisure म्हणाले...

#3 Toilet breaks. Great voice and understated ' meaning' to conundrum not given until last line...." I'm 65, 65!" Funny :)

Fred Drinkwater म्हणाले...

Sporty's Pilot Shop sells urinal bottles for use by private pilots on long flights. They also sell a *contoured attachment* for the womenfolk.

TaeJohnDo म्हणाले...

Women peeing seems to have been a form of hydraulic performance art way back when...in many countries, the gals (I mean ladies, sorry) just squat on the side of the road. I guess they can't afford a fancy gravy boat.

Tim म्हणाले...

Love the one about the 97 vs 100. Totally true. Savage, but true.

That Canadian guy is a total hoser.

In Canadian mythology, the hockey player who performed the worst during the game had to hose down the ice after the game. Hoser.

"Also, Canadian football actually has four downs. It's just that Canadian quarterbacks always punt on third down to play it safe. It's a Canadian fact."
