"According to [the office of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott], more than 5,100 migrants have arrived in Washington from Texas on more than 135 buses.
The first bus arrived in mid-April, but city officials and non-government organizations working with the migrants -- who travel voluntarily -- have been increasingly concerned about the pace of arrivals over recent weeks.... 'Washington, DC, finally understands what Texans have been dealing with every single day, as our communities are overrun and overwhelmed by thousands of illegal immigrants thanks to President (Joe) Biden's open border policies,' Abbott's press secretary Renae Eze said in a statement to CNN.
'If the mayor wants a solution to this crisis, she should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border -- something he has failed to do,' Eze added."

Are eastern urban Democrats still laughing at Texas and Arizona? Bowser has hit the panic button over 5100 “undocumented” immigrants. Texas alone gets more than 4000 a day.
When the Republicans become the majority in the US House of Representatives, they should impeach President Biden for refusing to enforce the USA's immigration laws.
We've had by a low count from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, over 2 million border crossings in the year 2021. We're well past 500,000 at this point of this year, with the largest migrations heading up the hemisphere.
So sorry that Washington DC is having to take part in being an American in 2022, under Democratic rule. It's very tough on Muriel Bowser to have to be on the receiving end of hers and her party's policies. I feel bad for her.
Imagine what the ranchers, farmers, small towns, small businesses and families are dealing with along the border towns and inland towns of Texas, Arizona, and SoCal. The Number 1 priority of the United States Government is security of the nation and it's citizens. On this, every person sitting in Washington DC has failed miserably. But the largest blame is clearly on those fighting for the people of Ukraine and the security of the Ukrainian border, while abdicating their responsibility to their own citizens and our own border. Tar and Feathers is all I can think of any longer. Biden and company should be run out of town and into a jail cell for their dismantling of the border. But they are not alone as this has been happening through many administrations with only one- Trump's- that got any slow down at all.
I still think Abbott needs to point some of those buses to Martha's Vineyard, The Hamptons, Westport, CT, Bel Air, CA, Palo Alto, and Medina, WA. Let those who pay for this, enjoy some of what they've purchased for the rest of us.
Why hasn’t Dr. Jill opened up the White House? Plenty of empty rooms. It is, after all, government housing. Better behaved than Hunter.

Maybe they can find some other sanctuary city to send them to. Chicago? Boston? NYC? LA? Portland? Seattle?
The Texas governor is a mixed bag, but this was a stroke of genius.
Give it a few more weeks and Mayor Bull Connor Bowser will be breaking out the firehouses and German Shephherds on those uppity immigrants.
The busing should be expanded to include from Arizona, New Mexico and California going to more blue states and cities. The invasion of our borders needs to be felt all across the “bring me more maids, landscapers, and lower costs for my meat precincts. Then we may have a real national dialog about immigration.
When people are confronted with trade offs in tax dollars available to improve their childrens’ schools, healthcare, and future job opportunities, perhaps we’ll see the recognition that too much immigration is a problem. And God forbid how the public mood would swing with an uptick of real domestic terrorism from some who crossed into America through open borders.
I agree with expanding the cities to send the buses, starting with the swing state cities such as Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Atlanta, etc. Maybe it will help steer the voting to the red side.

Arizona has been active in the busing. I don't know the numbers but Texas and AZ are the only two states in your list with Republican governors.
I recently visited two of my most progressive friends (one of whom has been deeply involved in Democratic party politics since fresh out of college he worked as an aide to Herb Kohl in the 90s. Bowser's complaint came up in conversation and I made the obvious point about what the border states and cities have been dealing with and chickens coming home to roost, etc. etc. I think it was telling that no one objected or expressed any sympathy for her.
So, Muriel, now you have skin in the game. The game of Open Borders.

I would agree with this even if it weren't government housing. If someone were to tell me that we needed even more undocumented immigrants, my question for that person would be, "So how many of them will you personally be taking in?"
They would probably come back with a lame response such as "That's the government's responsibility, not mine." I would then remind them that relying on the government to do charitable acts is a very passive--indeed, lazy--form of compassion. It's easy to think you're being compassionate if you're using other people's money.
5000? pffft. That is the daily influx in some texas counties.
I'd develop a brochure of the generous benefits by sanctuary cities and states. Then I'd screen the places by which are "toss-up" area. Hold public meetings telling of the streets paved with gold and pass out bus tickets to all interested.
It might be good PR for the DC Mayor to cry out. It might do LASTING good to change some votes via reality.
(Atlanta seems particularly ripe. I lived there for years. Brown people are viewed as taking government funds from black folk. And they don't like it one bit.)

Yes! Decolonize those dorms! How many tens of thousands of illegal aliens could be housed and fed in the dorms of the public universities? Not to mention medical care. Looking at my intersectionality venn diagram, it is clear that the illegal aliens are at the bottom of the oppressor/oppressed duality. Everyone is an oppressor of an illegal alien, so in the name of social justice all students must give up their beds and their rooms. It is, after all, only fair!

JAORE: I worked in refugee resettlement in Atlanta. We completely displaced the residents of the suburb of Clarkston, while the national media called said residents racists for not submitting to battling clans of Somalis and Afghanis taking over their homeland, as it were.
But the most interesting culture wars occurred at the housing project a few blocks from my home. First "we" displaced some longtime residents with Bosnians. Then Katrina displacement brought camps of rival black American gang members to meet our homegrown ones. So we has illegal Mexican gangs, Crips and Bloods and who knows what else, and war hardened Bosnians.
Guess who won.
DC is the perfect place to flood with illegals. They are sitting in their big houses and collecting their big federal paychecks or salaries from the corporations that pay them to lobby. Why not do a bit to reduce their comfort at screwing everyone else ?

I lived in and around DC most of my working life. It's a reasonable location to settle a bunch of illegal immigrants. For one thing, when their hearings come up, they'll be right near the agency HQ. Don't ignore MD and VA though.

And so? The so called "riots" didn't last a full day. National Guard members are not sitting in a barracks at a base somewhere training and working at National Guard matters. They're at home, at work watching their kids, shopping, doing everything else a civilian does, because, they are for all practical purposes, civilians when not on duty. Unshined shoes? Unshaven? Lounging outside in a plain white T-shirt? Doesn't matter- they're not on duty.
And- they don't have pre-written deployment plans for everything- since they can be called to do anything. I sincerely doubt most National Guard armories have a full array of riot control gear for the attached units. Probably comes from a central storage depot. I'd say 24 hours after a call before the first properly equipped troops with a basic briefing can show up. There's 1100 or so Marines at the Marine Corps Barracks- you could probably get 100 of them in an hour. Followed by a national uproar over doing so...
