The article was first posted on Thursday with the headline, “Forget Pronouns: Democrats need to become the party of building things,” and [Fareed] Zakaria shared the article on Twitter with the commentary that getting “stuff done” is “a lot more important to most Americans than using the right pronouns.”

Zakaria’s message was widely criticized, with many emphasizing the importance of respecting pronouns and paying attention to the needs of transgender people. Chasten Buttigieg, husband of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, wrote, “It is wildly inappropriate to instruct Democrats to toss aside an entire group of Americans in order to win.”; 7/15/22, 11:10 PM

Jefferson's Revenge said...: Coneflowers are coming up in our wildflower patch. They usually take over after the bergamot and milkweed starts to fade and then the goldenrod takes us through fall. I planted a false sunflower plant last year in the side garden and it’s flowered profusely and continuously since May. It’s great for cut flowers. I like to think I can look out the window in back and guess the date from the flowers in our different gardens and field. I can’t do that accurately but I like to think I can.

Coneflowers also make me think about fall. I like a four season climate because I always have something to look forward to. Always another corner to turn.; 7/16/22, 6:09 AM

Addressing someone by the name/pronoun they prefer is free, easy, and kind. Using them builds community and belonging. Democrats can walk and chew gum. We can fix roads and build bridges while also making it a little easier to go about your life. That’s called freedom.

Chasten chastises. I am beginning to think Pete and Chasten really deserve each other. Better that than they inflict themselves on two other people.

I hope it is clear that I am NOT arguing against any minority groups. (I belong to several myself.) I am arguing against giving Republicans an easy way to demagogue and divert attention. If the Democrats are wiped out in the midterms, it will not help these embattled groups any!

"Several"? Fareed really put his foot in it with that. Eyebrows go up all across his massive audience, as viewers wonder what he's hiding.

The old headline was “Forget Pronouns: Democrats need to become the party of building things,” and the new one is “Democrats need to become the party of building things.” This is similar to MSNBC's Why Can't We Build Things Like The Hoover Dam Anymore campaign of a few years back. We can't because environmentalists block big projects like that nowadays. Massive national debt also plays a role. Plus, we built all that stuff in the last century. Yes it is. Meanwhile, Ray Epps got a sugarcoated article in the New York Times about how it is HELL for him, even though he was on many video tapes spewing out that people need to go to the Capitol. He is a FED...so feel bad for him. WAHHHH..... But an older lady who was let into the Capitol by the Capitol police (ask AOC, she is very upset that she isn't allowed to talk about the CP like that by her side) has to be thrown in prison to make Nasty Nancy's little farce seem like it is true.

Pugetopolis use to have the same problem with Canadian Goose poop. They were everywhere, they left their poop everywhere. Canadian Geese are migratory birds and protected by treaty, so they just can't be shot. Then the powers that be started spraying their nests with oil so the eggs would not hatch. Congress exempts itself from many of the laws that we have to obey. After all, they are the masters and having to obey such pesky laws such as insider trading laws would crimp their ability to profit from legislation that they are passing.; 7/16/22, 7:47 AM
