I get an email newsletter from NYT.
This morning:
"And as strange as it may sound, a weakening economy could help further reduce gas prices."

That is just so strange, so counter-intuitive.
If you get your economics from economics major AOC.

They crow about how gas is only $1.30 higher than a year ago. Blame Russia, of course. No mention of cancelled oil leases, canceled pipelines, closed refineries, Ds expressed intention to raise the price of fuels.
No mention of the price of gas when Biden took office. Just that it's done over the last 30 days.
Pitiful.

Beautiful. Love coneflowers. It's hard to take a bad photo of them. They're like the David Beckham or Megan Fox of flowers.

There's truth in that. Bad economy means less energy use including gas and diesel. People skip vacations. Businesses curtail travel. People buy less, so less to ship. All leads to more supply with less demand. And prices plunge. Remember how cheap gas got when everything shut down during the pandemic?

I remember when echinacea was touted as the natural cure-all for all manner of illnesses and was taken by lots of people to ward off viruses and etc. I wonder if it's still a thing?

Journalists: if inflation peaks and then starts falling, it does not mean people are getting « relief » from high prices. It means the pace of price increase is slowing, not that prices are falling. - @MarcLevesqueEco tweet

I noticed last night there were a few honest responses to my question as to why someone got the first two doses of the mRNA shot but did not get the CDC recommended boosters. They were all genuine, and I realize sharing a medical decision is personal. Wish our gov’t and liberals still felt that way.

I did not get the shot. Early on when it was revealed the “vaccine” was experimental mRNA there was no way. It was easy to understand it wasn’t a vaccine, especially after the CDC changed the official definition. And then admittedly, the more they insisted, the more I resisted.

Plus, the vilification of HCQ, Ivermectin, and other anti-viral therapeutics blew my trust in EVERYTHING being touted about COVID by Dems and the Media. Fauci in my mind is an evil man.

For each person, put in your body what you want. I respect that if the mRNA is a therapeutic and is advantageous to older/vulnerable populations…go get it.

But I have a HUGE problem with the liberal education establishment pushing this on children and college age kids where it is completely unnecessary, and the adverse reaction risks are greater than COVID risks. Something is not right with the kids of Generation X. Generation Z was pumped full of shit their entire childhoods. Nobody has ever come up with and explanation for the massive autism spike.

Most alarming is the denial that vaccines, or vaccine preservation has anything to do with it. A study of the ENTIRE AMERICAN VACCINE COCKTAIL injected into our kids has never been attempted. We should be careful not to stray any further from the tenants of the Nuremburg codes. They were written for damn good reasons.

I don’t believe the majority of Americans believe or trust the mRNA anymore. Thus, the massive fall-off in booster participation. They can tell us it is “safe and effective” but with our own eyes we can see that it is neither.

I know a family that has high school kids in Shorewood, WI. It’s a pretty wealthy, liberal white community in north Milwaukee. Ironically, the teenagers at Shorewood High School all lined up for boosters. They're the ones still masking. Parents tell me its a social status thing.

Sorry for the length, but of all the divisive insanity of the last 2.5 years…the mRNA shots and where we end up from here is the biggest.

Coneflowers are great here in the NE too. Blossoms last a long time. There are also quite a few varieties with different colors. I’ve planted a smattering of the fiery toned varieties in one garden and they’ve been very showy this year, thankfully. Some like to self sow but its easy enough to put them back in their proper place or give them away, or just let them be...

Aside - I wonder if the iPhone magic wand info function can id that insect, too.

someone tried to murder the republican candidate for governor of new york, by trying to stab him to death. He was apprehended and arrested.. The State of New York IMMEDIATELY released him without bail, saying "It is NOT against the law in New York to kill republicans.. The Only thing that Jakubonis did wrong, was failing in his attack"

Before the attack, Democrat governor Hochul had sent out emails alerting attackers of the event, asking that the republican be taken out. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/kathy-hochul-campaign-alerted-supporters-lee-zeldin-events-before-attempted-attack

Gusty? The ONLY reason i got the "vaccine" was because my father was dying (no covid.. Just 92 years old with a shot heart and lungs (and cancer.. But the cancer never had a chance: WAY too slow); and the only way they'd let me be with him if i had my papers (just like nazi germany, just like the ussr)
Unfortunately, my dad passed on before the booster craze got really going. Not having to get the booster(s) was the only good thing that happened last year.

It's Interesting, that the whole "vaccine" craze is STILL going on (for troops, and students, and i don't know what else). It's a "vaccine" that
doesn't keep you from getting infected
doesn't keep you from infecting others
is "supposed" to make your case be less severe
seems to make you MORE Likely to get infected
tends to f*cking kill you
does Lord Knows what to your genes
none the less, is Still f*cking REQUIRED in large parts of the country

Gusty-
I'm 70ish, work in a hospital with lots of exposure to people sick, some very sick, with the virus. I got sick with it summer of 2020, did not need hospitalization but was on steroids and blood thinners for a month. When the vaccines came out late 2020, most of my peer group lined up immediately. I hesitated for a couple of months to let the early adopters test it, then got the 2 shots early 2021.
I've continued to have heavy exposure to people sick with virus and take reasonable precautions- N95 when in the room with virus patients, but I have not boosted, and have been perfectly healthy since then.
Why no booster? I don't trust them. I have seen several people with bad reactions to the boosters. The various versions of the virus are ever so less dangerous as time goes on, and the vaccines are therefore less useful, but no less hinky with respect to unusual adverse effects such as inflammation and clots.
Why don't I trust them? As you mentioned, people with questions don't get their questions answered, they get demonized. They get gaslighted as crazies, bigots, or worse.
I see a parallel with the 2020 elections. Nobody even makes a effort to explain why the voting stopped at midnight and then resumed after the R folks left, or why it was necessary to violate existing laws about how to run elections. They say we're crazy, racists, bigots, and phobics for wanting our questions answered.
My spouse, who shares my politics but not my paranoia, never got sick, and did take one booster in addition to the 2 initial jabs. Her exposure to sick people is much less than mine, FWIW.
Sorry for the length and density of this post.

I can appreciate that and what you wrote. I can appreciate everyone's reasons. I don't pass judgment on people who took whatever amount of shots. There was A LOT of lies and life altering pressure being applied. There still is. Being locked out of seeing loved one's was one of the most evil. There was also trust that it was a vaccine when first released. I have trust issues.

Admittedly I was not under pressure. I'm in the manufacturing supply chain, basically a glorified ditch digger, so they needed us to keep working or the lights go out in Madison, WI. Most we ever did was put some hand sanitizer by the time clocks. Nobody cared.

I do however, pass shitloads of judgement on people who push these unnecessary injections upon young people, or convince them they actually need it without informing them of the risks. Also included on my mRNA shitlist are people in power who have become medical totalitarians. Biden's "winter of death" Christmas warning to the "unvaccinated" was satanic. Justin Trudeau is Burgermeister Meisterburger. He'll take away your toys and your ability to leave your country.

My assumption is the waning booster participation is a sign people are now awake and resisting. Sadly, for many teenagers, because of teachers unions and woke peer pressure, the mRNA shot is a status / virtue signal. Too bad they just can't go back to smoking pot.

...and there's truth in observing there's truth in that. The big problem: there's incredible household pain between here and there. Marginal households don't have room to just cut back on some discretionary spending and be comfortable...and there's a growing consensus this will be a deep, prolonged recession of the kind we haven't seen for a few generations, not the accustomed quarter or two of growth flat to slightly down...

Those recent quotes from Jason Furman will cement him in history as the new face of economic evil. Move over Gordon Gekko...

Dr. Deborah Birx says she 'knew' COVID vaccines would not 'protect against infection'

DR. BIRX: I knew these vaccines were not going to protect against infection. And I think we overplayed the vaccines, and it made people then worry that it's not going to protect against severe disease and hospitalization. It will. But let's be very clear: 50% of the people who died from the Omicron surge were older, vaccinated.

Gusty Winds,

As I said in that other post, I finally got the booster b/c some venues in OR still require you to be up-to-date on your vaxxes. However, this shot, unlike the first two, comes equipped with side effects. I woke up this morning and needed a roll of TP, and when ripping the package open with my left hand, I felt some serious pain in that arm. Now, that arm is still broken after 3-plus years, and it felt as though the bones had realigned themselves badly or something. And then I remembered that, duh, I'd been vaccinated in that arm just yesterday.

My husband got the first booster long before I did (he has some gigs, and I don't b/c arm!), and he said, yeah, you'd better be prepared for a few days of punkiness :-(
