Not sure if I'm more surprised that Lee Greenwood pulled out of the NRA convention or that Don McLean was playing there at all. https://t.co/3fn6gnpqYG

Lee Greenwwod? Don McLean?
Incredible acts fifty years ago.
Yesterday they were playing the coffee bar at the Breezy Acres retirement home.
Just seeing their names tells you everything you need to know about the moribund NRA and the Republican party.
Apparently Greenwood isn't so proud to be an American because he would like to be less free.
"While I agree with most of the positions held by the NRA, I have come to believe that, while background checks would not stop every madman with a gun, it is at the very least a step in the right direction toward trying to prevent the kind of tragedy we saw this week in Uvalde— in my beloved, weeping TEXAS," Gatlin said in a statement.
What background check did the shooter not pass?
You have the microphone, Larry. Skip the public emoting and platitudes and tell us how to fix the system.
Blame law abiding gun owners! Always. Amen.
Not our useless FBI - who are happy to shake down anyone with a Biden family diary.
but this? Nah. FBI got NO time for this.
Doesn't Don McLean have some #MeToo problems in his past?
Pulled out before of bad PR. Remember how Heston got criticized for holding a NRA convention after Columbine? The real question - why is the NRA paying ancient boomers to play music?
The liberal/left owns the microphone. So every shooting, ends up being a discussion of GUNS and the NRA. the Liberal/left hates the NRA because its almost the only Center-right nonprofit that is effective in turning elections. Harvey weinstein, when he was struggling to keep his position, tweeted about giving $millions to fight the NRA. I thought Heard gave money to fight the NRA, but no, she just gave it to the ACLU.
I'm curious (not really) how the question would be phrased by CNN to those who are performing yet choose not to comment:
"What kind of sick bastard are you that makes you want to play music for a terrorist organization while they kill kids?"
Ted Nugent is tanned, rested, and ready!
Stupid idiots on the wrong side of history. Guns are becoming more popular, because, more and more, governments refuse to protect their people from violence. The Dems, the left, are trying to compensate for this by othering those supporting gun rights. But many have realized that it is better to be armed, othered, and alive, than beaten, killed, and accepted in the community of right thinking sheeple. There is a lot of cognitive dissonance in the Dems supporting AntiFA and BLM, while pushing gun control. It turns into rank, very visible, hypocrisy when they surround themselves with armed security. From the outside, they look like they believe that their lives, and only their lives, are valuable. Of course, they try to get around this by turning fentanyl OD casualty George Floyd into a gun violence victim. But then ignore the tens of thousands of blacks dying every year at the hands of other blacks.
This isn’t an NRA issue.
In my opinion.
NRA members aren’t shooting up schools.
What all is causing it is the f/king slippery slope.
“"While I agree with most of the positions held by the NRA, I have come to believe that, while background checks would not stop every madman with a gun, it is at the very least a step in the right direction toward trying to prevent the kind of tragedy we saw this week in Uvalde— in my beloved, weeping TEXAS," Gatlin said in a statement.”
Guess what? We already have background checks. Very often, these shooters legally acquired their firearms(the handgun was not legally acquired) through a legal sale through a FFL, after successfully passing a background check. This latest shooter passed his background check, but shouldn’t have, due to mental health issues. The police usually know in advance who these shooters are, and that they are dangerous, and the FBI often do. Doesn’t matter. That information isn’t in the databases used for background checks.
What’s esp egregious about the FBI knowing this information, is that for most people, they are the ones doing the background checks. Of course, the claim not to have them resources, because they have been tasked to destroy the MAGA movement, by spying on and blackmailing Trump’s inner circle, investigating and jailing the 1/6 peaceful protesters, and instigating white nationalist plots. Crooked Hillary’s lawyer, Sussman, in trial right now for lying to the FBI, may skate because the FBI top brass knew all along that the Alpha Bank allegations were manufactured by the Clinton campaign, but pretended to believe that they were legitimate, because they were trying to take out Trump.
'Doesn't Don McLean have some #MeToo problems in his past?'
Everything I've read points to him as being one of the biggest, entitled assholes on the planet.
Not sure why the NRA, let alone anyone, would want to associate with him.
Well did Don and the others who pulled out return the money for the gig?
That goddamn NRA injecting agency into firearms.
I'm 100% pro 2nd amendment.
That said- having a gun convention is tacky.
I am a life member of the NRA. It has had lots of internal problems the last few years, including bankruptcy last year, so the stuff about the big bad NRA bribing politicians is crap. It is a successful civil rights organization.
Rcocean, Amber Heard pledged to give half of her divorce settlement to the ACLU. She admitted in court she has not actually paid any money to the group.
The NRA has devolved into something rather similar to BLM.
btw- the police standing outside of elementary school for over an hour - while wholesale slaughter takes place...

I remember reading about him strumming someone’s pain and doing some soft killing.
But when you consider that during the hour those kids were getting shot, another 1000 or so were getting aborted, it seems fairly clear that we are talking about PR, not pangs of conscience.
Neither is a lonely teenaged bronkin' buck anymore, but both are out of luck.
I credit them with not wanting to join the mob, but join them in recognizing that the timing isn't right.
We don't cancel rap concerts whenever there are black on black shootings.
If we did, there wouldn't be any rap concerts.
