"It was probably somewhat naive of her not to realise that this is indeed 'an ideology’ and one with which you’re simply not allowed to disagree."

"It is quite chilling to witness first hand how this ideology operates and grows... It was the whispered and frequent use of the terms transphobe and transphobic during that after-school activity that alerted me to the depressing fact that these girls were going along with the narrative that our heretic was, as far as they were concerned, indeed a heretic — and that she was thoroughly deserving of the roasting that she had just received before caving in and running off in a panicked and hyperventilating state."

Said an unnamed teacher, quoted in "JK Rowling defends girl 'driven out of school for questioning trans ideology'" (London Times).

Said the girl: "It made me think I was mad... Otherwise how could people turn on me so bitterly?"

She said she never uttered anything transphobic but felt that some teachers were less inclined to believe her because the other pupils made joint accusations. The pupil said she was in effect forced to quarantine in the library instead of spending time in the sixth-form centre.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Religion will emerge no more than one generation after scientists or Communists or new ideologies purge the old, traditional, universalist beliefs from any culture.

The dangerous thing is that the green/woke/trans ideology is so incredibly naïve and utopian that it's on course for Spanish Inquisition level madness. It has already reached French Revolution madness, but with social cancellation rather than the guillotine.

I was just listening to a podcast (presented by two very woke women) about "The Third Wave," an unauthorized experiment a teacher carried out in his high school history class in the late '60s. The kids were learning about Nazis and expressed skepticism that anyone would fall for something so transparently evil. So the teacher undertook to turn them all into Nazis by another name - the Third Wave - by dint of telling them they could all be part of a new social movement, writing slogans on the chalkboard, teaching them a special secret salute with which to greet one another in the halls, assigning a couple of them to keep tabs on the rest (which of course got all of them to inform on one another), and so forth. A detail the narrator left out at first was that apparently the smart and popular kids were asked to leave the classroom first, leaving the second-tier kids feeling as if they could suddenly grow up into the sunlight.

Of course these women saw the story as a cautionary tale about Trumpism (and saw themselves and their side as the smart and popular kids; the story does not make clear whether these kids eventually joined up too, or - as I'm sure these women believed - became part of the Resistance, which the story does acknowledge existed, though in a minority). They emphatically did not see how it could apply to their own side.

I have doubts about the veracity of the account; the teacher claims he transformed a significant fraction of the students - and possibly the principal, who greeted him in the teachers' lounge with the same salute on Day 3 - in one school week. But obviously such transformations do happen, and it's worthwhile to try to understand the mechanisms.

And this is why, while I don't like the anti-this, anti-that rhetoric I hear from some quarters of the MAGAverse, I stick to the side whose mainstream (including most of us Trump voters, no matter what CNN may say) is for individual freedom to live as we want as long as we're not infringing on another's rights. (With a definition of rights that doesn't include the "right" not to be offended, criticized, or challenged.)

Will the prospect of trans recruitment in public schools, irreversible surgery leading to a lifetime without an orgasm for overwhelmed autistic kids, daily reports of sexual relationships with trusted adult teachers to the point it has become a meme, and open institutional acceptance of pedophilia to pre-K level children get conservatives to the polls to fight against the edublob/DNC complex? War. Total war. It what's for breakfast this election.

How do you create a "Rodney King situation" for those who are rooted in traditional values?

The shocking thing to me about all of the progressive agenda is the relentless nature of it. It started in the darkness and when publicized, I expected it to slink away with a combination of embarrassment and public humiliation. But it just doesn't stop. From the trans lunacy, CRT, BLM, Eco-Insanity, Mask/Vaccine nonsense and beyond, even when laughed at and legal pushback occurs, it still just doesn't stop. I know there is an entrenched bureaucracy that needs these platforms to stay alive to support themselves, but is that really enough to tie all of these things together independently with the tenacity of a pit bull? It does make one wonder s there someone pulling the strings behind of of them? It's easy to scream Soros but, to me, this is bigger than that. I mean really, none of these things have anything in common but they all seem to reinforce each other.

There's an excellent podcast called Heretic in which Jordan Peterson and Bari Weiss talk about their ordeals at the hands of the wokists in Canada and at the NYT. I've been watching it is segments while I do the dishes for months now after first watching the whole thing. It takes a long time to absorb what these two have to say because they have had time to reflect and try to comprehend and they have such good minds and training and education. And they were pushed (or did they jump) from such high places. One, Jordan Peterson, was at University of Toronto, the premier university of Canada and my own alma mater. The other, Bari Weiss, was editor of the op-ed page at the NYT. She resigned because she felt she wasn't being allowed to present diverse views but only The View from Diversity Inc., NYT City Edition, although she was hired to do true diversity and although she herself thought that true diversity was necessary. She wrote a widely disseminated letter on her resignation. I like this podcast because the two are talking in an exploring way but talking on a serious subject: on why both lost and/or gave up successful careers to face instead accusations of "heretic;" and on what this heresy (free speech, free thought) is about; and on why it mattered so much to them. Just the way they talk, circling and eddying because they are listening to each other, is worth study, let alone the subject matter, let alone conclusions they've reached.

Per an article in Instapundit today, US public schools lost 1.2 million students since 2021 school year. That is only going to keep growing until all that is left is the Teachers Union members and their kids. And I’m betting Randi Weingaten’s kids did not go to public schools.

Thank you, Can of Cheese for the links about this mother's experience. In Oregon we've had some stories about parents discovering school hijinks of this order over the last couple of years.

We need an Anti-Fascist Movement that takes over Academia now, Occupy Universities, locate the education buildings, sack them and burn them down.

Very reminiscent of East Germany and Russia before the fall of communism. In the end, the children of those who set up the surveillance state did not want to live in such a society because they saw what it did to their parents. It’s a major reason why the communist regime fell so fast, it was well-parodied in Goodbye Lenin, a hilarious movie.

This is really getting to the point where what used to be an Onion headline is now reality. Three middle school students in the Kiel, WI, school district, are being investigated for Title IX violations for “not using proper pronouns”. This means that this crap has filtered down to the heartland of America where I had thought common sense still ruled. My sister lived in this school district and sent her son there because it 2 decades ago because it had a great reputation for education. The Kiel School District superintendent, Brad Ebert, had been my son’s middle school principal a decade ago (in a different school district than Kiel) and I thought highly of him as an administrator with common sense and fairness. I have no idea why he has embraced the trans ideology and chose to go after these 3 students. I am glad that the parents of these three students are fighting back against this woke ideology as it appears that the citizens heartland is our country’s last hope to combat it as those in urban areas has embraced it with a gusto that borders on insanity. The link below is the letter sent by the attorneys for the 3 students sent to the school district about the district violating the students’ 1st Amendment rights.

Then they came for the people... persons of female sex and feminine gender, the mothers of "our Posterity", selectively excluded with social progress. And, NOW, they come for the trans/homosexual females, who no longer represent the unique leverage they once did. The transgender spectrum was normalized under the ethical model of politically congruence ("="). How did they miss the diverse precedents?

Oh my God. Kids have falsely accused other kids whom got punished since like forever man. Transphobia wrong think is just the new spitball.

But the difference - Howard and other "it's just mean girls" commenters - is in the "crime" of which this kid is being accused. Everyone could and did agree that spitting a spitball at another student was wrong. Not everyone agrees that whole-hearted and full-thrusted doorbell of kids "coming out as trans" in school is a social good.

Transphobia isn't "the new spitball." Transphobia is in fact the new Wrongthink: an opinion unsanctioned and in fact disallowed by the Powers That Be, without any evidentiary requirement on the part of those powers.

Jamie म्हणाले...

And I should have put "transphobia" in quotes in my prior comment, because it's not at all a fear of transexual or transgender people.
