I'm café-ing out early.

Here's today's sunrise pic (from 6:11):

Write about whatever you like in the comments. My plan is to put the computer to sleep and snuggle up with the movie that came in the mail today, "Unfaithfully Yours."

ADDED: “If it was me, I'd never have them tailed. I'd just be grateful for whatever they was willing to give me — a year… a week… an hour….”

"Biden said Macron did not take his congratulatory call, talked to staff instead..."

Macron has done his own 25th amendment, it would seem.

I was thinking 1984. You were thinking 1948.

Preston Sturges was supposed to be a genius, and as a Man of the Twenties I always check in on Rudy Vallee, but I'm allergic to that shitheel Rex Harrison. I suppose it is better than the Barry Levinson/Dudley Moore/Nastassia Kinski version though.

"Since last Thursday, we have been working with Child Protective Services to determine what happened in that case," Barnes said. "It's important to note that in that process the older children who were not here at this time were not here because our officers made arrangements to have those children stay with the grandparents."

"Giles was not at the apartment when police arrived on Thursday, and Barnes said that had he been there, he would have been arrested on an outstanding state Department of Corrections warrant.

While an MLB umpire's union protects the repeated incontrovertible incompetence of an umpire like Angel Hernandez, Congresswoman AOC, along with Bernie Sanders, unionize an Amazon Wherehouse in Staten Island NY.

We don't have that much left folks.

The amish driving their buggies on the highways is extremely dangerous for them, it's almost the same as being stopped. I try to remember that there could be one around the curve when I'm driving those country roads. You really have to be aware, per the signs.

"Fatal crash claims life of local Amish woman
KSP Report - On Saturday, April 23 at approximately 6:51pm (CST), Kentucky State Police Post 3 received a call for service in reference to an injury collision in Hart County. Troopers responded to the scene located in the area of 6853 Hardyville Road in the Hardyville community.
Preliminary investigation revealed a white Chevrolet truck being driven by Brandon Polson, age 33 of Hardyville, was traveling westbound on KY-88 when it struck a black buggy in the rear being operated by Robert Miller, age 45 of Munfordville, also traveling westbound. A passenger, Edna Mae Miller, age 44, was ejected from the buggy as a result of the collision. She was transported from the scene to TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation is being led by Trooper Michael Wathen. He was assisted on scene by other KSP personnel, Hart County EMS, the Hart County Sheriffs Office and the Hardyville Fire Department."

Kenosha Parks Commission to consider request for memorial honoring Anthony Huber in Rittenhouse shooting

..contacted at the number listed on the application, Gittings said she did not think it was reasonable to expect her to offer comment without first knowing the angle of the story.

A Kenosha native, Huber was an avid skateboarder with a "quick wit and comedic personality," according to his obituary. Wisconsin court documents show that Huber was convicted of domestic abuse and disorderly conduct in 2018, and he also served a prison stint in 2012 for choking his brother.

WTF story about Paul Auster's son and granddaughter last week.

Addiction and tragedy happen in the best of families, if that's what they were.

Preston Sturges' "Sullivan's Travels" has a scene -- the hero, a bigshot Hollywood director, is mistakenly incarcerated, miserable, and watches a hilarious cartoon with the other prisoners -- that I still remember. The value of entertainment and laughter over self-important dreck is genius, and Sturges knew it back in 1941.

We've been digging into the odd corners of Netflix lately and have found a number of foreign films and series that are just magnificent. Last night we started a Turkish submarine apocalypse show -- haha! -- and it grabbed us right away.

Washington State has the stupidest pols. They decided that 'Marijuana' is racist. It has been removed from all laws and replaced with 'cannabis'. Both Democrats and Republicans voted to make the change.

On Joe Rogan's recent talk with Douglas Murray, they talked about the documentary Wild Wild Country. I wasn't interested enough to watch it when it came out a few years ago, but Rogan and Murray convinced me to watch the mini-series about the Bhagwan Rajneesh cult in Oregon.

Are better looking people attracted to cults? The people in the cult were much better looking than the people in the town of Antelope, or in any normal town.

The cult seemed like fun, but nobody seemed worried about their future. Around high school, I started thinking that I'd need a way to support myself and attain some financial security. I had great parents, but I knew that they expected me to become independent eventually. The people in the cult seemed like they all had trust funds. Later on, they picked up a bunch of homeless people. I wonder what happened to them.

After four years of building this cult compound, doing a bunch of unbelievably shady stuff and being hectored by law enforcement, nothing much happened to the people involved.

There’s a video showing a lot of similarities between Amber Heard and the woman who played victim in the movie “Gone Girl”. It’s uncanny.

A bit of a silver lining that so many people are following the JD vs Heard trial in the heals of the Oscar night incident. I’m short, this is how scores are settled. This is the civilized way.

After creating a new Twitter account a couple of months ago, and suddenly, after the first week or so when it was normal, I could go for a week or more without any notifications, and had only 2 followers. Suddenly today I added three followers and have a lot more likes, comments, and retweets.

I don't look for. followers, BTW, but it seemed like nobody was seeing my Tweets until today.

Johnny Depp is my 5th cousin 1X removed so I have to root for him. But let's face it- they're both batshit crazy, but Amber moreso. On the hot/crazy matrix she's right at the top right corner. I've only seen her in Aquaman. It was enough exposure for me to determine she cannot act, but is put in purely for visual appeal.

I'm not following the Depp-Heard case, but my GF is, so I have some exposure. It's amazing to me how far people with public profile and money will go to allow themselves to be humiliated just to prove that they are better than the other. And then it occurred to me that there is an entire political party based on the premise.

What investigations?

You mean election fraud? What's on earth is there to find at Mar-A-Lago?
OTOH election fraud is hardly "an exceedingly rare problem", well, very likely it is for candidates who aren't Democrats. So please, investigate Democrat election fraud, but for sure you won't find it at Mar-A-Lago.

Not so much that, but it's more about Madison's defund cops/no cash bail/catch-and-release judicial system.
