At the Sunrise Café...

.... you can talk about whatever you want.

And here's the photo Meade took of me:

The dramatic clouds quickly resolved into a clear, very sunny day, with a high temperature of 67. And we saw the first sign of the trout lilies, as we enter the second month of spring.

Remember the post cold-war peace dividend? (Not the peace train. The peace train was post Vietnam.)

Right now, Washington has a post covid19 power surplus.

The fact that it is there, at Biden's disposal, is both, frightening and a blessing at the same time.

A blessing because, I don't know if Biden is even aware enough to sense it, but, if he does, a war with Russia is closer than anybody imagines.

Lovely. A toast to the 2nd month of Spring. We had 22 this morning which warmed up to 50.
Those pics are very awesome.

My daughter is stuck in the Joe Biden traffic mess. It appears that Biden will be visiting Howard Schulz in the Madison Park area.

I simply can't imagine chatting with Joe, and thinking "Yeah, where's my checkbook!!"

This morning turned out to be a beautiful morning. Raining on the way out to Tokul Acres (near Snoqualmie), then just cloudy and eventually sunny. I had to shed my winter clothes as the morning grew warmer, eventually just shirt sleeves.

I'm moving our water controller and pressure tank out to the well head. The effort is about two thirds done. The pump house base, back wall and left side wall are installed and the plumber finished replumbing the pressure tank. The electrician will return to install the pressure controller tomorrow, then I'll finish assembling the pump house. The subcomponents of the pump house are already built, it's just a matter of installing and fastening them together.

We should have water again tomorrow after everything is complete.

It was chilly and wet last night and very warm today. Too warm, too early, if you ask me.
OTOH I'm wearing short pants for the first time this year, and may not wear big boy pants again until October or so.

The yard guy was supposed to come yesterday for the first cut and trim of the season, but it was too wet. He may be here tomorrow and it'll be interesting to see how much more he has to charge, for gas if nothing else.

The dead weeds and wildflowers just leave an ugly tangle among the good grasses, but it will all present as green soon.

Chechen Fighters Executed 3 Russian Troops Who Rebelled Against Ukraine War, Official Says

https://www.thedailybeast.com/chechen-fighters-executed-3-russian-troops-who-rebelled-against-ukraine-war-official-says

This information, if true, might usefully be disseminated to Russian citizens on the fence about Putin's "Special Military Operation" in Ukraine because (for various reasons) the (Islamic) Chechens are likely still regarded by Russians as scum:

Chechen separatists storm Russian school

On September 1, 2004, an armed gang of Chechen separatist rebels enters a school in southern Russia and takes more than 1,000 people hostage. The rebels demanded the withdrawal of Russian troops from the disputed nearby region of Chechnya.

September 1 was the first day of a new school year for millions of students across Russia, a day of celebration in schools that both parents and students traditionally attend. Nearly 340 people, about half of them children, died in the ensuing three-day ordeal.

So, it was more than convenient for Putin that the individuals arrested for the murder of Boris Nemtsov were Chechens.

However, "According to Bellingcat analysis, Nemtsov was followed prior to the assassination by the same FSB team that would subsequently follow Vladimir Kara-Murza, Dmitry Bykov and Alexei Navalny before their suspected poisonings.[49]"

Tokul Acres

I've ridden bicycles on the Snoqualmie Valley trail. The trail rides around three sides of the Snoqualmie Valley Rifle Club.

Firearms are a lot louder when they are discharged in your general direction.

A parade of lions, lionesses, and their [unPlanned] cubs playing in gay abandon... full of joy, merry; light-hearted, and carefree, who can object?

Disney needs to lose his, her, its religion, and curb its homophobia, its transgender conversion therapy delivered to underage, often captive, audiences. #HateLovesAbortion

3 Russian Troops Who Rebelled Against Ukraine War

They ostensibly rebelled against standing with Ukrainians to end the Biden/Maidan/Slavic Spring, a coup without cause, a war without borders, in the catastrophic Obama world Spring series from Tripoli to Cairo to Damascus to Kiev, Baghdad, and Kabul, too, that started eight years ago, and two years under the Zelensky regime, in progress. Concern for Ukrainian lives and welfare under nearly a decade, 40 trimesters, military and paramilitary axis attacking civilians, denial of essential services, and disenfranchisement, is overwhelming. Harris's affirmation of NATO inclusion, and illicit Wuhan-style labs, as well.

It's usually much warmer in South Carolina by this time but we've barely been able to break into the upper 60s this past week. Weird. Must be that global cooling, or something.

The Snoqualmie Valley Trail is about a 10 or 15-minute hike down the hill. The trail comes out just east of where the stream flows down the hill to the trail. That stream runs through our property. It shifted its bed onto the trail that leads down to the old logging roads.

Would you believe that the following was printed in Rupert Murdoch's New York Post today?

Two fraudsters who ripped off donors of a fundraising campaign that purportedly sought to collect money for a wall along the southern US border during Donald Trump’s presidency pleaded guilty Thursday for their roles in the scam.

The swindlers, Brian Kolfage and Andrew Badolato, each copped to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud during a remote hearing before Judge Analisa Torres in Manhattan federal court.

Kolfage also pleaded guilty making false statements on tax returns to hide from the IRS the hundred of thousands of dollars he siphoned off from the GoFundMe campaign, which was dubbed “We Build the Wall.”

Former Trump White House chief strategist Steven [sic] Bannon was charged alongside Kolfage, Badolato and another suspect, Timothy Shea, but was pardoned by the former president in the last days of his administration.

So TFG thought it was perfectly acceptable for Bannon to rip off weak-minded Trump loyalists. "What's good for the goose . . ."

A good female friend of Glenn Loury tries to bring him back to the left youtube.

Loury doesn't use what would be the best argument if he'd allow it, that affirmative action positively makes dignity unattractive compared to victimhood. So is itself the worst enemy of blacks. Say if blacks' average IQ actually is noticeably lower than others, so it's a permanent loss of dignity to a large part of the black population. As the experience of the last 50 years suggests.

As opposed to finding a use for good character, which does not depend on IQ.
