You know with all the financial institutions and countries putting the squeeze on Putin.
Why, even his virtual mother was casting aspersions… and notorious people calling him shorty.

shouldn’t somebody start a go-fund-me for Putin?

Is it really his fault that he bit more than he could chew?

He made a mistake. Who hasn’t?

Politifact is spreading COVID misinformation. Of COURSE vaccination promotes viral evolution. That is not even mildly debatable as a scientific principle. More vaccinations = more selective pressure. More selective pressure = more mutations. Every single variant--every single variant without exception--originated in the body of someone who either caught and recovered from COVID or received a vaccine.

Professor, will you be live-blogging the SOTU address this evening? I'm expecting a rather predictable, slow and somber speech with few stand-up-and-clap moments. I always enjoy your perspective and what you choose to comment on...

I don't know if your question about what started the Cuban Missile Crisis is real or rhetorical, Tim, but just in case it's real, the US positioned missiles in Turkey and Italy, and the USSR retaliated by moving missiles to Cuba. Then it became a game of chicken.

Russian propaganda says Putin told Trump he would use nukes.

No way that happened.

Went into a woke store (which has excellent fruits and vegetables, carefully selected and handled, thank you, wokies) which has always required masks. A few days ago it had a sign announcing it was in a high covid area. Today, no masks needed. The CDC definitions of "high covid" changed and - PING - no masks needed. I didn't suffer from cognitive dissonance because this is what I have come to expect from the CDC and because I read the science a year or more ago. But I felt for those earnest souls in the store who buy so well locally and who cherish my fruit and vegetables so carefully - and who masked just as carefully and earnestly and whose understandings have been so rudely shocked and whose efforts have been dumped. "It's only government bureaucrats," I want to tell them. "Learn to be a little skeptical." But I'm afraid they'll start buying from the Chicago markets and dropping and bruising the fruit if they become skeptical and disillusioned. I say nothing.

Will the Minority Leader, Kevin McCarthy, stand and tear up Biden’s speech tonight at the STOU?

Or will Nancy do it for him?

When will Putin stop slapping Biden around? It’s sad to watch the old man stand there not knowing what’s going on.

The SOTU should be like an early bird special starting at 4:30, so the Resident can be in bed by 8:00 p.m.

Meaning, remember what we were told caused the Cuban Missile crisis?

What I do remember is buying twelve items, staples, at the grocery store today cost me $60.

1 green pepper: $1.69
2 medium onions: 1.89 ea
1 loaf bread: 2.89
1 gallon milk: 4.15
1 dozen factory eggs: 2.69
on and on-

I would bet that Joe Biden will hold together for his speech. I believe there are drugs which can stimulate for that much time a person is who failing mentally. But, when you use them, the person is depleted for long time after. So Biden'll be even more useless afterward than he was before. And his administration is filled with identity picks, useless incompetents who can't handle changed and dangerous circumstances and won't acknowledge how little they know. But this should reassure Vladimir Putin whose Army is being revealed as filled with that kind of protected incompetence - the actual chosen identity here and there being left-sycophant. So: "C'mon man, ditch the nukes, fear not, we're on a level, bro. Just ask for pallets of cash in exchange for oil, and let the whole trouble slide away on a grease wave."

Covid-19, 20, 21, or 22? All of the above.

Vaccines, no. Non-sterilizing primers, yes. Viral pathway, mutagenic treatments, yes.

I just read an article along these lines entitled:

Emergence of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron likely due to immune selective pressure

Wow, I thought, Triple D is right about this selective pressure and mutations stuff.

And then I came to the last paragraph:

"Research Square publishes preliminary scientific reports that are not peer-reviewed and, therefore, should not be regarded as conclusive, guide clinical practice/health-related behavior, or treated as established information."

In my own limited world, all my friends who have had two sticks and a booster have avoided catching the dangerous SARS-CoV-2 virus - no matter which mutation is dominant. And having invested about one hour of my time in staying safe, I believe that that is all that matters when the rubber hits the road.

Yeah, I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962 because that was two weeks after going on active duty for ROTC Officer Training in the Army.

On the other hand, the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion occurred in April 1961.

The US Army (Eisenhower) and then later the CIA(Kennedy) planned an invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs. The plan required air support to keep the Cuban army from wiping out the invasion force on the beach. Kennedy nixed the air support. The CIA went ahead with the invasion, hoping to shame Kennedy into authorizing the air support. Didn't happen.

The problem was unity of command. The invasion force should have had its own organic air support and not rely on someone else. The invasion should have been planned by someone who could have authorized both the sea invasion and air support. It should have never gone forward without both authorized.

My daughter is getting 70 doelings, just born- traveling 2 1/2hrs one way to pick up around a dozen e/trip. One of her pregnant does kidded yesterday and had a premie the size of a cat so I’m trying my best to keep it alive. My youngest daughter’s cat had kittens and isn’t the greatest mom- plus her boyfriend’s 30yr old cat died today.

1st world problems… the baby goat’s eyes aren’t even opened yet. Idk if it will survive. Feeding it about every 4hrs…

Interesting comment from Russel Brand's YouTube channel

Thank you Russel! As a Ukrainian who lived most of his life in the US I believe you did a great job explaining both sides of the conflict. It is infuriating that NATO and EU were heavily involved in the change of the regime to install pro-Western government in 2014 and when Ukrainians needed them to stand up to Putin they abandoned us to fight on our own. Bottom line is, the war is never an answer and both Russia and West is responsible for creating this conflict!

At long last, a very serious punishing sanction:

Vladimir Putin stripped of his taekwondo black belt over Ukraine invasion

"...In this regard, World Taekwondo has decided to withdraw the honorary 9th dan black belt conferred to Mr. Vladimir Putin in November 2013," the governing body said."

Putin is among several people who have been awarded the honorary belt. Other 9th dan black belt holders include former U.S. President Barack Obama..."

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/vladimir-putin-stripped-taekwondo-black-belt-ukraine-invasion/?intcid=CNI-00-10aaa3b

Obama ALSO should be stripped of his black belt, especially for acting like such a wimp in 2014:

"...President Obama’s dithering — issuing vapid warnings that Putin laughed off and refusing to provide the Ukrainian military with arms to defend themselves. Eli Lake added more details: Among the defensive assets our government has denied Ukraine is “radar jamming and detection equipment necessary to evade and counter [Russian] anti-aircraft systems” — like the system Putin’s unlawful combatants had used to shoot down Flight
17."

The Kiev 2014 coup continues to pay dividends and provide a masterful cover-up of Obama, Biden, McCain's backing of the violent overthrow ("Slavic Spring") of the EU-certified democratically elected government. Democracy dies in darkness. Demos-cracy is aborted at the Twilight Fringe.
