The judge should make a referral of prosecutorial misconduct to the Office of Lawyer Regulation.

Original Mike said...

Glad, and somewhat surprised, that the jury had the courage. Wouldn't want to be them.

Howard said...

Congrats. You guys were right, it's self defense. It's disappointing to me he wasn't punished for his bad decision making, although he is being punished so that will have to do.

Interesting if it impacts the self defense claims in the Ahmaud Arbery case.

Chris Lopes said...

Now we'll get to see riots for three violent criminals who would have been just as happy to beat Jacob Blake to death had life given them the opportunity.

Ice Nine said...

Thank god. The concept of self-defense in America (Wisconsin at least) has been preserved. It would have, practically speaking, ceased to exist if there had been a guilty verdict in this godawful, ginned-up murder case in which self-defense was so manifestly clear.

Dave Begley said...

I knew the good people of Wisconsin would reach the right result. Good common sense.

But the County Attorney should lose the next election. And fire all the assistants who worked on this case.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow…. I am more glad today than at any time since the day Trump beat Hillary Clinton.

Yancey Ward said...

Shorter Howard- it is unfortunate Rittenhouse didn't at least take a severe beating that night.

William said...

WEll, that's a relief. I was afraid that one lone juror would hold out for acquittal and we would have to live through it all again....The lone juror would be offered a position in Biden's DOJ or maybe tenure at YLS....Justice was sort of done, but Rittenhouse should never have been charged and never should have had to sweat out an acquittal over three days.

Balfegor said...

Sounds about right. The first two victims (Rosenbaum and Huber) both seem to have been maniacs with a history of violence who were attacking him before he shot them. The third (Grosskreutz) seems more like a tragic event in which each party understandably believed himself in mortal danger at the moment and responded accordingly (by whipping out his illegally concealed handgun on the one hand and by lifting and firing his rifle on the other).

I still think there needs to be some investigation and perhaps discipline for the prosecutorial nonsense with the downscaled video supplied to the defense though.

Yancey Ward said...

Will be interesting to see why the jury took more than a half day to reach this obvious result.

I am surprised and good for the jury. I was very concerned that they would be intimidated by the mob.

Well done.

So happy about this verdict. The prosecutor should be punished for his behavior. Lying/Lawyer

Howard, you would have him punished for murder only because he was foolish enough to go to the riot? Get outta here; he ad just as much right to be there as everyone else.

Correct result on the law and the facts and basic common decency. Kyle is a hero. Whether or not one thinks his decision to go to Kenosha that night was too risky, he was there and extremely brave in the face of a psychotic mob trying murder him. Then he stood up against the slander of the media politicians everywhere to show everyone that he's not a criminal.

Free as Fuck.

The Media won't pay a price for their crimes past present and future in this case.

Rittenhouse was running away. Grosskreutz was running to attack.

Grosskreutz had a record, Rittenhouse was a police cadet.

I hope the police take this lesson and get any rioters or looters off the streets quickly….for everyone’s sake.

Mostly peaceful riots coming soon.

Original Mike said...

More MSNBC: "Peaceful protest", Wisconsin needs to "fix" its gun laws, and an interview outside the courthouse that makes me hope the judge has police protection.

Chris Lopes said...

"Kyle is a hero."

No. He was naive and ill advised. He walked into a trap set by the rioters and the authorities. He believed that since he was there to help people, the system would (if not support him) at least let him be. He was foolish to think so. He only won in the end (for various definitions of winning) because the system was stupid enough to show the jury how weak their case was. So no he's not a hero, just another victim of the culture war.

Tom T. said...

Waiting until Friday so that the rioters can proceed without interfering with everyone else's workweek is really quite considerate on the part of the jurors.

Bilwick said...

Rittenhouse exonerated; Stupid Left (Howard, Crack, et al) hardest hit.

Maynard said...

The jury deserves a great deal of praise.

Public opinion was against Kyle, mostly because of media lies. The tension in the city (though not at the Chauvin trial level) had to concern them. The DA was outrageously inappropriate. However, the common sense of ordinary cheeseheads prevailed.

Yancey Ward said...

And will the Garland DoJ have the good sense to not try for a federal prosecution?

MadisonMan said...

Similar to Yancey, I'm curious why it took so long. But I hope the jurors can get back to their anonymous lives, and my curiosity will not be satisfied. Not really my business.

Skippy Tisdale said...

"Interesting if it impacts the self defense claims in the Ahmaud Arbery case."

The two cases aren't even remotely related. But they would be if Arbery were to have been armed and therefore able to shoot and kill the motherfucking racist cunts that gunned him down.

Drago said...

Howard is definitely in the "sometimes you just have to take a beating, right?" camp.

We have yet to read Howard discuss anyone else's "bad decision making" that night, have we?

Care to take a shot at that Howard?

Start with problem child Gaige Grosskreutz having an illegal gun....due to his previous crimes.

You should be able to find your way forward from there........maybe.

Skippy Tisdale said...

"Let the Social Justice Riots™ begin."

But with a caveat.

BarrySanders20 said...

That whole "take your beating" argument is so strange. The mob had isolated the kid, and a crazed molester chased and cornered him. Then the mob was trying to stop him from running toward the police. Why? To kill him before he got there to safety.

Same with the "active shooter" argument. He only shot at people attacking him. How stupid do you need to be to believe that argument from Binger? As punishment he should be held down and have stupid TinTin-like flip of hair shaved off.

tim maguire said...

The process was punishment enough for his poor choices.

Interesting if it impacts the self defense claims in the Ahmaud Arbery case.

It shouldn't. He may be trying to tap into Rittenhouse's mojo, but the facts are different enough that self-defense seems like a desperation move.

Wa St Blogger said...

Twice in one day. First, people at the NYT communicate Sanity, and Howard does on Althouse. Let's not be too hard on him. That's a major step for someone usually in the tank for leftist moonbatery. Howard, I think many people agree that Kyle was foolish, but his punishment came that night with attacks and beatings enough. The stress of the after-event was cruel and unnecessary. He was 17, got in over his head and almost paid with his life. I hope he takes the lesson to heart. Many other people making foolish decisions do not survive, including people who attack another person who is holding a gun. Grosskreutz was lucky he survived his lesson.

Mike of Snoqualmie said...

Now Rittenhouse can sue the DA for violation of unlawful prosecution and deprivation of rights under the color of law. Part of the settlement should be a spanking of everyone involved in his prosecution. A dozen whacks on the fundament should impress those a-holes that the illegal prosecution has consequences, not only financial, but physical. The city would pay any financial penalties and all of those city smooks would not pay a cent.

Rittenhouse should also sue everyone who slandered him. These include the Lie-Stream Media and Joe "Don't wake me up" Biden. I'm sure there are other politicians in need of a financial reckoning. Include them too.

Skippy Tisdale said...

MSNBC payed a guy to film the jurors during trial. That media outlet should face serious legal consequences for that.

rcocean said...

Look, this never should have come to trial. And if Rittenhouse had been Antifa it wouldn't have been. Or if he'd been black.

Only a white man shooting Antifa ends up almost on death row. Good thing Rittenhouse didn't shoot the black crook who tried to jump on him. Then he'd probably be in Jail now.

The third (Grosskreutz) seems more like a tragic event in which each party understandably believed himself in mortal danger at the moment and responded accordingly (by whipping out his illegally concealed handgun on the one hand and by lifting and firing his rifle on the other).”

From a technical/legal point of view, as Branca would say, the first assailant gave up his innocence when he grabbed at Rittenhouse’s gun. Primary reason to grab a gun, in a situation like that, is to take away from the owner, and use it against them. That is when Big Mike Brown became a known violent criminal, when he tried to take Officer Wilson’s gun away from him. Under MO law (and SCOTUS precedent), that would have justified Wilson preventing his escape, even using lethal means. Wilson didn’t need that, since self defense was sufficient to get him off… It was that loss of innocence, and that threat, that allowed Rittenhouse to shoot him in justified self defense.

Hitting someone with a skateboard, and knocking him down, as was done to Rittenhouse, is more than sufficient to cause reasonable fear of death or great bodily injury, esp the way that the skateboard was swung. That assailant/victim very clearly had practiced those moves, and was very likely carrying his skateboard that night at least partially because it could be used as a weapon. Note - great bodily injury typically includes broken bones. Probably would have with me, and likely would have disabled my partner, with her bad back.

The identity of Jump Kick guy was probably hidden from the defense, because they didn’t want him testifying. Again, his actions, trying to kick Rittenhouse’s head in, reasonably threatened him with great bodily injury.

Finally, with Lefty, the 4th assailant, don’t point a gun at someone, unless you are legally privileged to do so. Lefty wasn’t. It really doesn’t matter if he was trying to prevent an escaping active shooter. The police are privileged to use deadly force in situations like that. Civilians, like Lefty are not. Of course, even if it had been a valid justification to threaten deadly force in order to essentially arrest an active shooter attempting to escape, Rittenhouse was trying to run to the police and safety. He was fully justified in shooting someone (Lefty) who pointed a gun at him. So don’t do that, unless you want a similar result.

I am sure that professional journalists soon will challenge President Biden to explain why he called Kyle Rittenhouse a "White supremacist".

Jake said...

The absolute correct result for anyone that watched all of the trial. Kyle is not a hero. The lesson here is that the government failed by not enforcing law and order. Rather, it fomented that lawlessness in pursuit of a politically expedient narrative. They are the criminals. Tony Evers and the Kenosha Mayor should be ashamed.

As for the prosecutors - Zapf, Binger and Kraus - they should be referred to the disciplinary commission for what appears to be several examples of prosecutorial misconduct. Public censure and suspension of their law licenses is appropriate. They are endowed with immense power and discretion in the pursuit of Justice not convictions. Taking liberties with an accused's right to remain silent and withholding/manipulating evidence is antithetical to their role. Their conduct truly does shed light on the reality that, in most cases, criminal defendants without the means to defend themselves are railroaded into plea bargains. The left should also condemn their conduct as it is more often than not used to incarcerate the poor and minorities unjustly.

I hope and pray that the result of this trial is not used to further sow division for political purposes. I further hope and pray the result will not embolden others to act in lawless ways. While my cynicism tells me that is naive, what more can any of us do than try to be better each and every day.

-- Not giving the name of a key witness to the defense

That's just off the top of my head...

I just read the CNN articles on the verdict. Clearly, the jury was wrong. The testimony clearly shows Rittenhouse guilty of killing these wonderful young men who were there to support BLM. Two were unarmed as they were gunned down. The third was holding the gun up in the air.

Clearly, based on the CNN reporting, the jurors are nothing but white supremacists who are OK with the murder of these wonderful young men.

Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, who is Black and a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, denounced the outcome:

“Over the last few weeks, many dreaded the outcome we just witnessed," Barnes said. "The presumption of innocence until proven guilty is what we should expect from our judicial system, but that standard is not always applied equally. We have seen so many black and brown youth killed, only to be put on trial posthumously, while the innocence of Kyle Rittenhouse was virtually demanded by the judge.”

Let the healing begin!

Robert Marshall said...

There were poor judgments all around. Kyle Rittenhouse shouldn't have put himself in that dangerous situation; there was little he could do to help those he was trying to help, and plenty of chaos that would make application of the law of self-defense very tricky.

Obviously, the people he shot showed poor judgment in attacking him. It's pretty simple: don't attack people with guns. Maybe they'll turn out to be in a mood to take a beating, like the prosecutors suggested Kyle should have been, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. They did, and they lost the bet.

The most egregious misjudgment was by the authorities, when they decided to let BLM and Antifa take the streets. While the men who attacked Kyle bear the most direct responsibility for their own deaths and injuries, the local and state authorities are responsible for the near destruction of Kenosha. Now let's see if they've learned that lesson, as the BLM/Antifa crowd gets ready for the re-match.

Congrats. You guys were right, it's self defense. It's disappointing to me he wasn't punished for his bad decision making, although he is being punished so that will have to do.

Which "bad decision making" is that?

Cleaning up the graffiti?
Wanting to provide medical help to the protestors who were trashing his father's town?
Putting out fires started by rioters?
Legally carrying a AR-15 with himself for defense? (Without which, he would be dead.)
Pointing his gun at people who were attacking him, and only firing if they didn't back off? (I certainly wouldn't ahve waited as long as he did.)
Shooting Rosenbaum before Rosie could carry out his threat to "f'in kill you if I get you alone"?
Shooting people who were trying to kill him? (Kyle was running to the cops to turn himself in. He went 2 minutes without shooting anyone, not even the people who were screaming to bash his head in. He only shot at people who are a direct immediate threat of GBI, and if he hadn't shot, he would be dead)

Antifa and BLM don't get to impose their own curfews on American cities. If your argument is that when the leftist thugs come out, everyone else must just hide in their homes and hope the leftists burn, loot, and murder someone else, you can just FOAD.

The third (Grosskreutz) seems more like a tragic event in which each party understandably believed himself in mortal danger at the moment and responded accordingly (by whipping out his illegally concealed handgun on the one hand and by lifting and firing his rifle on the other).

Bullshit.

Grosskreutz talked to Kyle, knew that Kyle was trying to turn himself into the cops. The only reason for Grosskreutz to take his illegally concealed Glock out and chase after Kyle was because he wanted to murder Kyle before Kyle could turn himself in to the safety of the police.

Grosskreutz's story about Kyle charging his guns nd that's why Grosskreutz shot him, was clear BS.

He pointed his gun towards Kyle. Kyle was faster, and pointed his rifle at Grosskreutz. Grosskreutz pretended to back off, putting his hands up. Kyle pointed his gun elsewhere.

Then Grosskreutz lowered his gun so he could try to murder Kyle. Happily, Kyle was faster, and shot him first.

In a proper world, Grosskreutz would be prosecuted for attempted murder, and be convicted and sent to jail.

If such happens again and good folk show up armed..do not be shocked if there is a repeat if the good folks are attacked. Just way to many cameras now days for bad actors to hide their acts.

Do you know when the State lost it? I mean lost it with a capital LOST. It was when Assistant Idiot James Kraus addressed the jury with that everybody takes a beating line. When I heard that I immediately recalled this scene from Goodfellas.

After decades of civil actions and legislation against corporal punishment, even such punishments imposed by parents on their disobedient children, how Kraus could possibly imagine anyone with half a brain agreeing to his proposition that a citizen of a free society must submit to an assault with intent to kill is beyond my poor powers to explain.

If James Kraus wasn't on 'shrooms during the summation he needs to start using heavily immediately.

He shouldn't have been there, that's a correct moral argument, but you are gonna hafta change criminal law through normal democratic means to read that way, including making changes to the US Constitution, if you want to convict people, rather than make bold attempts to intimidate the judge and jury into ignoring the law as written. It's a heavy lift to change the Bill of Rights for a reason.

Politics.

My hope here is, first, that Kyle Rittenhouse (and everyone else) can now start to find something like a real life again; second, that the threats of mayhem prove empty; and third (but not least) that the judge throws the book at the prosecution. They aren't fit to push a mop in the men's room.

Perhaps it is now time to investigate and prosecute Grosskreutz for assault with a deadly weapon. He did brandish and point a handgun at Kyle Rittenhouse while he was in the process of fleeing from an angry mob of people shouting "Get His Ass." And Kyle was headed towards police as he told Grosskreutz just before Grosskreutz assaulted him. And Kyle has been acquitted of all charges. If Grosskreutz has a claim of self-defense or defense of others prompting him to assault Kyle, then he can raise that trial. Though I don't know what defense he will have for committing perjury and telling a civil court that he was unarmed during the incident.

Kyle Rittenhouse, Thank you for your service.
Will they ever do an Amazon or Netflix series on the young people of today who stand up for what's right and get thrown toward the wolves? Nicholas Sandman, Kyle Rittenhouse, Trent Colbert, unknown second-year law minority students at Yale, Candace Owens, all conservative or pro-life student group members. There's a commonality in the way the media demonizes them, in the way smarmy diversity administrators threaten them, in the way leftys physically abuse them without consequences, in the way elected Democrats, even the President of The United States, feel free to be ugly toward them without evidence. And in the way the country can see through the media smoke and mirrors but the media now seem self-blinded by their own continual lying.

Is it illegal to carry a gun? No
Is it illegal to go to a riot or protest with intent to help protect life and property? No.
Is it illegal to shoot someone who chases you after behaving and speaking violently? No.
Is it illegal to shoot someone else who chases up, knocks you over and hits you in the back of the head with a skateboard? No.
Is it illegal to shoot someone who rushes up to you and points a gun at you after you've been knocked on the ground? No.

Let's do the reverse.

1. Is it illegal to trespass and damage property? Yes.
2. Is it illegal to threaten someone and chases them? Yes?
3. Is it illegal to chase someone and knock them over and hit them with a skateboard? Yes.
4. Is it illegal to rush someone after they are on the ground and point a gun (which you carried illegally) at them? Yes.

Point 2, had no excuse.
Point 3 and 4 may have believed they were pursuing an aggressor, but here's the key.THEY were the ones being the aggressor. When Kyle fled the scene they had no duty to pursue. They did it out of vengeance and vigilantism. They should have remained with the victim or protected themselves.

This should be a lesson to anyone who carries a firearm. Don't put yourself into the fray. Protect yourself and those immediately around you. Don't chase the threat if it leaves the scene.

If #4 above immediately shot Kyle after Kyle shot the first person, number 4 could make a claim self to defense. When number 4 chases Kyle, and points the gun, he's longer engaged in defense but vigilantism, which Kyle has a right to protect against.

Kyle showed judgement and restraint in who he didn't shoot. The individuals shot were trying to take justice into their own hands, first as rioters and then as law enforcement. They were wrong and paid the price on both counts.

Joe Biden was told that his initial statement accepting the verdict of the jury was incorrect and unapproved, so he has now declared himself 'angry.' Since we no longer have protection against double jeopardy in this country, Rittenhouse will now have to face another trial, this time in federal court. Even if the feds can't get a guilty verdict, they can ruin Rittenhouse and his family. Biden's 'anger' will be at least partially assuaged.

I am seeing that the lefty talking heads and politicians are talking / tweeting stupid comments, most likely out of ignorance of the facts which they don’t want to know in any case since they are pushing a false narrative to push their talking points. Just remember, none of this (Jacob Blake being shot, the riots, millions of dollars in damage, Rittenhouse shooting in self-defense)would have happened if Jacob Blake hadn’t refused to follow an order from police to stop what he was doing. He was:
1) In the process of violating a restraining order by his ex-girlfriend by being at her residence. The police were there because the ex had called 911 that Blake was in violation of the RO.
2) Taking her children (I am not sure if the children were all his). For all the police knew, he was kidnapping them. See point #1 since this also would have been in violation of the RO.
3) He was loading the children into her rented vehicle without her permission. Auto theft in progress.
4) Resisting arrest, including shaking off at least 2 taser attempts. He also was armed with a knife, which he was ordered to put down by the police before he was shot by the police.

The police were cleared in the shooting as it was deemed justified by the investigation by prosecutors who were looking to nail the cops. The race baiters that are whining today conveniently forget how this all started. Yes, I am white and not black like Blake. But when an armed police officer gives me an order, I do as I am directed since I am not stupid. The race baiters would say my actions of following the cops’ orders as “White Privilege”. BS - it is me being smart and not ending up with bullet holes in my body.

No, it's a worthless moral argument. The people he shot, all of whom were out there supporting violence and destruction, should not have been there.

Kyle, as a law abiding citizen who was asked by a store owner to protect two car lots, after there third had been completely torched, had every right to be there.

Kyle was there to help protect that place, as well as to provide medical attention for protestors. Now, I think the second part was stupid, but the record showed that he did help people, and he did help keep the damage down.

And the application of the law of self defense to this case was easy: they all attacked him, they all threatened or inflicted GBI (striking someone in the head with a wooden board is GBI), Kyle never incited anything.

A jury that was just applying the law to the case would have been done in about an hour, with the same verdicts

I know that's only a fraction of the lies and manipulation from the media and the politicians, but still. The fact that something so significant could be buried as long as it was is infuriating.

I'm thankful he was acquitted. I'm also very glad that he's alive - it could easily have gone the other way. If these were normal times, I would agree with Kyle's critics that he was reckless, and should have stayed away. But these are not normal times. If lowlifes are going to riot, and police are going to do nothing (or be prevented from an adequate response), and politicians and journalists are going to enable the rioters, then we're going to need people like Kyle to defend life and property. I don't have his courage. I wouldn't put myself in harm's way like that. "I'm too old for this s--t." But I look at him as a decent and courageous young man - yes, perhaps a bit foolish - who actually confronted the darkness descending on this country when very few others were willing to do so. I personally believe that rioters, looters and arsonists should be shot on sight. I hope Kyle's acquittal sends a message. It's time that these people (BLM, Antifa, etc.) learn a little fear.

As for charges against Lefty Grosskreutz - the prosecutors apparently did a plea deal with him about a week before trial, dismissing all charges. Not clear if they bothered to tell the defense. Yes, it was material information, since it could have been used to impeach him on the stand (he was the prosecution’s star witness). He didn’t actually need to be impeached on the stand though, since his testimony helped the defense more than the prosecution. But the prosecution played fast and footloose with disclosing material information in their hands to the defense, including turning over the lossy compressed version of the video they got from somewhere they never disclosed, and then used the lossless uncompressed version of the video in their closing arguments to show provocation (a self defense exception under WI law).

I should also note that by declaring Grosskreutz the victim, they were able to deprive the defense of the video that he was recording at the time he pointed his gun at Rittenhouse and got shot for his troubles (thus earning the nickname of “Lefty”). The detectives got a warrant to search his phone, but the prosecutors told them that they couldn’t use it because he was a crime victim. It turned out ok, but having the video (from his phone) showing up close the whole sequence of him pointing his Glock at Kyle, Kyle pointing his AR-15 back, raising his gun, Kyle doing similar, then pointing it again at Rittenhouse, and getting shot, would have been devastating to the prosecution. So, they suppressed it through an innovative, LawFare type, misinterpretation of the crime victim’s rights law.

tim in vermont said...

"This was an injustice - he should've gotten probation."

I can see where you are coming from, I think he showed bad judgment being there with the weapon, but under the law, he was facing life in prison. But if he weren't armed, and still provoked the rioters by trying to put out fires and prevent fires, he would still likely have been attacked and possibly killed. So his only "reasonable" course of action was to abide by the decision of those in power to stand idly by while his friends' business was destroyed.

The National Guard should have been there. That's another correct moral argument. The blame for these killings falls with the people who tolerated and encouraged the riots. Once the situation was thrown, Rittenhouse did exactly what he had to do to protect his own life. I think that Heinlein said that "Self defense is the only inalienable right" but we can see where that right can indeed be alienated by a political lynch mob. How many westerns have we seen with the man in jail, and the mob with a rope outside ready to do "justice"? That's what we saw here.

These riots are not as popular as Democrats seem to think, and I think they have a lot to do with the Democrat's record low standing with voters.

I keep saying this, but the book The Power of Habit talks about "small victories" that reenforce progress to a goal, even in political movements, and the left really really really wanted to deny the people who read the law as written and view the video unadulterated, a victory. For them it's all about revolutionary truth, and to achieve this truth justifies screwing with video, lying about the law, and the facts of the case.

When the judge was considering the weapons charge, it boiled down to the length of the barrel of the gun, and when the judge said "Let's measure the gun" the prosecution said that they accept that the gun was legal to be carried by Rittenhouse. If they accepted that the gun was legal, why did they charge him? This is the kind of bullshit that pisses people off who might otherwise have not been that interested in this case. I don't think that is a correct moral argument. But I do think that is a correct prudential argument. The prudent and reasonably precautionary course of action is to not put a 17 year old in the middle of a riot situation. 17 year old's generally do not have the appropriate appreciation for risk. While Kyle was with other people mostly, he was not during the shootings and immediately before. It seems like he was alone putting out fires with a fire extinguisher immediately before Rosenbaum confronted him and chased him down. This could very well be the motivation for Rosenbaums's actions since he reasonably could have wanted Kenosha to burn for racial justice, and he did earlier that day tell Kyle Rittenhouse that if he caught him alone he would fucking kill him.

But regarding the moral argument, I completely understand a motivation to go and protect what he sees as his community and his neighbors under attack. I merely think that despite that moral justification, prudence should dictate that a 17 year old does not go into a riot situation.

I still think of her, and how she would laugh and affectionately call me "White Devil." But I realize that the Trial of OJ Simpson Changed Things, and there was no putting it back together.

And things will not be put back together after the Trial of Kyle: I am sure there are young white women today who are experimenting with lesbianism with black girlfriends, black girlfriends that are feeling betrayal at the news. It is how the world turns.

I've been on three criminal juries (all misdemeanors, nothing like this case). I was foreman on the latter two. You really have no idea how a given juror, especially a first-time juror, will process what they have seen and heard.

Trials don't always have a smooth, easy-to-follow flow. The prosecution tries to present a narrative supported with evidence. The defense opposes it from every angle, even if the defense just spitballs. Interruptions, objections, lousy witnesses, bench conferences, etc really can interrupt the flow and confuse jurors.

If the jury took its time and made sure everyone's questions and concerns were answered and came to agreement unanimously, they did a great job.

C'mon man, I'm sure you can provide a convincing response.

But you guys deny white people think they're special.

Hilarious.

No, you don't get it. You obviously just make it up in your head and assume that's what other people think too - and then put it on them is their idea.

I know he was defending himself, but I also know he wouldn't have needed to do it if he hadn't been there.

I understand that logic is not your strong suit

The rule of law was abolished the night before. The Governor of Wisconsin and Mayor of Kenosha declared that Kenosha citizens are on their own that night.

Thats the beginning of the story.

St Joseph Rosenbaum slung the N word around, perpetrated vandalism and viscous racist property destruction, threatened lives, and oh - he's child rapist.

I think the collective left should erect a statue of ST. Rosenbaum(D)

To all those vile PoSs that are wondering what would happen if Rittenhouse was black: wonder no more. That MF who shot Ashli Babbitt didn't get charged with a damned thing, so now you know exactly what would happen. Thanks for playing though.

I wish him luck, as he will need it in today's world.

Me too. His ordeal is far from over. Hope he doesn't have to shoot another crazy SOB or get shot by one. He'll need to move to a red state. The media will likely hound him for years.

He also wouldn't have needed to if the men who attacked him weren't there. Funny thing that logic.

In general, white people aren't. Neither are black people. That's why we celebrate heroes (and I don't see Kyle as one), they are special.

Yeah, I'm reading a Wisconsin criminal statute that expressly forbids "getting in over one's head and participating in the death of others."

Snort.

Essentially you are arguing that the convicted felons who participated in the RIOTS and ARSON at that "protest" had a superior right to be there, and to commit assault and battery on him, using weapons, than Rittenhouse did by simply being there.

You can stick yer "logic" up your rosy red....

Having been there the day before, car lot tires still smoldering..locals recounting hearing of "bombs going off" and as I left GPS steering me into oncoming street blocking mob on the march, I have a bit more leniency re what brought that kid there.

Whatever it is, he'll basically be killing time until his civil lawsuits are settled. Once that is done, he can do anything he wants. If I was him, I'd move me and my family to some place like Nebraska, get some land and some good neighbors, (especially since he seems to hunt) and live out my life as a gentleman at ease.

He wouldn't have needed to be there if the police had been doing their job.

That they were "set up" (of course they were) doesn't really negate the fact that they had sex with underage girls. They used these girls as sexual toys. Yeah Epstein was a scumbag, but so were they.

Let me suggest that the behavior, while reprehensible, is not outside of historical norms across a wide range of cultures. Indeed I suspect for most of them it is more about power than the sex, the very fact that you are breaking taboo with impunity.

The really disgusting thing to me is that among a certain set, there wasn't even much of an attempt to hide it; it was almost a perverse fraternal organization abusing women and girls, abetted by even more perverse women.

About the verdict, if you are a defense attorney, don't just sit there. Get the hell off your sorry ass and stand with your client when a verdict is read.

There's a difference between a dumb move and a dick move. I think it was extremely dumb for Rittenhouse to walk among the rioters with a rifle slung around his neck. Well, seventeen year olds are inclined to vainglory and hubris and lying about their age to join the Marines. But such gestures are not dick moves. Joseph Rosenbaum's life, by way of contrast, was an unbroken series of dick moves. His seeking out and trying to attack an armed man was by no means the dickiest move of his scumbag life but it certainly was his last. If Rosenbaum had lived out his natural life, you could count on him screwing up another dozen lives. He, not Rittenhouse, was the active shooter...

I hope Rittenhouse finds some way to live out a sane and balanced life, but he has suddenly become very famous and subject not just to petty harassment but to the temptations of fame. A lot of things can go wrong.....Maybe that police officer who shot Michael Brown shows the way. He moved to some out of the way spot and doesn't opine on the issues of the day. He's been pretty much forgotten and has a chance to lead a normal life.....The final chapter on Zimmerman hasn't been written, but there's a good chance it won't end well. Zimmerman leaned into the fame, but when there's that many people eager to report all the bad news on you, it's hard to remain unsullied.....We have learned that Rittenhouse flashed the okay sign. That's all they've got right now, but they'll keep digging. Whose life can stand all that much scrutiny..... (Just as an aside, I wonder how the mothers of the children that Rosenbaum raped feel about Rosenbaum's untimely death.)

During 19 days of the Rittenhouse trial 10 people were shot in Milwaukee and no one has been charged in any of these cases. Over the year 176 people have been shot, 91% of them from the black community. There have been charges in only 23% of the cases. This is the real result of the anti-police protests - a breakdown of law and order that hits the black community hardest. Wouldn't it be better for Governor Evers to think about the true aftermath of being anti-police rather than to beat the false narrative drum with all the other Dems? But perhaps it's necessary to bang that drum hard to keep people from noticing all the equity in Milwaukee.
