"And he explained all of this in terms of Trump’s admirable performance as president, which supposedly won him over. He was clearly watching a different movie than many of the rest of us were.... On Twitter he bizarrely
lashed out at the Times columnist Paul Krugman as 'one of many weird cat ladies who have too much power in our country,' then went after [Alec] Baldwin in a tactless way at a tactless time.... But he gets points for occasional honesty. Shortly after declaring his Senate candidacy on July 1,
in an interview with Molly Ball for Time magazine, he acknowledged his past opposition to Trump and bluntly conceded that he needed 'to just suck it up and support him.' Suck it up he has — and how."

The tweet about Alec Baldwin was "Dear
@jack let Trump back on. We need Alec Baldwin tweets."

The Not Democrats. It's a big tent...
The left know how to dig into the Ever-Trumper dude.
I hope it doesn't work.
Many of us have mixed feelings about Trump. So what?
Funny how these same leftist writers at NYT have no qualms about Biden family corruption. Or Clinton family corruption that begins and ends with Hillary - in every direction.
Dear NYT,
You cannot negate what Trump did in the real world by saying, "...but on Twitter...".
That is because Twitter is not a real place.
If you really tried to live on Twitter you'd die from lack of oxygen.
Which is what happened to most of your reporting.
Food critic Frank Bruni mocks....
So basically, Bruni's pissed off that JD Vance doesn't know his place. Gotcha!
Kamala said Biden's female accuser should be believed a few months before agreeing to be his VP. Anyone want to guess the last time the NYT brought that up?
Republican bashing in the NYT(D). Why - we never!
What about all the people who were anti-Biden, but after he was installed - they became Biden blind-faith supporters?
hmm?
To people like Frank Bruni it must seem bizarre to have been won over by Trump's performance, but that isn't really saying much--I'm sure that Bruni finds it bizarre that anyone ever voted for Trump.
I didn't vote for Trump in his first run, but did vote for his re-election*. So I fully understand Vance.
*My voting would probably have been different had it mattered, but I live in a state which hasn't gone Republican since Reagan.
When I get new information, or deeper information, I often change my mind, what does Frank Bruni do?

The Insult'n of Bruni?
Ah so J. D. Vance called the Krugster a "weird cat lady"--and said something tactless about Alex Baldwin? Was that tactless statement about Baldwin's ability as a parent (poor) or his gun handling skills (even worse)? And as for the Krugster, "First pass guess as to when thes stock market will recove from the Trump 2016 election---"never". Ah Krugman always wrong, but never in doubt.
I don't think Vance has much to fear from the petulant whining of Bruni.

Bill Kristol deleted his old Biden bashing posts. He made a pilgramge to DC and groveled before Pelosi.
Childish.
When we dislike someone, they “grovel” or “suck-up”. When we like someone they “build bridges” or “show loyalty”. Identical actions, wildly different terms. In the quoted passages, Bruni makes no real argument, he just makes assertions with the appropriate words attached, and assumes the reader ought to agree. “He was clearly watching a different movie than many of the rest of us were”. Well yes, of course. But he was also clearly watching a movie many other people were watching. Why not admit that? Everyone knows it’s true. Why is your movie the one closer to reality? That’s something he could be writing about, it he cared about trying to change my mind. Why is it bizarre to call Paul Krugman “one of many weird cat ladies who have too much power in our country”. I think weird cat lady is pretty good, it does catch a certain disconnected, obsessive quality I see in Krugman. But I’m not sure about the too much power part. Isn’t Krugman pretty much an exhausted baking soda volcano at this point?
J. D. Vance evolved. Frank Bruni, not so much.
who gives a farthing what frank bruni thinks
He was clearly watching a different movie than many of the rest of us werE
Apparently Frank Bruni follows Scott Adams and was inspired to say the one honest thing he’s ever said in his career. Millions of Trump skeptics were won over by his performance as president. Only the most die-hard partisan hacks would deny that Trump was a far better and far more conventional president than his opponents expected.
Bruni wouldn’t what to do with himself if he couldn’t mince and whine.
Is the 11th Commandment "Thou shalt not mock crazy libtard actors"?
Vance isn't wrong about Krugman or Baldwin. Neither one has done anything that merits being immune to criticism. Both deserve ridicule for their actions.
As to backtracking on Trump, Vance is just bowing to political reality in the same way that Kamala Harris bowed to reality by joining the ticket of the guy she all but called a racist. Politics is like that. Stop trying to find the only virgin in the whore house.
A lot of people were skeptical about Trump until they saw how he performed as president. Then, of course, there were those with closed minds; or mental illness.
Trump, Trump, Trump!
The boys are marching.
I have always thought that Krugman looks like an escapee from the small mammal house at Lincoln Park Zoo--you know, where they have reversed day and night so you can see them awake and active. Same furtive eyes and furry, pouchy cheeks full of acorns.
There is a large primary field. I have a hard time believing that Vance's one book can propel him out of the pack the way Trump's multidecade business and entertainment career propelled him to the GOP 2016 nomination.
Bruni has no room to talk. The best minds of the democrat party fielded a senile old racist and an cackling airhead who fucked her way up the democrat ladder. Not much of a showing for the Age of Aquarius crowd.
I have a hard time believing that Vance's one book can propel him out of the pack the way Trump's multidecade business and entertainment career propelled him to the GOP 2016 nomination.
I have a very hard time understanding how Joe Biden's mediocre career as a politician got him "elected" to the presidency. But there were other factors in five cities.
Bruni has had so many democrat cocks in his mouth he has no room to criticize anyone...
Readering: "There is a large primary field. I have a hard time believing that Vance's one book can propel him out of the pack the way Trump's multidecade business and entertainment career propelled him to the GOP 2016 nomination."
It wasnt just the book, though that has been critically important for widespread media attention for Vance.
The book was one of the few that correctly described the populist movement that gave Trump his vuctory (Trump rode the populist wave and not the other way around).
That led to the Ron Howard directed movie based on the book, astonishing amount of airtime on all the major cable news nets for 4 years straight that raised his profile, in addition to his numerous venture capital endeavors with Peter Thiel and Steve Case, amongst others. Those experiences also led to significant public exposure.
Vance also served in combat as a US Marine, which is respected by most normal folks and is seen as a big plus for him.
Interestingly, Vance's military experience is one of the key drivers for LLR Chuck's seething hatred of JD Vance, in addition to Vance being a conservative republican.
Joe Smith: "Bruni has had so many democrat cocks in his mouth he has no room to criticize anyone..."
LLR Chuck makes Bruni look like WF Buckley by comparison.
I'm guessing that Frank Bruni is another of those weird cat ladies who have too much power in this country.
