Joe Rogan got COVID. Took Ivermectin. Got Better in 3 days. Told his millions of listeners about it.

Now the media is melting down.

Soon people are going to find out Ivermectin is being used by millions of people in India and their death rate is very very low. People have always known Ivermectin works.

It appears that people in the media want COVID to be deadly so they can continue to use it.

There is going to be a reckoning.

Today a passenger told me, a friend who works for the CDC, here in ATL, told him there's a new deadlier covid variant coming from South America, and, the vaccines don't work against it.

If true, brace yourselves.

I see that fabulist Joe Biden told a group of Jewish leaders about his visit to the Tree of Life synagogue after the mass murder that took place there back in 2018.

Except the staff of the Tree of Life synagogue say that he had never visited them at any time since the event. But that’s just Joe being Joe, right?

I saw my doctor this week for my annual check up and described my cold symptoms: chest cold, runny nose, and mild fever. He said it was COVID. I was vaccinated with the Pfizer in March and April. It felt like just a mild cold; milder than other colds I've had.

I just posted another entry on clearing the observatory site for our new home. One of the pictures is a vertical panoramic, inspired by Ann's vertical panoramic picture from a couple of weeks ago.

Of all the sorry-assed things coming out of Afghanistan, one of the worst is that there seems to be no honest effort to figure out what went wrong and the lessons to be learned from the debacle. If all you’re going to do is scramble around covering your ass and looking for scapegoats, then there’s a serious risk that disasters will happen again and again and again.

The prosecutor who initially handled the Ahmaud Arbery case (black man shot while running thru white Brunswick, GA neighborhood) has been indicted for not immediately arresting the shooters, and for not revealing that she talked about the case with the other county DA that she recommended to take the case after she recused herself:

https://law.georgia.gov/document/document/indictment-superiorcourtglynnpdf/download

I thought the default setting is not arresting people. If we start locking up prosecutors for not prosecuting, where does it end?

I also thought it would be presumed by all that, before dumping a case in another DA’s lap, she might maybe discuss it with him first?

I hope she takes this all the way to a jury.

Thought experiment: reverse the races.

Mike of Snolqualmie, might have been a cold from some other vi, might have been the dreaded covid. Only an antibody test would tell. Actual covid antibodies are different from vaccine only ones.

I’m disappointed that the Red Cross has stopped antibody testing blood donations.

Speaking of which, after numerous recent email and message requests I was going to donate platelets for the first time today. As I was getting ready to leave my better half ask, “Can you do that while taking cephalexin?” Oops, no. Some of us continue to get sick with other than covid. A bunch of bug bites on my rear , a whole bunch, turned into cellulitis. A lot of people are afraid to visit their doctor because of covid. I’m not- was a whole 2 days after being bitten/stung, and something wasn’t right. Cellulitis can kill you as easily as covid. Don’t delay medical care for one problem because you’re fearful of another.

i've been thinking about world travel. Particularly, to places like Petra
In this day and age; Which would give you a better experience of Petra?
Books and Videos, and other virtual veiwing?
or
Going there yourself, and standing in a smelly line of tourists, waiting to walk by?
Petra looks SO IMPRESSIVE in the movies.... it doesn't look that impressive on Google Earth
My guess is, being there (live, in person) would SUCK

I'm not saying "don't go, for the good of others"
I'm saying "don't go, for your own sake"
comments?

My wife is one of those who has not seen her doc since this COVID started. I've been urging her to see her doc. I've been able to make my appointments and do not fear the dreaded COVID.

By the time I saw my doctor, the symptoms had cleared up with just a small residual cough. He didn't order an antibody test, so whether it was truly a cold or the dread COVID will never be known. The worst thing about it was that we did not go to last weekend Mariner games that we had tickets for. Since we are season ticket holders, we could return them to the Mariners and get credit.

Now Saturn is bright enough in the evening to be seen easily, and Jupiter just gets more impressive coming up behind.

Big Mike--it's the pattern: just as with COVID, the people responsible skate . . . then again the people who got us into, and kept us in, two land wars in Asia skated too.

It's the definition of privilege and immunity, and far from a righteous AAR, they're applauding themselves for unprecedented achievements.

I agree Big Mike. Where is our brave CIA operative who is willing to go to jail to publish the Pentagon papers. Oh wait that was Snowden and WikiLeaks. No one cared. With more than half the population morbidly obese addicted to fast food and serotonin reuptake inhibitors what do you expect?

Welcome to the brave New world

Big Mike,

"Of all the sorry-assed things coming out of Afghanistan, one of the worst is that there seems to be no honest effort to figure out what went wrong and the lessons to be learned from the debacle."

That's what scares me. Either the people behind it actually think they did on balance a good job, or – and this is my bet – they know otherwise, but believe "there is a need, whether it's true or not, to project a different picture."

He also got MAB.
So..how did he get them?
Underlying condition or does his stocky fitness confound the BMI >25 eligibility requirement?

Mike,
You mean you had positive results on a test?

Chuck,

Any updates on whether or not Patrick Reed was vaccinated or not? Inquiring minds want to know if you stayed up to date on Reed's health.

Did the doc give you the Covid test? I have also been a bit under the weather - slightly sore throat, mildly stuffy nose, but zero fever. Could be allergies, but symptoms were more cold-like. My millennial son is Covid Fearful (he has taken 4 tests in the past year - all negative, but he and his wife probably had it in mid-February 2020 and are double immune). Hubby and I went all the way to Issaquah yesterday to pick up a test kits that give you an answer in 15 minutes. Negative (as I assumed) but it made my son happy.

We bought an extra test kit - it beats trying to get an appt. at one of the drive-thru sites that demand all sort of personal/contact information.

PS - enjoyed the vertical photo. Althouse is an inspiration in more ways than one.

I work at a hospital- pretty much by myself. 11 total people in the workgroup, including the supervisor. I see 2, sometimes 3 people for less than 5 minutes when I come in M, W, F, only 1 on S, S. Only 1 person when relieved. For less than 5 minutes. No patient contact for anyone. Tomorrow I'll be handing in my paperwork saying I'm not getting the vaccination (that doesn't work for the variants now extant) for religious reasons. The other 10- all succumbed to pressure- including the ones who had the dreaded covid. 2 of whom had heart problems, one with a heart attack, after the vax. But totally unrelated to it- they were told so!

So what does this mean? Well, with no symptoms at all whatsoever, I have to be masked when I come in and when I'm relieved- so I can't give a disease I don't have to people who are vaccinated so they don't get it. Hey, makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

Those of you who don't yet understand all this bullcrap is about control and not about protecting us are severely delusional. If the vaccine works, there's no reason to be masked- and masking doesn't work to stop the spread as has been amply demonstrated. And if the vaccine doesn't work- the only reason us science deniers (heh!) would need to mask around the vaccinated- then why is the vaccine required? Nothing about the policy make any kind of scientific sense. It's about forcing people like me to bend to the will of my "betters".

What Lem said above I've read elsewhere- strains are coming from South America, and likely other places, that the vaccine is totally useless against. And the science behind non-sterilizing vaccines- and if you're going to call the covid shot a vaccine- that's what it is, a non-sterilizing vaccine- says that non-sterilizing vaccines drive the development of variants by increasing mutation rates.

Legalize abortion gambling? Is this right?

The new Texas abortion law is fascinating. Pro-lifers can get their crack at $10k now while risking being liable for a possibly much greater sec 1983 suit later. Basically legal betting on Roe future with SCOTUS

No test. Based upon my description of the symptoms, the doc thought it was COVID. By the time I saw him, I was over it. I thought there was no point to getting a test that's not going to drive any medical decisions. It would be just a waste of money.

Ok Mike,
A rapid antigen test is about $10 Otc.
Of course, too late for that now.
Although, they don't want the covid recovered to get covid tests because can put up a false positive months afterward.
Which..(Wait, what?) begs questions regarding PCR testing of asymptomatic pre-diagnosis, by the way.
"He didn't order an antibody test, so whether it was truly a cold or the dread COVID will never be known."
I got an antibody test for $25 at a Hyvee pharmacy.

Gospace,
I believe Robert Barnes put together a downloadable legal form to help contest employer mandates.
How close to shots did your co-workers get the heart problems?
Reportedly deaths before 14 day post vax incubation count as unvaxxed.
