Quaestor said...: A few minutes ago I rediscovered a lost bookmark to a blog called Things wot I Made Then Ate authored by "Chip", a well-respected visitor to the Althouse blog in the distant past (past in relative blog-time, that is). His comments tended to cuisine-related subjects, but as recall, he also contributed some very interesting Photoshop work from time to time. The most recent entry is dated on or about 1 April 2021. The jist of it is his report from his room in Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver.

I think This girl is 100% sincere. Problem is, there are zillions of versions of alternate history. Any ElHi teacher who emphasizes "ya know, the Fascists made the trains run on time" should be rightly fired.

This teacher's job is to jam as many facts as possible into her student's heads, from the corpus of accepted history. (History didn't begin with the Stonewall riots.) Ideally, students are eventually given tools to compare, contrast, support, discredit, etc. all the facts jammed in their head.

Is the job of uni teachers to teach newer "facts" & skip over the questioning part. They are very good at that job.; 9/6/21, 4:57 AM

I myself am however convinced from personal contacts and news stories that the overwhelming majority of patients with Covid who are in ICUs and who are dying are unvaccinated.
