"[Bob] Ross’s hair, a holdover from the free-love era, wasn’t naturally curly—he had it permed every few months, a process that he called having his 'springs tightened.'"

"As a nature-loving aesthete, he didn’t seem to have much mind for business matters, which, for better or worse, he left up to the Kowalskis. The documentary treats him as a spiritual healer, somewhere in the family of the Dalai Lama, but it’s more accurate to place him alongside Julia Child, Richard Simmons, and other lovable oddballs who found a niche in mass media and burrowed their way into popular culture.”

I watched a bit of the documentary, but I turned it off. The "true crime" style is ludicrous. The lurid "Betrayal & Greed" just refers to marketing the Bob Ross brand after his death.

Do I need to know about "the Kowalskis"? I think not. But here's a quote from Annette Kowalski describing Bob Ross's technique — not painting technique, but his speaking-while-painting technique — “He pretends like he’s talking to one woman in bed. He practiced. He was trying to be a little sexy.”

Well he succeeded, by God. Well done, Bob.

I will always cherish our happy time together; Noon EST, 11CST, 9PST.

PBS did the same thing to Donald Trump. Frontline - I recall. Total propaganda for the Maddow/ MSNBC-viewer crowd.
Featuring the same evil dark "true crime" voice. (Thank you for that apt description, Ann,. Spot on.)

No one will ever make a documentary about Biden family greed - with that dark voice to describe it all.

Why are the knives out for Bob Ross?

Got a perm once in high school. Hated the process. Decided against doing it again when the Sammy Hagar look wore off. Liked having a little “body” to my hair as it grew out, having very fine very straight hair the other 99.9% of my life. Still had no desire to go through the process again.

This concerns me, as I’ve learned our 7 year old granddaughter often chooses to fall asleep at night while watching Ross’s
YouTube videos.

Bob Ross' hair was a lie? I'm shocked. Please tell me Richard Simmons' hair was authentic or I'm not going to know what to do with myself.

The rough way of the world. A bit of Karma since Bob leveraged his career from Bill "fire it in!" Alexander.

I will say that when I had bilateral bone on bone hip arthritis in 24/7 grinding pain, that 25-minutes every Saturday morning watching Bob make happy accidents was the only real respite I got.

His approach was more directed at putting women…and men to sleep. And…it works. He’s better than any sleep cocktail I’ve found.

Say it ain't so. Who felt like America needed this? Bring back those old studio executives like in The Last Tycoon who would have smothered this project in embryo.

The Mr. Rogers movie "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" starring Tom Hanks is a wonderful movie, and I strongly recommend viewing it.

It also deviates from being a direct biographical narrative about the subject, and explores Rogers' relationship with a cynical reporter. And the final moment of the film is wonderful, ranking right up there with the ending of "Blood Simple" as a delightful bit of closure.

Drunk Irish People Try Painting Along To a Bob Ross Tutorial.

One of the drunken Irish people, Justine, actually is bright enough to catch on to the sexual subtext of Ross's murmurs and runs with it. An absolutely hilarious video.
