"I have been painting tabletops, flowers, still lifes and figures, boomeranging to earlier themes. And tennis balls. I have painted tennis balls for at least five years."

"I don’t think I ever paint the color accurately. It’s a funky color. There is a whole debate over the color of tennis balls. Are they yellow or are they green? I think that every tennis ball shifts between that range in the course of their life. They start off neon, like a toxic sludge, but once a ball starts to lose its fuzz and pick up the residue of whatever surface you’re playing on, they get dull. I would say they start off neon green and go more toward yellow over time."

Said Eddie Martinez, quoted in "7 Questions/75 Artists/1 Very Bad Year" (NYT).

Lots of pictures at the link but none of Martinez's tennis balls! I went looking and found this video of him painting:

Day glo gets its brightness by converting UV light into green (or orange), producing a green plus the green of the ball itself that adds up to something more than naturally bright, which is the effect desired.

Its overall color is going to depend on how much UV there is at the moment, as the two colors involved won't exactly match.

Day glo doesn't work at all at night since there's no UV, which is why there are reflective strips. You could use them on tennis balls too.

So over the last year the Elite have engineered a fake pandemic for the purposes of killing off small businesses old people and anyone competing with their big tech allies but their indiscriminate lust for power to say “stay home peasants!”!has accidentally killed off movie theaters live music education and anything that gathers people together. A year spent driving us apart and feeding us lies has resulted in suffering coast to coast. And I’m supposed to care about a guy who paints fuzzy green balls? LOL.

I read most of that looonnngg piece of artists blathering about how they’ve dealt with the pandemic, isolation, etc. Blecchh! We are truly in the New Dark Ages. The “artist” class is terrified of life. They all must work within the walls of the The Church of SCIENCE!, led by St. Fauci. It's a repeat of the morality plays of the Middle Ages, boring, moralistic, false.

A great gaping chasm of potential stands before them in which one of them could be a real age-turner. Like when Obama was president and no jokes allowed, a true comedian could have emerged to really define the moment. Alas, none arose. and none of the so-called artists in this piece will make a single dent in the culture, in our age. Oh, they'll win awards that they bestow on each other like soon-to-be former Governor Cuomo got. But they are hollow men and women, enslaved to Wokeism.

There must be a very large percentage of tennis balls that never get used to play tennis.

Pickleball players are forced pick up the neon lint left on the courts by the miscreant tennis players. Distracting but at least easy to spot. Nothing but litterbugs they are.

I haven't paid any attention to tennis since they did away with the requirement for all white balls all white shorts all white shirts all white culotte style short skirts for the girls. Although I would have to say the first sign of the coming apocalypse was the two-handed backhand. Chrissy Evert is the devil.

These paintings are too large-scale to be appropriate in my home. If I want a picture of tennis balls, I want it to be a still life, more or less in the manner of Adriaen van Utrecht, except with tennis balls instead of all the fruit. A good title would be "Vanitas," or similar.

I think the virus was released accidentally from the Wuhan lab.

But in the spirit of never letting a good crisis go to waste, the Dems and the left leveraged it to its fullest extent.

Fair?

This is all just a run-through, Cookie. The elite wanted to see how far they could push a panicked public into obedience with a range of stupid illogical and ascientific orders. “Stay at home” was a novel approach unmoored from any science or experience. All the effects have been negative unless you believe extending the pandemic was the goal, then it was wildly successful. There was never a reason to close schools yet they are still closed. Well only govt-run schools. Private ed is doing fine for those motivated or rich enough. There was no reason bars and restaurants closed but airplanes kept packing them in. No logic there. Cmon Cookie. You can think your way out of that box Canyon. Cant you?

Everything about this pandemic has been repeated from all the previous pandemics, including the conspiracy ideation and denial.

The researchers found that increased conspiratorial ideation was associated with lower levels of agreeableness, conscientiousness, inquisitiveness, and intellectual humility; and higher levels of self-centered impulsivity, entitlement, grandiosity, negative affect, detachment, psychoticism, depression, and anxiety

No. What reasons would "the Dems and the left" (sic) have to create a crisis? How have they "leveraged it to its fullest extent?" To what purpose?

Sounds about right, insofar as observation of the anti-social behavior of anti-maskers shows.

I thought you were one of the smarter ones...I was clearly wrong.

How about the push for mass mail-in ballots?

How about politicians wielding unheard of power?

How about passing bills with trillions in spending?

The purpose was to go balls-to-the wall to oust Trump.

It worked.

Everything else followed.

What color is the sky in your world?

I like his paintings. He steps back because he's satisfied with the composition then, just as he is about to leave, sees something that does not work. I can relate. I do that frequently.

You seem to assume that simply by reiterating a series of (unbulleted) Trumpist bullet points that you have proved a reality. You haven't.

Howard said...

Joe Smith: for your conspiracy theorem to work, Trump had to be 100% complicit in totally Fucking up the pandemic response.

I can hear your response already: Trump, the seven dimensional chess stable genius, was completely and totally fooled and played by Fauci and the CDC working on instructions from DNC and CCP handlers

I can't deal with a simpleton...I clearly gave you too much credit.

Remember, I didn't say the left created the virus or realized the virus. But once it was out there they weaponized it to the hilt for partisan political purposes.

If you can't see what the Dems did to leverage the 'crisis' then you are too far gone...

Joe Smith said...

You honestly don't think the Dems leveraged the shit out of the virus? Really?

Maybe a stupid question as lefties lie about everything if it helps gain political power.

The response was not perfect but getting the vaccine in record time was a 10/10.

Presidents are not dictators. They cannot command the states to comply with anything absent martial law.

Had Trump declared martial law, he would have been impeached yet again.

You really need to up your game.
