"Despite his claims that the border situation is a direct result of the Biden administration’s immigration policies, residents in the Rio Grande Valley have said no such crisis exists. In fact, the number of border crossings under the Biden administration largely mirror those under the former Trump administration. Cruz was accompanied by 18 other Republican senators including John Cornyn, Susan Collins and Lindsey Graham."
Link in the Guardian article to WaPo tries, really hard, to explain it away. Maybe they're using IPCC modeling software.
Except it didn't happen last year because Trump coerced the Mexican government into stopping the caravans in 2019, and enforcement and new policies stopped most of the rest of it. No, President Joe Shitforbrains owns this lock, stock, and barrel.

15 years ago Duke hate-crime hoax was peddled by media and racial-justice ‘reformers’
"Today is the 15th anniversary of Duke University’s suspension of its Lacrosse team in response to false allegations that members of the team committed a racist gang-rape of a black stripper.
But leading journalists peddled the Duke Lacrosse rape hoax, long after it was disproven by concrete evidence. In May 2006, the Durham Herald-Sun published an article by the NAACP’s Julius Chambers and former Princeton President William Bowen. Far from recognizing the falsity of the allegations, which had already been debunked by DNA test results, the article argued that Duke had not taken the allegations seriously enough. It made the pernicious, racially-prejudiced claim that the accuser’s claim should be given special weight because she was black and the accused were white."
The only thing that really worries me about the vaccination effort is that people are selling it as the end of COVID. This is overpromising on an outcome that now is a set up for, (1) disappointment, and (2) an angle for the Karen brigade to encourage new lockdowns while we wait for even newer vaccines.
@Narr: I recognize them and the scene, all from a movie. Cannot name them though.
The Boston Globe has been amping up the panic - Variants!!! - mrs. stevew's sister is buying but we are chuckling. Cases are steady in ME, around 200/day, usually no new daily deaths, hospitals remain underwhelmed.

I'm watching but not sure why-
All the experts (but one) told me today Michigan was no match for Florida St.
After Michigan won they told me Michigan was no match for Alabama. I see UCLA/Bama is now in OT.
I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the mug shot. He looks like 21 going on 35. I don't know when he came to the US, but I would be surprised if we find out that he lied about his age at some point and subtracted about 12 years off it to get in.
It is impossible to judge this a quality field of 64. The COVID nonsense has disrupted the season to such an extent that no matter who wins it, it will forever have a big asterisk attached to it. I would guess, based on just game results all year long, Gonzaga is heads and shoulders above the rest of this field, and so far their scores in the tourney support that assertion. Just seeing teams like Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Ohio State, and Iowa in 1 and 2 seeds just screams low quality field to me. Even Baylor looks like a pretender to me on paper. The Pac 12, a doormat at tourney time over a decade, suddenly looking like world beaters seems to evidence that every other conference declined significantly from one year to this one.

Why my son is planning to move to SOUTH Carolina, just across the border from friends who live in NC. They will be farther from us but I don't blame them for escaping CA.
I don't remember where it was I saw it, but a few years ago someone posted a social media picture that some immigrant to Europe from Afghanistan claimed to be a 16 year old male looking forward to going to the equivalent of high school. No one looking at his social media picture would have guessed his age at anything less than 30.
Got the 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday and had some reactions today. Fatigue, mild fever and a headache. The fever's gone now after about 8-hrs, still a little tired. Tylenol took care of the headache.
I hope he is prepared for the weather change. That part of the country has mild Winters- snow is rare, but the Summers are brutally hot and humid. I grew up with such weather, but it will be a change for someone from California.
I wish someone would show the legal points of entry between Mexico and the US. I live in Texas and I have used them. They are busy places. The media gives the impression that the only way to cross the border into Texas is through the water in the Rio Grande. There are bridges and they have Customs workers on both ends.
I hope he is prepared for the weather change. That part of the country has mild Winters- snow is rare, but the Summers are brutally hot and humid. I grew up with such weather, but it will be a change for someone from California."
Yes. We moved from Southern California to Madison in winter 1992. We were prepared for the cold, but not for the humidity in the months without snow. We brought a window a/c unit with us, but the house was wired in the Forties and couldn't handle the wattage. We couldn't even run the coffee pot and the microwave at the same tome.
New York has a vaccination app that you're going to have to use to get into restaurants there. It's about like a ticket app - you put it on your iphone, load in your vaccination from a data base like the Wisconsin immunization database and you're good to go. You get a green check. Or not. I knew they'd try - that's why it's so serious that the black community is disproportionately not getting vaccinated. Members of the black community can't eat in restaurants, can't work in them, under a Dem Administration. Plus ca change, plus ca la meme chose. Oh well, there's all these Hispanics pouring in. You say they won't be vaccinated? I say their names will be in the database. But maybe in the free states like Florida and Texas they won't try the fear-state vaccination tracking check. And then a preference cascade will overwhelm DeBlasio / Cuomo
So I looked up my Wisconsin Immunization Registry status. My covid shots are listed and all the other vaccination they know about and recommendations for when to get the next one. The Tech Lords strike again.
I grew up with such weather, but it will be a change for someone from California.
Yeah, I grew up in Chicago so am prepared for anything. They are spending a week or two in a beach house on the Florida panhandle which will give them a taste of it. His daughter starts U of Alabama this fall. The whole family is conservative and getting out of CA will be a big incentive. He wants to be near water but not on the coast. There is a big lake/dammed river there and they are looking there. A/C has changed a lot in the south.
Wisconsin has an Immunization Registry where you can check your covid shot registration. https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/immunization/wir.htm
And I guess this will be used for Vax Passports like the one they're rolling out in NY. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/14472429/first-covid-passport-us-new-york-allow-entrance-venues/
Will criminals obey gun laws? get background checks? get safety training? Get a gun card?
I used to work at a site that made Illinois gun cards. Saw Lovie Smiths one day. Lovie Smith is a fine man and not a criminal. Lousy football coach though. 80% were southern Illinois residents. They comprise 20% of the Illinois population at best.
1995 Deep Space Nine didn't predict very well what 2024 would look like.
Or did it? That's still a whole three years off. Plus there is the whole Biden thing and COVID societal destruction thing going on, so it might be right on the mark.
Something didn't sound right last night. Are you sure that the vaccines are approved for use in Canada? As opposed to just being authorized as an experiment drug for emergency use. As in the US.
I wondered and poked around a bit today. It appears that the vaccines have similar status to the US, authorized but not approved.
OTOH, I could be wrong so perhaps you could clarify?
How can anyone be required to take an UNAPPROVED, EXPERIMENTAL, drug? That is what I don't understand about vaccine passports or apps like you mention.
Me, I plan on waiting until it is approved. Then I will probably get the J&J single stick.
Meanwhile, statements like this, “There are people all over the nation, all over the world, that are looking at this to get a sense of how much they can believe in our system of justice,” are thinly-veiled demands for only one acceptable verdict -- guilty. Proof positive that it cannot be a fair trial.
"How can anyone be required to take an UNAPPROVED, EXPERIMENTAL, drug? That is what I don't understand about vaccine passports or apps like you mention."
No shirt, no shoes, no vax passport, no service.
I imagine that's what companies will argue. Lawsuits will ensue.
Jurors KNOW that they cannot come back with a not guilty verdict regardless of the evidence or lack thereof. They know that their lives would be in danger. They know that the city, the country will BURN.
I'm wondering: is there any thoughtful, well-written sci-fi "novel-of-the future" premised on the idea that humans seriously fucked up starting in the late 20th century---and that finally a movement emerged dedicated to undoing 200 years of social, technological and intellectual STUPIDITY? And then actually undoes it?
You know, a lot of folks laugh at the idea of systemic racism. But it does exist in places. And this is one of them. Because it is well known that a significant proportion of the Black population will not take the vaccine.
And under this plan, no vaccine, no passport to be able to travel or otherwise participate in society. In other words, Blacks are excluded.
Now, that is not only Jim Crow, it is Jim Eagle too.
Well, I will make this prediction then- if vaccine passports actually become a thing in the US, they will only apply to white people. Everyone else will get an exemption.
“There are people all over the nation, all over the world, that are looking at this to get a sense of how much they can believe in our system of justice,”
It is a test of the character of the jurors, every single one of them. The correct verdict in this case was a foregone conclusion as soon as the medical examiner's report was released. There is literally no way to overcome reasonable doubt in this case for Chauvin or any of the co-defendents on the murder charges- the prosecution will never be able to prove that the knee caused the death and that the death wasn't due to the fentenyl in Floyd's circulatory system. This really is open and shut not guilty on the all the murder charges. Even the charges on involuntary manslaughter would be hard to sustain given that the police had already called the paramedics. The only thread you have here that is viable for the prosecution is to argue they showed indifference because they didn't load him up and take him to the hospital themselves, but Floyd had actively resisted getting into the car in the first place.
I still believe there are people of character on that jury that will do their actual duty here- acquit, but there will never be an acquittal- I don't think you could find 12 jurors that pure and rational. A hung jury is the best I am hoping for. You could hope that the judge in the case is letting it go to trial in the hope that the jury will take him off the hook. If the jury hangs or convicts, the judge is going to face a decision- do a directed verdict or let the injustice stand. I have less faith in the judicial system than I do in 12 ordinary Minnesotans.
You really can't officially approve these at the FDA level. They have not met the requirements, which are stringent, for official approval, and I have to believe the same is the case in Canada which would probably just accept an FDA approval as good enough. The problem is that the safety data doesn't meet the requirements for the simple reason that not enough time as elapsed to properly assess the data.
In any case, as a practical matter, it is irrelevant- the emergency use direction allows it to be distributed and given to people. It is an entirely different legal problem, though, whether or not anyone, the government, an employer, or a school can require you take it as terms of employment or admittance. I would suspect not with the present SCOTUS.
The emergency use designation is usually used on much smaller populations where a new, but unapproved treatment is allowed for people in dire straits for a drug or medical procedure. In other words, I don't know of a single example in the US where the population being treated under emergency use was more than a few thousand.
I think they can be approved eventually. But before they can be approved they have to go through "phase iii trials" that will take at least a year. Then fda has to review the trial and other data before it can approve the vaccine.
Another issue that may be of interest to lawyers is whether the pfizer/Moderna drugs meet the legal definition of "vaccine" if they do, anyone harmed by them cannot sue. They can only request compensation from the federal govt vaccine fund.
I read the legal definition of "vaccine" and I don't think the RNA vaccines meet it. Otoh, it is very confusing to a scientific layman like me. They might legally be "vaccines"
This has nothing to do with whether they work or not. Just who pays if they cause harm.
I should be wrong, but I wouldn't be in that scenario. The very first time a person of color is denied access to anything because he refused to take the vaccine, the writers of the media narrative would go into overdrive explaining how it is systemic racism causing this person a problem, not the fact that he didn't take the vaccine which is required to gain entry. Of course, they will have to contort themselves to allow people of color who didn't take the vaccine exemptions without attacking the vaccine passports themselves, but in today's world that is definitely doable.
"Darkisland said... Wildswan, How can anyone be required to take an UNAPPROVED, EXPERIMENTAL, drug? That is what I don't understand about vaccine passports or apps like you mention. Me, I plan on waiting until it is approved. Then I will probably get the J&J single stick."
They're still vaccinating only people who want to be vaccinated. And I believe that a lot of people are hesitating who will step forward in few months. And J&J single shot finally got approved and people are starting to take that but there isn't a lot of it yet. It's my opinion that the vaccine passport is another bad idea from NYC. We should open society as they do in Florida. But, to be honest, I don't live in Florida, I live in Wisconsin among mask Karens. If I could go to a gymn without a mask by getting a vaccine passport I would do it.
So, what effect do these vaccines have one year after taking? Five years? Ten years?
No one knows.
It would really suck, wouldn't it, if five years from now, half the people who took it got advanced diabetes or bowel disease or blood cancer or brain bleeds or liver death or were infertile or their children had birth defects.
Fauci takes credit for the speedy development of the COVID-19 vaccine in CNN interview Sunday night. “The best decision I ever made” Fauci claimed. No credit was given to pharmaceutical companies or Operation Warp Speed—or President Trump!
They will be approved eventually unless we see quite a few more side effects than have been reported to date, or they will be supplanted by second generation ones with better safety profiles. What has been done here is basically the biggest phase III drug trial in history, by at least 4 magnitudes already, and aiming for 6 or 7. The phase IV stage, surveillance post market will have the largest data set to work with ever.
The FDA will do a General Motors style cost-benefit analysis and determine that no matter how many people suffer severe adverse effects, the benefit outweighs the costs. They will reason that it is OK that tens or hundreds of thousands may suffer if it reduces the chance that someone might get a virus that is 0.01 percent fatal for their age group.
Yancey, you make a good point, but here in Northern Virginia, most of us, of whatever color, have lots of friends of other colors. My point was that the basic human desire to stand by your friends - for example, if I head to the gym with my friends who are of a different race - is gonna trump the socialist insane desire to make people suffer for things they have no choice about. Anyway, to be fair, here in North Virginia, everything has been open since last August or so. Gyms, restaurants, nightclubs, everything. Well, maybe not movie theaters and schools, but let's face it, movie theaters and schools were always run by the sort of people who .... well, I ain't gonna finish that sentence, but you know what I would have said. When it comes to the sort of places that adults congregate at .....the cops would not dare enforce the rules here. And as the Farr rule kicks in, things will get better. And if the Farr rule does not kick in, and if, in that situation, people realize we are not dealing with a normal natural disaster, well, let's just say that nobody wants to be on the side of people who are pretending that it was a normal natural disaster.
It takes a lot for me to get angry, but this vaccine passport thing - even if it is just a little gleam in the eyes of the evildoers who want to make innocent people suffer - makes me angry. And if it makes a mild, kind-hearted person like me angry, it probably makes tens of millions of normal people a lot angrier than I am.
Yancey Ward said, "The only thing that really worries me about the vaccination effort is that people are selling it as the end of COVID. This is overpromising on an outcome that now is a set up for, (1) disappointment, and (2) an angle for the Karen brigade to encourage new lockdowns while we wait for even newer vaccines."
I was concerned about this sort of thing for months. It's turning out to be more complicated than I imagined. The messaging is a mess.
Doctors keep saying, "We don't know if the vaccine prevents infection, so keep your masks on, vaccinated or not". Oh, but wait! There's evidence the vaccine reduces infection (not much evidence yet, but still...). So, get the vaccine to protect others.
And then, the "variants". "We don't know if the vaccines work against variants, so keep your masks on. And be prepared for booster shots and additional vaccinations for the variants, maybe. Presumably variants will arise....forever.
I am not clear I will ever take a COVID vaccination. I will avoid the mRNA shots. Long term safety and efficacy of the mRNA technology is still an open question.
My preference is for the nasal spray, which is under development. It has the best chance of creating antibodies in the nose, which is where they're needed to prevent infection. We'll see.
"What if 30 years from now, today's 30 year olds suddenly have an epidemic of heart attacks?"
Such long range problems are a risk for every single drug you take. You can only assess your risk profile and what you will tolerate.
My mother gets one of the vaccines tomorrow (later today now), but I don't know yet which one. I am worried for her, but not overly so. I have kept up with the side effect reports, and my judgment is that it is right for her take it at her age and health condition. She wants to get back out into the world without the worry- she was doing this already, but I know it weighed on her mind and those of her friends.
I am at very low risk of dying from the disease, so I will probably definitely not get the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine any time soon. The J&J vaccine is the one I am most likely to get at some point, if I get one at all.
Mark, I cannot take a vaccine with even a suspicion of moral selfishness - say, a little bit of fetal tissue here, a little bit of testing on fetal tissue there - because GOD has saved my life MORE THAN ONCE and I trust in God.
That being said, there are friends of mine who ARE ANGRY with me because they think if I do not take a vaccine I do not care about NOT TRANSMITTING A VIRUS.
But they are batshit crazy, and I know how to live with that. WHO AMONG US DOES NOT HAVE CLOSE FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT CRAZY?
Not me.
AND I AM NOT COMPLAINING.
My friends, remember that what is going on here is GASLIGHTING at SOVIET UNION 1930s levels, and don't blame those you love for being scared.
But don't let people talk you into doing the wrong thing, either.
By the way, if you want to start a discussion about the lack of "SCIENCE" displayed in the opinions of all our fellow creatures who see nothing wrong in all those dishonest WHO and dishonest CDC and all those dishonest JOEMENTUM (remember that - the poor little creature was not in the full throes of dementia back then) recommendations ---- start it with someone else. You could not pay me enough to be the guy who wastes his time with people who don't care enough about real science, trying to argue them back out of their gaslighted and ignorant opinions.
"Third degree conviction means only 150 cities will burn.
No conviction=200 cities 3rd degree =150 cities 2nd degree=100 cities
Plan accordingly"
I wasn't previously aware that the trial will be televised to a national audience.
One example:
"In addition to programming on the Fox News Channel, Fox News Digital will provide live streams of the proceedings and an up-to-the-minute live blog of the latest breaking news developments at FoxNews.com."
As has been pointed out, the vaccines cannot be required as they are experimental and authorized for emergency use. Vaccinating the entire population is not emergency use.
My son will be going to court this week. My grandson is in Texas at the moment. His flight back to NY is scheduled for after Dictator Cuomo has ordered the unconstitutional Excelsior Pass be presented to enter the state. At least, that's according to some news coverage. My son has no intention of getting my grandson experimental vaccines. And I don't blame him. Well, actually, AFAIK, no one in my family intends on getting the vaccines. Those who've had the dreaded covid- DON'T F---ING NEED IT! regardless of the pronouncements of Quack Fauci, Dictator Cuomo and Brain Addled Biden, who wants an internal passport for the entire USA. So he's asking the Texas courts to grant him full custody as he wants his son to grow up in a free state, not a dictatorship. Texas courts just might buy that argument.
Let's give a quick example of just how f---ing ridiculous a covid passport is.
Case 1. I come upon an accident victim who's bleeding. I stop the bleeding, but don't have the proper PPE to prevent blood exposure. Case 2. A prison guard or chaplain- or anyone in a prison, has an inmate throw a bag of urine and feces at them. Trust me, it happens. Case 3. A mentally ill person wandering the streets starts running up and spitting on people.
Guess what? In all those scenarios, it is completely and 100% unlawful for any medical professional to tell you the HIV status of the individual who contaminated you- and HIV is a deadly disease which can now be controlled- for most people- with an incredibly expensive lifetime treatment with drugs. It is also unlawful to inform you of their hepatitis status or anything else contagious they might have- it violates their rights. Your rights to know if you've been exposed to a potentially deadly disease? You don't have any. And that's genuine exposure, not theoretical "Oh, you haven't had a vaccine, so you might possibly have a disease that you and I are both likely to survive" scenario.
The unconstitutional stupid f---ing Excelsior Pass- anyone who looks at immediately knows if you've been vaccinated against a disease with a >98% survival rate. And you're requited to show it to get in- even though that violates HIPAA laws- as the other cases do.
Is it time to start killing lawmakers yet? Seriously, that's the question. How many rights do we let them take away before it's time?
New allegations of child rape against Michel Foucault. I have heard such things before. In the 70s the left wanted to abolish age of consent laws. MF started a petition for that in France.
The more the trial is publicized the less we will see of the actual evidence. That will be buried by the hours of bullshit, blather, and filler. Sad to see the spirit of Lance Ito at work still.
Just finished a viewing of Beavis and Butthead Do America. Not only does it hold up, it's prescient.
Released in 1996, the major subplot is that two nitwit teen-age boys unwittingly mule a biological weapon to Washington DC, and anyone that has interacted with them in any way is subjected to severe sexual abuse by the FBI.
Mike Judge is brilliant, it would be great to hear more from him in a Scott Adams kinda way.
Gospace said... As has been pointed out, the vaccines cannot be required as they are experimental and authorized for emergency use. Vaccinating the entire population is not emergency use.
Reread what you wrote. None of that that stuff is reality. If you or your son prefer possible death or long suffering from adverse effects on your family members from this dangerous virus, don't schedule the free vaccine. This jab is nothing more severe than swallowing a couple pain killers. If your head hurts, we don't care - but you should.
Did you object to having your son vaccinated for Chickenpox, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Polio, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B? We know the answer. Back in the good old days, everyone had a permanent scar on an upper arm caused by an ugly sore that developed after a doctor scratched your arm to administer a weakened small pox bacteria as a vaccine.
FAUCI: "Until they get vaccinated, children shouldn't be allowed to play together without masks -NYP"
Latest from Norway, where I now live: schools have been open since last June ,the students do not wear masks in the classrooms or in the schoolyard,I see them from across the street playing happily ,rain or shine. I am not saying we don't have restrictions, but Dr.Fauci saying children shouldn't play together without a mask, ticked me off. Norway, Population 5.5 mill., Covid 19 deaths to date 656 Sweden Population 10.38 mill.Covid 19 deaths to date 13.402 Masks are not mandatory
In Vermont, if I go to a bar to have a beer, I have to give them my name and phone number. On the way up, I bought a beer in New York State at a bar, and I had to buy a piece of chocolate cake, so I switched to bourbon, because, to be honest, I was sort of in the mood for a piece of chocolate cake. A Hasidic guy came in the bar for a beer, and when they told him he was required to buy a piece of cake, he left. Not that New York cares about the Hasidim.
Is it time to start killing lawmakers yet? Seriously, that's the question. How many rights do we let them take away before it's time? >> The answer is always yes.
Gadfly, the vaccine is experimental and approved for emergency use.
Show mw and everyone else otherwise.
The history of mRNA and similar vaccines on animals is dismal. No, I'm not going to provide links. You'll get a better education looking it up yourself.

The stupid it hurts!!
Oxford and Cambridge were for a thousand years finishing schools for the children of the aristocracy. They had no science courses and education peaked at Greek and Hebrew. The Scottish universities like Edinburgh taught Economics and Math and Chemistry and trained the competent physicians until modern times. I am frankly not that surprised at the antics of Oxford.

The Guardian: Republican senator Ted Cruz mocked for documentary-style trip to US-Mexico border
The migrant ‘surge’ at the U.S. southern border is actually a predictable pattern.
Somebody needs to be sixth.
Here's something Tom T. Hall likes.
Except it didn't happen last year because Trump coerced the Mexican government into stopping the caravans in 2019, and enforcement and new policies stopped most of the rest of it. No, President Joe Shitforbrains owns this lock, stock, and barrel.
CDC crying wolf again about VARIANTS and SURGING CASES and LOCKDOWNSFACEMASKS and BACKSLIDING
In fine print you read deaths are still dropping, as a result of ~70% of olds getting vaxxed.
The CDC needs to shut the fuck up.
Back to normal people... FFS.
I just came back from a trip to Vegas. Getting there. The Strip had pretty normal (i.e. crushing) Saturday night traffic.
Stupid masks tho.

Who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt?
The Sooper Slug is reportedly 21.
That's a damn hard 21, if true...dunno.

Looks like UCLA decided not to foul with 4.5 seconds left and leading by 3 points. Alabama appears to have hit a three to send the game into OT.

Following the Bama vs UCLA game on Yahoo. Looking at the box score just reinforces something every basketball player knows- you really should work on your foul shooting. Bama is 11-21 from the line- this game would be over if they had just hit 75%.
I'm watching but not sure why-
All the experts (but one) told me today Michigan was no match for Florida St.
After Michigan won they told me Michigan was no match for Alabama. I see UCLA/Bama is now in OT.
Walter,
I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the mug shot. He looks like 21 going on 35. I don't know when he came to the US, but I would be surprised if we find out that he lied about his age at some point and subtracted about 12 years off it to get in.

Look at the arrest pic. More telling than the mug shot.
Doesn't look like a guy with his teens a few years behind him.
Who would card him?
Browndog,
It is impossible to judge this a quality field of 64.
Looks like it will be UCLA moving on.
Can we Ann, really?
Btw, I predict 'Variant' and 'Mutation' will be two of the most-used words of 2021.

Isn't this the same guy who was sitting unmasked next to other people at the MLB Allstar game last year? Before there was a vaccine?
Got the 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday and had some reactions today. Fatigue, mild fever and a headache. The fever's gone now after about 8-hrs, still a little tired. Tylenol took care of the headache.

I've watched more games this year than I ever have in my life. Not sure why, maybe because there wasn't a tournament last year.
Seen most of the teams play, Gonzaga is as advertised. Flawless.
Three Minnesota teams in the Frozen Four. They'll be insufferable.
It'll help if none of them is the gophers (that's still in doubt).

I wish someone would show the legal points of entry between Mexico and the US. I live in Texas and I have used them. They are busy places. The media gives the impression that the only way to cross the border into Texas is through the water in the Rio Grande. There are bridges and they have Customs workers on both ends.

"There are bridges and they have Customs workers on both ends."
And all the legal people use them, I'm sure.
Why wouldn't they?
But maybe in the free states like Florida and Texas they won't try the fear-state vaccination
tracking check. And then a preference cascade will overwhelm DeBlasio / Cuomo
So far the Ny app only appears to take NY info.
Fuck them. Never going back.
So I looked up my Wisconsin Immunization Registry status. My covid shots are listed and all the other vaccination they know about and recommendations for when to get the next one. The Tech Lords strike again.

Thanks.

Wildswan,
How can anyone be required to take an UNAPPROVED, EXPERIMENTAL, drug? That is what I don't understand about vaccine passports or apps like you mention.

Meanwhile, statements like this, “There are people all over the nation, all over the world, that are looking at this to get a sense of how much they can believe in our system of justice,” are thinly-veiled demands for only one acceptable verdict -- guilty. Proof positive that it cannot be a fair trial.

If not, there's money to made!

Vaccine passports or apps are systemic racism.

"Vaccine passports or apps are systemic racism."
Well, I will make this prediction then- if vaccine passports actually become a thing in the US, they will only apply to white people. Everyone else will get an exemption.
You know I am right.
"authorized but not approved."
YANCEY AT 10:59, YOU ARE WRONG.
Watching Debri on Peacock+ (which I get for free for some reason) Started a little slow but episode 4 was super. Very promising.
Yancey,
I think they can be approved eventually.
John Henry
Stephen,
I should be wrong, but I wouldn't be in that scenario.

What if 30 years from now, today's 30 year olds suddenly have an epidemic of heart attacks?
John Henry,
They will be approved eventually unless we see quite a few more side effects than have been reported to date, or they will be supplanted by second generation ones with better safety profiles. What has been done here is basically the biggest phase III drug trial in history, by at least 4 magnitudes already, and aiming for 6 or 7. The phase IV stage, surveillance post market will have the largest data set to work with ever.
Caveat emptor.
Long term safety and efficacy of the mRNA technology is still an open question.
http://high-fat-nutrition.blogspot.com/2021/03/more-musing-about-vaccines.html

Risk to health if one is infected
versus
risk to health from one or all of the vaccines.
Which is greater?
Of course, all this leaves out the ethical considerations with the production of the vaccine.
No conviction=200 cities

I won't waste my time watching it.

I am not saying we don't have restrictions, but Dr.Fauci saying children shouldn't play together without a mask, ticked me off.

A Hasidic guy came in the bar for a beer, and when they told him he was required to buy a piece of cake, he left. Not that New York cares about the Hasidim.

Doc K is right, and the modern research university system (which had its day) was the product of 19th C Germany, not Oxbridge.
