"Will y’all call me when the 'this isn’t us' talk stops and the 'this is a systematic issue that we need to deeply examine, completely deconstruct, and rectify' conversation begins?"

Said Rissi Palmer, "the singer-songwriter who hosts Apple Music’s 'Color Me Country,' which focuses on the Black, Indigenous and Latino history of country music," quoted in "Country star Morgan Wallen suspended by record label, dropped by hundreds of radio stations after using racial slur" (WaPo).
... TMZ posted a video Tuesday night that showed Wallen loudly returning home with friends this past weekend. A neighbor, apparently annoyed by the racket, started filming the scene and caught Wallen using the [n-word].
Wallen released an apology Tuesday to TMZ....

Seems like the public figures who use wokeness as a marketing tool to pander to the crowd are laughing their way to the bank behind our backs. I suspect global warming is the same as race, Al Gore gets rich telling us we need to be poor. Nobody really believes this shit but lying to the rubes always makes you rich.

I was just talking about this subject. It seems like the woke crowd are trying to define what is socially acceptable and not. I hadn't considered slurs or cussing but ideas like professing christian faith, remaining the gender you are born, taking responsibility for your life choices, etc. These are considered narrow minded and wrong. I believe they can bully people into appearing to conform but can't change what people think or believe.
If I thought they had patience and wisdom I'd say they are hoping by keeping people from saying the wrong things publicly they'll prevent future generations from hearing them. Maybe future humans won't think of these bad ideas themselves. Although it didn't work with child abuse, addiction, teen pregnancy, and many other social taboos.

When I was an inner city school teacher the "n" word was the first word I heard in the morning and the last word I heard when I closed my classroom door for the day. The permutation of the "n" word salutation was infinite.
As in the one young lady who told me I was her favorite teacher ever and I was forever her "Salty sweet nigga' dawg" followed with a quick hug before I peeled her off of me. Or LeCharles - a senior citizen (15 and still in 7th grade) - who would wander from classroom to classroom where he would enter an announce that they were "All y'all be LeCharle's niggas" followed by loud class wide approval to the claim of ownership if not actual bondage.
LeCharles was a great kid if a bit unmoored of reality. But certainly no worse than civilization as we've come to know it.

Great idea. The problem is that the "minority community" makes frequent use of the n-word in everyday talks. It would be racist to deny them free speech. It is not racist to deny White people that word in any speech because ....

I am trying to figure out the logic. Best guess is that all White people are crackers, or something like that.

If a word is socially unacceptable, then it's unacceptable no matter who uses it. If women have a word they would like men to stop using to describe us, then we need to stop using it to describe ourselves. If gays have an unacceptable word for straight folks to stop using, then they need to erase the word from their own vocabulary. It's a not a "hate word" for others and a "sign of affection" for you. If it's a hate word, then it's a hate word.

Mr Wibble said...

I was just talking about this subject. It seems like the woke crowd are trying to define what is socially acceptable and not.

That's because they are. Social Justice isn't about justice, it's about power. The SJW is trying to gain power over others. By demonstrating their "woke" purity and their ability to whip up the mob against a target, they gain social position over their peers. By destroying their target, and cowing others into silence, they get the thrill of exercising power over people they despise.

What’s clearly missing here is a fearless comedian, similar to Lenny Bruce in the 50s and 60s and R. Crumb in the 60s and 70s who will lampoon the ass kissing of blacks and the timidity of whites relentlessly.

Yeah, the downside to exposing yourself to the racism ranters is huge, but somebody has always wanted the fame (and sometimes the martyrdom) of playing the heretic.

I’m too old for this role. Somebody has always stepped forward in the past.

Not any different than this...on Jan 1st"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rules Committee Chairman James McGovern (D-MA) unveiled the rules for the 117th Congress on Friday, which contain “future-focused” proposals, including the elimination of gendered terms, such as “father, mother, son, and daughter.”"

Less than two weeks later, Pelosi herself disregarded the laughable proposed ban on gendered language in the House rules when making her case for the second time in a year to urge her House colleagues to impeach President Donald Trump...“I stand before you as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a daughter, a daughter whose father proudly served in this Congress,” the California spouse, parent, grandparent and child of a parent and former congressperson blathered.

I'll just say it right here. You're not going to make words disappear. People are not going to stop insulting each other, or stop just using 'colloquial' words for other races, religions, genders, etc. It is part of who humans are- from Africa to Europe to Asia to the Americas to Australia. Perhaps New Zealand is the only place people don't insult each other and that's only because there aren't enough of them living close enough to insult. They would if they could.

Such is the state of humanity. Remember when 'sticks and stones may break my bones, but words....'. Yeah sure. Those days are long gone. I'm not trying to make light of this, but honestly- what the hell is this generation going to do when they realize that behind their backs, everyone is calling everyone else crackers, whiteys, n___az, coons, kikes, wops, micks, wetbacks, beaners, heebs, dagos, krauts, huns, heinie, jigaboo, gook, jap, nip, chink, greaser, gringo, okie, prairie n____, sand n_____, camel jockey, paddy, guido, guinea, shylock, yid, coolie, slope, and finally- oreo.

You will note that there is only one insult that I feel like I cannot even spell out. Throughout history we have all called each other everything in the book. We have also managed to get through it, though we murdered millions of each other along the way- here we are. And this generation thinks they're going to wipe out human nature by decree, or by making us each unemployed?

What hubris! What delerium. It's just words, people. Just words. Get on with your lives FFS.

But if I mention race in a song, I'm scared I'll get killed for it
It's backwards, it's gettin' exponentially dumb
It's more difficult to get a job than purchase a gun
Eminem used to gay bash and murder his mum
And now he doesn't want fans if they voted for Trump
We're ashamed to be American, you should probably love it
'Cause you have the right to say it and not gеt strung up in public
As children, we werе taught how to walk and talk
But the system wants adults to sit down and shut up
Cancel culture runs the world now, the planet went crazy
Label everything we say as homophobic or racist
If you're white, then you're privileged, guilty by association
All our childhood heroes got Me-Too'd or they're rapists

[Pre-Chorus 1]
They never freed the slaves, they realized that they don't need the chains
They gave us tiny screens, we think we free 'cause we can't see the cage
They knew that race war would be the game they need to play
For people to pick teams, they use the media to feed the flame

[Chorus]
They so fake woke, facts don't care 'bout feelin's
They know they won't tell me what to believe in
They so fake woke, same old safe zones
They so fake woke, facts don't care 'bout your feelin's

[Verse 2]
I think it's crazy all these people screamin' facts, but they fake woke
Hate their neighbor 'cause he wears a mask or he stays home
Has a daughter, but his favorite artist said he slays hoes
Picks her up from school, music slaps on the way home
Censorship's an issue 'cause they choose what they erase
There's a difference between hate speech and speech that you hate
I think Black Lives Matter was the stupidest name
When the system's screwin' everyone exactly the same
I just wanna spend Thanksgivin' Day with food and my family
Without bein' accused of celebrating native casualties
We got so divided, it's black and white and political
Republicans are bigots, libtards if you're liberal
There's riots in our streets, and it's just gettin' worse
Y'all screamin', "Defund the police", y'all are genius for sure
They're underfunded already, they're way too busy to work
Order food and call the cops, see what reaches you first

[Pre-Chorus 2]
Segregation ended, that's a lie in itself
That was a strategy to make us think they were tryin' to help
They knew that racism was hot if they designed it to sell
We buy up every single box and divide us ourselves

[Chorus]
They so fake woke, facts don't care 'bout feelin's
They know they won't tell me what to believe in
They so fake woke, same old safe zones
They so fake woke, facts don't care 'bout your feelin's

How about the brilliant Lenny Bruce routine that (accurately) argues that it is the demonization of a word that gives it its power? If we want people to stop using a word, then we need to stop caring whether or not they use that word. Rob it of its power and it will fade away. Ban it and we keep it powerful; keep it powerful and people will keep using it.

By today's logic he should be canceled for it. But I suspect his response would be something like:

To which I would say forever and ever, Amen.

I never heard that song on radio we don't have any country stations here. Did it go out on the airwaves like that?

This is the problem. I'm interested in the consequences for the people who don't screw up. The accusation moves from the existence of white racists (hardly something in dispute) to a resolution requiring all whites to accept second class status.

The left developed such a comprehensive reporting mechanism for racists we know more about them than we do our cousins within hours of any transgression. And still they can only find a couple a week in a country with almost 200 million non-Hispanic whites. People who think this proves something are insane. Yet we're supposed to accept that his racism proves others must submit to struggle sessions by ideological extremists.
